The Styling You 10th Bloggy Birthday is happening this Saturday and I’m super excited to have birdsnest as our fashion partners.

Together with footwear partner FRANKiE4 Footwear, jewellery partner Jan Logan and accessories partner Miss Monogram, we are presenting a fashion parade of the early new-season releases from these brands. And they’ll be modelled on six #everydaystyle Instagramers (see who they are HERE) because seeing clothes on women of different shapes, sizes and ages is what this blog has been about since day one.

Now, if you are not one of the 200 coming along on the day, we’ve got great news for you. The parade will be streamed live on the Styling You Facebook page about 2.15pm. You’ll have a front-row seat to check out all that’s featured, plus there will be links to shop if you see something you like.

AND … drum rolll, you could win a $400 birdsnest outfit (you don’t have to be an attendee to be in with a chance to win this prize). All the details are HERE.

One of the birdsnest brands that will be featured on the day is Belle bird, birdsnest’s brand for curvy shaped women size 10-22.

When I clocked this striped dress in the Belle bird spring summer 2018 new arrivals this month, I knew it would slip into my wardrobe and become a firm favourite.

I’ve never met a stripe I haven’t fallen immediately in love with and this easy-wear t-shirt dress is no exception. It’s a silly fashion rule misnomer that they make you look larger than you are – they can have the opposite effect. SO. Ignore the “rules” wear the stripes!

Navy stripes are my fave and I love the stripes in this frock. The mid-weight of this jersey (67% viscose 28% polyester 5% elastane) is perfect for trans-seasonal dressing. Plus, it skims and drapes beautifully.

Too cold to bare the legs? Add black leggings or tights and boots. Then pop a biker jacket or longline cardi on top for extra warmth.

I love the sleeve details. Bell sleeves are so flattering. I find if you need to wear an outer garment then you simply fold the bell part of the sleeve lightly around your arm and slide a jacket or cardi sleeve over the top.

I cannot go past the sneaker and frock look but if you wanted to dress this up a bit, swap the sneakers for a heeled sandal or wedge when things warm up a bit.

This is such a wardrobe winner and will be on high rotation.

So tell me, do I need a stripes intervention? Or are you with me on #teamstripes?

  1. That dress looks great on you, and I like that the bell sleeves aren’t too big as I find them annoying, they get in the way! It drapes beautifully, and you can’t really beat stripes!
