It’s here. Autumn. Hip, hip hooray. I know things are relative but when Queensland evening and morning temperatures dip to doona level, I’m one very excited girl.
That also means I can share some autumn fashion finds around these parts that you can actually wear. Double hip, hip hooray.
Motto has done it again with a coated jersey jacket that will be an outfit finisher for so many of your autumn-winter smart casual looks.
When we think of jackets for autumn-winter, most of us would default to black but, this season, you’ll find caramel and chocolate vying for your attention.
It’s still a neutral, yes, but chocolate offers a softer alternative. If it feels a little heavy (as black can do), wear it back with a lighter colour or white/ivory. It’s a colour that makes a great pairing with denim, black and other neutrals like the khaki I’ve worn here.
Now, more about this jacket.
It’s crafted from a soft, stretch foil-coated ponte, which gives the look of leather but with an easy care and wear factor. The aviator shape, metallic hardware and faux fur trims on the cuffs and collar make a statement.
The fit across the shoulders is comfortable and the fabric means that you don’t have the boxy feel that can often come with a jacket of this style.

SYTL re-stocked: Cate in black and white
You’ve fallen hard for our Cate shirt – and it’s no surprise why. Cate is the adaptable and versatile trans-seasonal shirt you’ve been looking for. We’ve re-stocked in black and white but have already sold out of some sizes from this re-stock. Don’t miss out! And don’t just take our word for why you’re going to love Cate.
Here’s what one of our customers had to say:
“I bought my Cate technical shirt a week ago and have already worn it twice (and that was restricting myself!). I can see how this is going to be an absolute classic, timeless wardrobe basic for me and I look forward to buying it in the white (…and possibly black!) too, because I can see the value I’ll get out of it. It came on a weekend away and is the perfect non-iron travel companion. I was initially a sceptic of the ‘technical fabric’ concept as I had not yet met a non-natural fibre that could breathe. Well this was tested in 30 plus degree Brisbane humidity and was 100% breathable and comfortable. 10/10 Nikki, I’ll be back for more!” – Clare
