I love to travel but I also love finding things that make my packing and travel life easier. Here are yet another 10 useful travel helpers I’m glad I packed and took with me on international trips this year. Want more travel helpers? Check out part 1, part 2 and part 3.

Yet another 10 useful travel helpers

1. Vacuum travel packs

I’ve been a regular and compression packing cube convert from way back for suitcase organisation but these take things next level, particularly if you’re packing bulky winter items for a snow trip. I’d steered clear of older versions of these because you needed a vacuum cleaner at the other end to re-pack for your journey home. These come with a small device that sucks out all the air and compresses your clothes inside the bag. Plus, the bags are waterproof, a bonus if you’re a camper. Spoiler alert: I’m not a camper but you already knew that didn’t you!

2. Customisable travel kits for beauty products

Yes, there are cheaper options out there but I’m a marketer’s dream when something practical is packaged beautifully. I’ve got a mix of these Somi jars and bottles where I decant everything from hair products to supplements an an attempt to minimise the ridiculous amount of products I seemingly can’t leave home without.

3. Self-tanning body drops

This is niche, but if I’m going somewhere warm and will be wearing summer clothes, I’ll want to keep topping up my fake tan. I’d usually use a gradual tanner if at home but these typically come in large bottles. And because you need to cover a large surface area, I’d need to decant into too many mini bottles to last a trip. Instead, I take these Isle of Paradise self-tanning drops and mix with the hotel body lotion or buy a moisturiser from a local supermarket or pharmacy.

4. Chill-out drops

Life Unhurried has always been about slowing down and seeking out travel experiences that enable you to do just that. Now the women behind this brand have a range of their own wellness products, including Not Now, Stress, organic botanical drops that help you to chill out. I find them particularly helpful when navigating airports and transfers between destinations.

5. Fibre supplement

If you know, you know, right? Flights and travel in general can wreak havoc on our regularity. I’ve learned a lot about the need to keep things regular before and since my robotic rectopexy surgery last year. Women are generally worse at maintaining regularity than men. We are not great at relaxing into the, ahhem, process or consuming enough fibre. Tumme, an Australian fibre supplement, was recommended to me by my colorectal surgeon. I don’t leave home without it.

6. Pro-biotic supplement

Lifestyle brand Imbibe now offers a range of travel sizes in their bestselling products. I’ve long been a fan of its Beauty Renewal Probiotic Concentrate. Add to a glass of water for a delicious drink that helps support gut balance and ease bloating (see above re travelling and gut issues HAH!).

7. Travel-size stain remover

When a husband and wife dry-cleaning duo created and launched a stain-removal product that reduces the need to dry-clean your clothes, I took note and immediately added Truly Co. stain remover to our laundry kit. Nothing I’ve tried comes close to what Truly achieves in the stain-removal department. Now Truly also offer a mini version which is an essential in my travel kit.

8. Travel laundry wash bag

I don’t love doing laundry in generally, especially while travelling but often needs must. The Scrubba wash bag makes it easy in any location or situation. You add water, clothes and laundry liquid, close the bag and deflate. Rub the clothes against the internal washboard for 30 seconds to three minutes, rinse and hang to dry. It’s a genius step up from handwashing when you don’t have access to or time for a machine wash.

9. Small charger with travel plug converter

Most of my devices (excepting hair tools) are all powered via a USB-C plug so this small Zoomlite 65W Gan Charger/Travel Plus Convertor meets most of my travel needs without the bulk of a powerboard or large charger. It comes with convertor attachments for travelling worldwide.

10. Slimline jewellery case

I’ve tried so many jewellery cases over the years but for my needs, this slimline case has proved to be the best yet. It fits a lot but without the bulk that usually comes with a structured beauty case. It’s obviously very personal and based on the type of jewellery you like to take with you on trips but maybe this Country Road one suits your needs too.
