The Model and Me: Harvest Lane autumn-winter 2018

You know how much I love bringing you news and fashion from Australian independent fashion labels, yes? There’s only one thing I like more than that and that’s bringing you news and fashion from a label you might not have heard about before.

This post is one that fills that brief.

Harvest Lane is the new label from the people who created the Design A Space retail galleries in Melbourne. Bec and Chris Lutz created Design A Space “to promote and showcase the talents of independent Australian designers in an artistic shopping environment”.

Before Design A Space, Bec had her own fashion label. Her new label – Harvest Lane – is a full-circle return to those fashion beginnings but with an original collection that will very much appeal to style queens who aren’t afraid to shy away from a print and who like filling their wardrobe with pieces that work from day to night.

I’ve featured below one of Harvest Lane’s signature top styles – the River top.

Harvest Lane top (I’m in size 12 – down one size from normal) | Motto jeans (just one pair of these left) | FRANKiE4 Footwear IZZY boots in wheat

There is something quite dramatic in this high-low style. It plays on traditional proportions, offering all the functions and comfort of a top but with the flair of a statement piece.

The style is quite relaxed – I’ve sized down to a 12. This reduces the volume from the waist down for a more flattering fit but without restricting movement across the bust, back and arms.

You can also play up the proportions of this look even more by tucking (full or half) at the front to see more of the waist of the jean.

You could also wear this top with a pair of long pants. Stick to skinny/slim leg pants for the best contrast between the top and the legs in your outfit.

This is just one of the prints available in this design (check out the rest HERE). I’ve long loved a paisley print and this one also ticks my love of blue. It’s a show-stopper, that’s for sure.

The fabric is a crepe rayon. You could layer a jacket or coat over the top for warmth, if needed.

So, tell me do you like to play with proportions in your tops? Love a paisley print?

  1. Love the outfit, plus blue and paisley. Saw a lady at Manly (Qld) last week in a similar outfit, only all black. She looked amazing!
