Hands up if you’re planning a beach getaway this summer? If that’s you, then your summer resort style wardrobe starts here – with a label I’m excited to share more about with you.
It’s almost six years ago since I discovered the resort wear label, Mist. I was given the heads up about Mist before heading to Bali for the first time. Since the moment I wandered into one of the label’s boutiques in Seminyak, it’s been love.
I’d buy new pieces on each successive trip to Bali, adding to my summer resort style wardrobe frocks, tops and pants that were very much suited to an Australian summer. For me the appeal is in the beautiful fabrications – from linen through to the softest of rayon – and the gorgeous prints that are trademark to this Australian label.
With Mist now available online, I no longer need to travel to Bali to get my fix. And nor do you.
I featured this dress from the spring 2018 collection back in September and you went crazy for it. The A Summer Story collection has just been released and I’m sharing here some of my favourite looks. The collection represents an ode to Australian summers, where beach or pool days drift into balmy nights surrounded by friends and family.
In this latest collection, you’ll find dresses and tops in floaty, breathable fabrics. Summer calls for comfort, so garments have ties and elasticated waists – there’s not a zip in sight! Detailing is found in the prints, the fringing, ruffles and embroidery.
If you’re planning a beach escape – or simply “playing resorts” at home, these are the pieces you need to pack and/or have in your wardrobe. Buy for wearing this season, knowing you’ll be wearing these pieces for many a summer to come.
Mist Rocco ruffle top | Linen fringe pants
‘Tis the season for festive dressing and I wholeheartedly endorse any wearing of red or green at any time of year. This tunic is perfect for those who love a longer style top, arm coverage and stunning detailing.
Mist Linen Fringe Poncho top | Linen Fringe pant
I’m all for white on white for the freshest of fresh summer looks and love this combination as one of those outfits that gives the look of a jumpsuit but with infinitely more ease when heading to the bathroom. The linen is incredibly soft but you know it will become even softer with wearing.
Mist Linen Fringe Poncho top | Nila linen skirt – lilac
Swap out the linen pants for a skirt for a dressier option. On-trend lilac works so well with white and I love balancing out the frills in the top with more on the skirt. I tell you, you cannot have enough frill action in your clothes this season. The skirt has an elastic waist, so it’s super comfortable on.
Mist Ruffle Poncho Top – Raspberry
This is the same shape as the white linen top but in Mist’s signature rayon. It was this fabric that first made me fall in love with Mist. It feels so luxe and silk-like on the skin.
Mist ruffle poncho top – black
It was Mist’s prints that I also fell for from that first purchase many years ago. I love the colour mix in this piece and that the pattern clashing that just works.
And when you fall hard for a print and find it’s available in different styles? That, dear Stylers, is what we call a win. This style is absolutely perfect for hot summer days when you really want to feel like you’re wearing nothing at all but know that public decency does call for clothing to be donned.
Want light and lovely but with arm coverage? This style is for you. It gives you great shape around the bust but with the body of the dress dropping and draping from underneath the bust, you still get a dress that oozes comfort and wearability when the heat is on.
I love the elegance of this piece. Yes, you could pop it on over a swimsuit for a beach visit, but you could also dress it up for lunch out. I love the linen fabric, the v-neckline, the ruffle detailing and the side-hem, contrasting fabric inserts.
