A few gorgeous Stylers asked me before I headed off to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia to find them the trends that might translate to workwear for them next spring.
Well, I’m pleased to report that I may have just found those trends tonight – in the soft, structured printed and plain silhouettes of the divine Ode to No One label.
The hot, hot, hot colours of the spring-summer ahead range from pastels through to bright corals and Mediterranean blues. The colour is designed for impact and works easily as well in a skirt or jacket as it does in a shoe.
Speaking of shoes, the ones in this show are getting an extra special mention because you can actually buy them now (everything else I see this week you’ll have to wait until August or September to buy).
The closed-toe stilettos with ankle straps are by Nude and were created especially for Ode to No One. You can check out the full range here on Style Tread – the ankle strap differs from the show’s clear option but I actually do like the impact of the ankle strap in the same colour as the shoe. If you’re worried about the strap “stumping” your legs, then opt for the nude colour.
Let’s talk about the makeup.
Created by Maybelline New York’s Nigel Stanislaus, this is something that would also easily translate to work.
Nigel’s hot tip for translating this look to the everyday: don’t be afraid to “whoosh”. Whoosh your blush over your cheekbones for a light, fresh daytime and very office-suitable look.
The key product used here is the Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam ($22.95 and available in July). Now, if you didn’t listen to Nigel on the video, you would have missed him saying that it works like a BB Cream. AH-HA! Yes. It comes out of the can like a hair mousse and goes on to easily create a fresh, flawless finish in a flash. I’m up for that. Yes, I am.
If you work in an office, is this a look you can see yourself interpreting this spring?

Thanks to Maybelline NY Australia, I’m blogging at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia all week. Come back each day for my take on what we’ll be wearing – on our face and ourselves – next spring-summer.

Ooh I love the sound of the Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam – would love to try that!! I’m a blush-a-holic. I keep my ‘office face’ fairly simple – foundation, mascara, lipgloss or lipstick (depending on my mood) and of course blushings of blush!! Loving your reviews, Nikki. Hope you’re having fun. xx
I’m having a ball … tired but having a ball. You’ll love this foundation – perfect for your gorgeous skin!
