The Model and Me: Hunt + Kelly autumn-winter 2018

Please send some cooler weather vibes my way. You see, I’ve fallen heavily for so many new-season, autumnal looks BUT autumn has failed to arrive in my neck of the woods.

Do you have autumn where you are? Please share with me any autumnal adjectives to describe the weather where you are, if only to help cool me down and reduce my ever-growing air conditioning bill. YIKES.

Anyhoo, onwards and upwards, this week I’m excited to share with you the first of Hunt + Kelly‘s autumn-winter 2018 collection.

I’ve been a fan of this Brisbane-based label from day one. It’s the brainchild of bridal and formal-wear designer Paul Hunt and former fashion editor Kellie Alderman and I’ve loved watching this collaboration go from strength to strength.

At its core, the label just “gets” our wardrobe’s need for effortless style, from its core essentials through to seasonal hero pieces, I’ve got many Hunt + Kelly pieces that I can always rely upon.

In this season-launch, I’m featuring an outfit that is a fun alternative to a cocktail frock for a night out.

The model

and me

Hunt + Kelly top and pant | FRANKiE4 Footwear ALANA heels

Hunt + Kelly top (I’m in size 1) and pant (to come, I’m in size 2) | Belle Bird @ Birdsnest cami (I’m in 14 and it’s on sale … an incredible shape and drape) | FRANKiE4 Footwear ALANA heels

There is something like a lace top that takes an outfit up about six hundred notches in the style department.

And this one is just something else.

For starters, it’s a fabulously flattering style, with a slight drape and swing from the bust. There is hand beading on the front and back. I love the wet-look lace effect for a bit of a tough-pretty contrast. I’m 166cm and the size 2 finishes at just the right place on my hips.

I’m teasing you with these pants but they are SO good. They will be available soon. I was surprised putting them on as I didn’t think the cut would work for my hips and front bottom. The flat, front waistband and soft drape on the leg and tapering at the ankle are just right for my shape.

Together, this is an outfit I’d happily trot out for a date night or night out with the girls. I’d also work the lace top back with denim and boots and add a leather jacket for different rock chic look.

The top is sheer, so I’ve popped underneath one of my favourite camis. The cut and shape of this cami is so flattering. Hop to it if this is a gap in your wardrobe.

So, tell me do you love an alternative to a frock for an autumn-winter evening out?

Styling You Ultimate Capsule Wardrobe 2018 membershipFor some, clothes might seem a superficial path to confidence but for the women in the Styling You community, we understand what we wear can affect us on a deeper level. Sometimes clothes might be an armour or a motivational pick-me-up. I know they can be for me.

I work from home – ducking out for meetings during the day – so, in theory, I don’t need to dress up for my job. I learned, however, that the days I did make a bit of an effort were the days that I was more productive. It’s like pulling on a “confidence” uniform to get sh&*t done. Does that work for you too?

So, now I plan out my work-day outfits in advance and I show the women in the Styling You community through my Ultimate Capsule Wardrobe online style programs how to do that too. I show my “Capsulers” how to create a wardrobe that works for them and how to shop mindfully for any new additions. It’s not about me setting strict rules, it’s about providing guidelines for you to create looks that work for your personality and lifestyle. You know my thoughts on style rules, don’t you? Forget them and make your own. It would be very boring if we all dressed the same.

I get to really know more about the women in this fantastic community through these programs and they get to know and support each other in a way that is rarely seen on the Internet these days. Amen to the sisterhood, I say.

For the first time ever, I’m offering an annual VIP membership to my seasonal programs. If you’ve been sitting on the fence about joining us, find out more HERE … but be quick, registrations close this Friday, March 9.

  2. Stunning top! So feminine, love a pants outfit instead of a dress for going out. Would look fab with leather look pants. Am going to check it out.
