I’ve long talked up the power of a frock. It’s a single garment that makes an instant outfit, which makes it a no-brainer in my outfit-planning department.
For me, I like to feel comfortable and stylish in a frock, whether that’s for the every day or an occasion.
While I’ll never say never to a little black dress, a printed frock will always get my wardrobe attention.
Belinda Stark is the woman behind Sassy Sister. Belinda has a fabulous lifestyle store on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula and it was listening to what her customers wanted in their wardrobe that prompted Belinda to create her own label.
There are sequins, and wardrobe staples but today I’m featuring a frock that will turn heads but feel effortless to wear.

Sassy Sister dress* (I’m in L but could wear M) | FRANKiE4 Footwear ALANA heels
This is a Sassy Sister dress shape that I’ve embraced previously. It ticks just about every box in terms of comfort and style.
I do love a sleeve on a dress – even in summer. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll get my arms out if need be, but if it’s a work or occasion situation, for confidence, I’ll keep me arms covered.
The shift shape of this dress has a slight a-line to it, making it skim-able across the tummy and hips. It falls to my knee (I’m 166cm), which is an ideal length for me.
The fabric is a rayon fujiette crepe. This is breathable and cool for the warmer months. When you wash it, make sure you give it a good stretch while wet and then iron or steam it back to its former size/shape.
I love the pattern and colour – navy and blush will always get a big tick in my book and this kind of graphic print suits my style personality. This dress shape also comes in black and white; all black, all navy; a blue striped pattern and a blue and pink butterfly print. Check them out HERE.
I need to also talk about these heels. They’re from the latest collection at FRANKiE4 Footwear and are destined to be my spring-summer party heels. This blush colour works with just about everything (you’ll want them in black too!); they are incredibly soft and supportive under foot and the buttery leather straps wrap easily around your lower calf. Stay tuned this week, I’ll be sharing on the blog more new-season releases from FRANKiE4.

Join the Ultimate Capsule Wardrobe online style challenge
Looking for care and support to craft a wardrobe that works for you? Want to learn how to create outfits that make you feel fabulous – and fit your lifestyle?
The concept of my Ultimate Capsule Wardrobe online style challenge is a simple one. I’ve chosen 30 spring-summer clothing and accessories pieces and I will show you 42 different ways to wear those 30 pieces. That’s right – six weeks’ worth of outfits sorted for you to make getting dressed each day a no-brainer.
The idea behind this concept is that I help you get organised so that you make the most of what’s already in your wardrobe. You may choose to buy new items but I know you have great substitutes sitting there ready and waiting in your wardrobe right now.
I also realise that spring takes a little longer to arrive in some parts of Australia. With this in mind, I offer style tips and suggestions on how to adapt your capsule and daily outfits to suit that. I also include shopping and styling suggestions for office wear. You’ll find links to shop for budget, plus-size and petite capsule items.
The six-week plan is your blueprint for the entire season. It becomes your reference point when the warmer months drag on and you’ve lost your outfit mojo. Capsulers, as we have nicknamed ourselves, revert back to that six-week plan for inspiration. And we also shop mindfully to add pieces throughout the season, knowing that they’ll work with that plan.
We hang out in a super supportive closed Facebook group – the magic really does happen there as we get sorted and find our style mojo for the season ahead. The group is where we share our outfits to inspire others – and where you can ask me any burning style questions you might have.
Our members range in age from their 30s through to 60s and beyond. We dress for our attitude, not our age because why should style come with a use-by-date?
The 2017 spring-summer Ultimate Capsule Wardrobe online style challenge launches on Thursday, September 7, 2017. The cost remains the same – pay $99 for up to eight weeks’ personal style support from me.
Will you join us on September 7?
