The Model and Me: Boho Bird spring-summer 2019

I think I love the transition between winter and spring the most. We’re still getting cool-to-freezing temps depending on where we live but the hope, possibility and promise of a little warmth is tempting and teasing us. 

When it comes to our wardrobes, this possibility of a warmer weather has us thinking about how we can take our existing pieces or new purchases and wear them now but “lighten up” later. 

This Model and Me post features one such garment from the new Boho Bird spring-summer 2019 collection. I’ve long been a fan of this birdsnest label. It’s a label that speaks to my inner boho queen but with styles that don’t make me look like an extra on a 1970s TV show.

There’s definitely an element of Pretty Woman at the polo about this dress. Love me a polka dot almost as much as a stripe! It’s a gorgeous taupe colour that’s a little tricky to capture exactly as it looks different in different light. Hence why my photo looks different from the model photo. I would say the colour is pretty close to what you see in my photo.

The fabric is a soft, stretch crepe that feels light and lovely on and is crush resistant. The shape is generous – I’ve sized down. It’s not a style I’d wear without a tie or belt but play with how you position your tie or belt. For me and my short waist, it worked on the hips. Hourglass, longer torso ladies, try with a wider belt around the waist. 

The optional open neckline, elasticated three-quarter sleeves and high-low hem help to balance and play on proportions when wearing this garment. 

I’ve made it a spring look with sandals but this style would also work with ankle boots and a blazer or denim jacket.
