The Model and Me: Sacha Drake spring-summer 2018

There are some strong silhouettes coming through for the new fashion season ahead. Perhaps the strongest of them all is the culotte or wide-legged cropped pant.

And when this pant forms part of a jumpsuit like this one from Sacha Drake, you have an on-trend piece that adds instant freshness to your wardrobe.

Sacha Drake is a Brisbane-based label that I’ve been talking about and sharing with you since this blog started. I actually met Sacha about 12 years ago back in my former career.

Her label has grown but the essence behind it remains the same. Sacha wants women to feel incredible for occasions, events and the every day through styles that are timeless and flattering.

This jumpsuit from the Sacha Drake spring-summer 2018 collection is no exception.

If you’ve ever stepped into a jersey piece from the Sacha Drake range, you’ll not need an introduction to this fabric that feels so comfortable on you feel like you’re stepping out in your pjs.

Add a flattering drape and you have a wardrobe winner that boosts confidence at every turn. The shoulder and waist ties are adjustable to suit how you’d like the piece to sit. You can define the waist more or less depending on your preference. And you can adjust how wide the straps sit on your shoulder.

I love that this piece is a perfect blank canvas for any occasion. Dress it up with heels like I’ve done or dress down with slides and a denim jacket.

The wide leg on me looks better with a heel (and I’m loving the new pewter ALANA heels from FRANKiE4) but a minimalist slide can also work. I just need to show enough of my lower leg and foot to balance out proportions.

Now, the only downside to a jumpsuit is going to the bathroom while wearing it. This one has a tie at the back of the neck which you untie to easily enable the entire piece to be pulled down. I know this type of clothes wrangling isn’t for everyone but, for me, the comfort factor of wearing one piece trumps any tricky bathroom manoeuvres.

So, tell me, do you embrace a jumpsuit? A culotte?

#9FarmAid telethon – tune in today!

Camilla top (Cint boutique) | Motto jeans | FRANKiE4 Footwear ALYCE wedgesYou guys! I’m heading to Warwick (Darling Downs, QLD) today (Monday, August 20) to talk on the Today Show’s #9FarmAid telethon about the Styling You #shopitforward campaign you’ve got behind to help our sisters in drought-affected areas. I’ll be on about 2pm.

This top is one of the purchases I made from 55-plus stores listed on our blog post. It’s from Cint boutique in Young, NSW.

Let me know where you’ve shopped and what you’ve bought. I’ve heard from so many businesses about the big difference our shopping is making in these rural communities. I’ve had goosebumps on goosebumps reading these messages. Little things do really add up to big things when we support each other. ❤️🙏🏻
