If I close my eyes really tight – or go scrolling through the #amalficoast hashtag on Instagram – I really and truly can imagine myself back in Italy, sitting on our Praiano balcony, sipping Limoncello, while staring out over the deep blue sea to the cliffs of Positano.

Or maybe there was an Aperol Spritz in my hand, a bowl of red, juicy cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, burrata cheese and drizzled olive oil in front of me.

Perhaps, I’m jumping off the side of the boat, swimming in the crystal clear Mediterranean, before climbing back on board and tucking into a Prosecco and fresh figs.

There is something so captivating about this part of the world. Every turn is a (good) assault on every one of your senses. If you’ve visited before, you’re scheming to go back. If you’ve never been, it’s most probably on your wish list.

This spring-summer you can ramp up your dreaming and scheming because one lucky person (and their super lucky plus one) will escape to Italy thanks to birdsnest’s boho bird La Dolce Vita collection. Read on for how you could be in with a chance at this amazing prize.

In the meantime, embrace the Positano, Capri or Sorrento vibe with stunning pieces from this new collection. If you’re new to boho bird, this label is one of the stable of labels designed and produced by the birdsnest team.

Think Nina Proudman, Stevie Nicks and Nicole Richie having a tea party in the bush.

With that description, you will know and understand just how much I love it. boho bird offers up the kind of pieces that provide the show pony action to my classic basics.

And this season, I cannot get enough of those show ponies.

Maxi dresses

I love a maxi dress for a little dramatic dressing in summer and this one above had me at this incredible print that just seems to encompass everything fabulously colourful about the Amalfi Coast. It was also a surprise winner for my shape when I popped it on. It fully buttons through, giving you plenty of options to show a little more leg and/or chest for balancing out proportions. The shirred high-waist detailing creates a beautiful line, from which the skirt flows.

My love of off-the-shoulder anything continues to run very deep and this maxi option makes me want to settle in at a beachside restaurant for a long afternoon of seafood and caprese salads. The elasticated waist and jersey fabric will accommodate that too! I love how the frill falls in such a way to subtly create shape around the waist.

Midi dresses

Do you find a maxi dress can overwhelm you but you’d still like a hint of that look? Look for a midi style like this one with its tulip hem and faux-wrap, waist-loving shape. It’s a jersey fabric, so ideal for packing for travel. Cool at night? Simply add a denim jacket.

Knee-length dresses

Embrace the Pantone colour of the year with this gorgeous, digital floral print. I’ve sized down in this style for a more streamlined shift look. It comes with a tie but I prefer this style without. The bell sleeves create a flattering line and it’s the type of dress that would work just as well worn with flat sandals as heels or wedges.

boho bird For the Frill dress

This is such a fun style in a colour that almost mimics the deeper teal/blues of the Mediterranean. I can’t help thinking how nicely it would contrast with the orange glow of a Spritz in hand! The tie under the bust is adjustable, so you can create as much or as little shape here as you’d like. The hem and sleeve frills and the v-neck work together to balance out proportions beautifully. It’s a shorter style (166cm), so will best suit those my height or shorter.

Statement pants

The printed wide-legged pant is such a trend piece this season and these will turn heads – for good reasons. The landscape/nature print brings with it so many colours, contrasting with the black background. I’m wearing my regular size here but the next size up would be a better fit for me as my lower torso is deep (between my belly button and top of my thighs). I need a little extra depth in any pants or jumpsuits with a higher waist. The cami is a new colour in boho bird’s best-selling style.

Now, I know that droppie pants are polarising. People either love or hate them. There doesn’t seem to be any middle ground! If you are a droppie fan, you’ll LOVE these. They are a stretch, mid-weight fabric, so perfect for now. The wide waistband is fabulous for creating a flat front to your outfit – perfect for a half or full tuck! As for the top, I love a little embroidery on a white/ivory summer piece. It’s classic boho, just the way I like it. I featured a similar style last summer and still absolutely love it.

Skirts

While my love of stripes will never end, I’ve been known to go dotty over spots. I mean. Look at this skirt (and this jumpsuit!). The shape is high waisted (size up if you’d like it to sit lower on your waist/hips), with a flattering asymmetrical frilled hem. Bring that same asymmetrical line into a top and you have an outfit that begs to spend the afternoon lunching high above Positano beach at La Sirenuse.

  1. Birdsnest, ‘you have my heart’ (now) in a dress! This is something that can dress up or down and will be a winner either way. Can’t wait to wear it in Italy when i win.

  2. Hello?! Yes, dream holiday – now that I know what to expect!

I’ve never tried maxi dresses and don’t think they’d suit me as it’d look like a mumu (sp?) so I like the frill dress or the pants (being a trousers kinda gal!).

  3. Amalfi maxi dress for the win because a beautiful place deserves a beautiful dress…also it looks to be kind over the tummy area so you can sample ALL the foodie delights & still look amazing in it.
