The Model and Me: Bowerbird Collections autumn-winter 2019

I’m super lucky to be surrounded in my ‘hood by so many talented creatives. The mother and daughter team behind Bowerbird Collections are two of those creatives. 

Peta and Ellie Sweatman opened Bowerbird Collections about 10 years ago to create beautiful custom lampshades. Now if you step into their gorgeous boutique you’ll find those lamps as well as a beautiful mix of art, decor pieces and fashion.

The fashion side of things launched last year with a focus on timeless pieces in natural fabrics. The Bowerbird Collections autumn-winter 2019 range offers trans-seasonal pieces that will help you transition your wardrobe from winter to spring. Peta and Ellie will launch their spring/summer 2019 collection on October 5, as part of the Next Gen Emerging Designer Showcase for Brisbane Fashion Month.

Can’t stop; won’t stop my love of anything animal print! So when I first laid eyes on these palazzo pants it was all the heart eyes from me. The fabric is light crepe weave. It may shrink when washed but will iron back out. This style is also available in 100% linen in blue and natural. I love the dress-up/dress-down versatility of this style. I’ve worn it here with sneakers but they would work just as beautifully dressed up with heels. Love an elasticated waist for allowing me to position the pants just wear I’d like to (for me, that’s more on the hips). 

The boatneck top is a perfect match for the pants. I’ve worn this on its own but in the model image you’ll see it layered over a cami. It’s a shorter length than a regular top but it works beautifully for my short waist, creating shape as it sits on the waist of the pant
