The Model and Me: Belle Bird spring-summer 2019

Let the new season of Model and Me posts begin! Yes, while it may indeed be winter, in Fashion Land, the seasons have a changed and the first of the spring-summer styles are starting to land in store and online.

I thought I’d ease you into the new season gently with pieces that can be worn now with layers but de-layered as it warms up.

Now, if you’ve been following around here for a while you’ll know that I do struggle with wrap dresses. I have a short waist and a sizeable bust (16D). This combination means the wrap bit often gapes because of a lack of fabric around the bust. 

I do have some gaping with this style but it was easily fixed by a discreet safety pin. The wrap works because there is enough fabric in the bust part of the wrap. Birdsnest’s Belle Bird range is designed for women with curves (in sizes 8-24) so I think this is why this particular cut works for me.

The fabric is a silky-feel polyester that doesn’t crush (perfect for work or travel). The kimono-style sleeves add interest but also breathability in the summer months. And the modern leopard print packs a powerful punch.

Wear now with tights, boots and a coat. De-layer later and wear with a heeled sandal or pump. This is a versatile style that will serve you well.
