The Model and Me: Motto autumn-winter 2018

Autumn-winter style is all about layering. And, oh boy, it warms the cockles of my wardrobe heart when it does get cool enough to layer.

I feel more “dressed” when wearing more than one layer. That’s why a jacket becomes a key wardrobe workhorse during the trans-seasonal months and through to winter.

One Australian label, a label I’m proud to be ambassador for, Motto, knows how to build an outfit based on layers that add interest and depth to an outfit.

In this post, I’m featuring three pieces from the Motto autumn-winter 2018 collection. These three pieces are great on their own but, combined, they provide a fabulous wow factor.

The model

and me

Motto jacket (I’m in 14), blouse (I’m in 14), cami (no longer available) and jeans (I’m in 12) | FRANKiE4 Footwear ALANA heels

Let’s break this outfit down, starting with the jeans. Oh MY, Motto knows how to create a jean that is super flattering AND comfortable to wear. My hot tip is to size down because that comfort comes in the form of a fabulous stretch denim fabric.

These black denim jeans will be on high rotation in my wardrobe, that’s for sure. I’ll get them taken up to sit at the top of my ankles but here I’ve just left them scrunched at the ankle.

These jeans, plus the cami (from the Motto summer collection), form the foundation of this outfit and the sheer blouse and jacket are my show-pony pieces.

Now, I know pattern clashing is not for everyone but the key (if you want to try it) is to combine pieces which have the same or coordinating base colours in their patterns.

I cannot get enough of this Chanel-esque boucle jacket. It will make even a jeans and white tee base outfit pop. There’s a hint of metallic gold in this impeccably tailored piece and, together with grosgrain trims, it takes this piece to another level of wardrobe wonder and fabulous.

So, tell me, are you excited to get layering again? Love a statement jacket for autumn-winter?
