How to get the Nina Proudman Look Season 7 Episode 6

How to recreate the Nina Proudman look (season 7; episode 6)

Nikki Parkinson Fashion, How to, Nina Proudman 106 Comments

Whenever I think of Nina Proudman, I rarely think of her standing still. There always seems to be so much movement in her character.

I love how Offspring’s costume designers have enhanced that movement through the outwear that Nina wears – and this season it’s all been about the lightweight trench in silk or tencel.

It’s a trans-seasonal layering piece that offers a little warmth between home and work but flows beautifully as a clothing piece without taking away from the outfit underneath.

Remembering that Asher Keddie is quite small, a big coat would overwhelm Nina. An open trench has the opposite effect, instead adding an extra dimension to each look.

This week’s episode featured Nina in a shorter trench over one of her newer style outfits – a knit, wide-legged culottes, neck-tie and boots.

Read on for ideas on how to recreate the Nina Proudman look, including some exact matches, plus your chance to win one of Nina’s favourite trench coats/jackets.

Recreate the Nina Proudman look

In the below look, Nina is wearing a Viktoria + Woods trench; the earrings I’ve matched for you below. The knit is Jigsaw (not current) and Indigo boutique pants. The rings on the left hand are LoveHate. She’s wearing those Seed suede ankle boots again. Boy have they had a great run this season. Hands up if you own some from when they were around last year?

How to get the Nina Proudman Look Season 7 Episode 6

1. Katies coat $79.95 | 2. Anna Coroneo scarf $94.50 @ David Jones | 3. Nicole Fendel necklace $99 | 4. Country Road knit $139 | 5. Livingstone Cooper pants $59.95 (on sale) @ Birdnest | 6. Top End boots $129.95 @ Styletread | 7. Nicole Fendel cuff $99 | 8. Love Hate earrings $75

And can we please gush (A LOT) over Billie’s white off-the-shoulder top?  It was love at first sight at those shoulders – and those statement sleeves.

The de-brief (spoiler alert)

Oh thank goodness for the return of Nina’s dream sequences. Boy we’ve seen some good ones over the years. My all-time favourite being Patrick bare chested with a bear-skin slung over his shoulders. Here’s a visual.

Patrick wearing a bear skin Offspring
Oh, where were we? Right. Dream sequences, steamy Harry and Nina scenes, lots of baby-making business and talk of Nina having it all. Yep, that old female chestnut.

Loved Billie’s line below (backed up by Cherie later in the episode). Loved that Harry totally supports Nina going for Clegg’s old job. Loved Zoe stepping in and demanding they “make a baby right now”. And love that they’re very happy to be jumping on the baby train. Bring on another Proudman baby, I say. And a Kim and Jess baby. And come on Martin, sneak back into St Francis to give that baby-making with Cherie another go.

Don't put a glass ceiling over your own head - Billie Proudman - Offspring Season 7 Episode 6
It wasn’t a total baby-fest of an episode. Billie continues to crack me up with the delivery of the script she’s been given.

Breaking protocol with the last brick in her sex wall by giving Dan her number meant she met her match in the woo-ing department. Despite Dan not showing up for the welcome “party” at the Proudmans, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of him yet. I feel something in my waters between those two.

Meanwhile, I was bawling as Zara gave her backseat plea to Jimmy, asking if they could try again to make their marriage work (just as he was about to spill the beans about his “party pash and a prod” with Kerry). “I miss you; I miss the simple comfort of year.” SIGH.

Kerry skipped over the telling Will bit … roll on next week’s episode for that fall-out.

  1. Spot the difference… the gorgeous Primness trench! I love ninas style as she is so much like myself. I would wear the trench with this outfit: a basic white blouse with some culottes 🙂 I would pair it with my favourite tan boots. Some dainty necklaces and earrings and I’m good to go! Although I would wear it with everything and anything! I would love to win this trench as it is so me!

  3. For me living in Qld it would be all about adding light layers as we move into spring that could be removed as the weather warms up – all in a fresh colour palette of whites and creams: tank, crisp white linen shirt, cropped cigarette pants & a pair nude flats. Finished off a tan crossbody bag and layered silver necklaces and a oversized man style watch.

  4. I’d keep it simple, simple simple! I’d pair it with a white or grey tee with tapered black ankle length trousers, 66 the label scarf and Decjuba (Gucci knock off) mules for a more dressy look or with my fave denim jeans & Frankie 4 white Nat sneakers which I.LIVE.IN. anyway! So pretty!!!

  5. I could see this jacket becoming a wardrobe staple, and honestly, being able to pair it with just about anything. But my signature style is dark turned up jeans with ankle boots and a pretty top. My weekend go to, and this coat would elevate my signature from drab to fab with a swish and a pinch of Nina

There are a world of options for this colour and style but I would wear it firstly with a steel blue lace dress that is tight fitting and to the knee. Nude heels and drop earrings with a embroidered boho clutch to add flair and colour as Nina would.

  13. I love this trench coat…my style would be simple V neck white Tee with dark denim skinny guess jeans, rolled up at the ankle and my Steve Madden dusty pink satin platform espadrilles teamed with rose gold watch and fine necklace – I am a small frame and height so the I would wear the trench open tied at the back to pull it in a little give a bit of a fitted proportion and style…such a beautiful jacket! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/6c21b3b00c763a949804cbae1de93169f2fc674ad74002c5eff52ecfbf867135.jpg beautiful jacket!

  15. Ohhh swoon! I would wear this with my skinny jeans, D.Co Copenhagen knee high boots, and light pink silk singlet, together with my sterling silver earrings (bought from NY via Etsy). Epic comp! Goodluck everyone 🙂 [email protected]

  26. I’d add a splash of faux leather leggings and layered tops with a white undertone and coloured sweater for a pop of colour <3

  27. leave the trench open , black sinny jeans, ankle boots, long black jumper and a beatiful bright scarf that picks up the tones of the coat

  28. Oh gosh how gorgeous is Billie’s top!? I think I’d style the trench with a long line, high neck, black singlet with a slight waterfall hem (obviously a singlet because #QLDWINTER) and a slim fitted pair of khaki pants. Hair in a loose top know with some big Each to Own earrings. It’d be a great outfit for a dinner with girlfriends or minus the earrings and add some cons for a dressy day look.

  29. hi would wear this trench jacket with style .Add pair of jeans or pants dress it up with some nice boots, and scarf, lots of accessories.

  30. Bursts of colour and vintage florals is my style in a nutshell. And this style is always heightened when paired with something neutral and sleek. This timeless Primness trench would be perfect with bright, solid mini dress, vintage floral tights and wedge ankle boots in same hue as this magnificent coat.

  31. Nikki first I would pair it with an IRON. How did they get away with that stock model photo (but that’s just me). Once I got over the inner OCD crease issue, this trench would become the ying to my yang. Pair it with black denim jeans, my Frankie 4 Ellie shoes and a basic T.

  32. I’d be causing a racket in this jacket by wearing my favourite floral Leona Edmiston dress with my Mimco nude heels, I’d tie the trench’s belt behind my back so it flows with me as I walk.

  34. Hi Nikki! I am so loving this Primness coat. I would like to own this jacket by keeping the style relaxed but sophisticated. I would like the coat to speak for itself and let it do the talking! 35. The Primness Rever Jacket in mushroom would be worn of my favourite white shirt and jeans with my black ankle boots with a loose contrasting coloured scarf, a black handbag and I all dressed for a Friday at work and straight out for drinks afterwards.

  36. I see the Primness Rever Jacket in mushroom in my fantasy!!
As Coco Chanel once said ‘a girl should be two things: classy and fabulous’. Personally, I think in this jacket, anyone could be those two things! I feel like this jacket is symbolic, it’s flowy & breezy but on the other hand, its prone to get a little creased & stressed at times and I think that’s totally Nina (and myself)!!
If I was blessed with this stunning jacket I would style it in many ways. I love the relaxed boho style that Nina wears. I would pair the jacket with a white boho embroidered blouse with dark wash skinny jeans and a pair of vibrant sued knee high boots, and topped off with layered lovehate rose gold jewellery, some stack rings. The jacket would also look gorgeous draped over an olive silk slip dress, finished with a pair of simple strapped black heels and a thin gold cuff and gold drop earrings!

I would LOVE to own this jacket!! It’s such a perfect timeless piece.

  40. Nothing better than enjoying comfort and casual style coat to maximise my personal fashion statement in winter. As a middle aged woman, I would match a black colour of silk lose pant, natural colour of kitting top with black ankles boots and a black wool hat . This stylish silk Primness Rever Jack in mushroom would keep me warm from day and night with elegant looks.

  41. Jeans and a white singlet with skinny scarf. Something simple so I can show off this magnificent coat in all its glory!

  42. In this fantasy, I am strutting down Gertrude Street wearing my favourite silk Primness Rever jacket (in mushroom). Outside the sun is shining but it’s no ordinary day, in fact I am on my way to interview for a very big promotion. As I wander into Archie’s to grab my morning coffee, I notice a distinctive swagger in my step. I try to place this strange confidence, this quiet self-assured feeling, and then I catch a glimpse of my reflection in the cafe window… Inside Archies, I am met with a wall of jealous looks and hushed sideways glances. I hear a couple actually talking about how good I look in my Primness jacket. Today I have it paired with a billowy white Tigerlily top, skinny taupe suede belt and sky-blue, wide-leg denim culottes. Draped in gold accessories from Fairley and Fendel, I float off in the company of all my favourite female designers (and channelling my inner Nina Proudman) we smash the stupid glass ceiling.

  43. This trench would be perfect for our Brisbane winter as it isn’t too heavy! I would wear it every day to work with my corporate wardrobe – navy slim pants, draped cream modal top and killer beige patent heels = winner!!

  44. I love love love this trench! I’d love to say I’d be styling it perfectly with skinny jeans or culottes, paired with on point suede heeled boots, but let’s get realistic. I’m going to be chucking it on over trackies to do the school run that we’re always late for, with a smile on my face smugly knowing that I’ve got this beautiful trench on, making everything ok!

  45. I can see this jacket teaming with so much in in wardrobe – from my black silk primness dress down to simple jeans, tee and tan flats. But in reality, I will be rocking it with a toddler in one arm and preschooler on the other hand, a strong coffee and a look of ‘what the hell??’ – who’s cares though, at least I’d look awesome in my trench!!

  46. I would wear this all the time it goes with everything, but i would mainly put it with my skinny jeans and ballet pumps i would definitely take inspiration from Nina with the neck tie it looks so cute.

  47. With the Primness trench, I would wear
Brown suede boots – my favourite pair!
Tight black jeans, black bodysuit as a top,
Mint and blue scarf, and to round it off
My gorgeous new Love Hate earrings, bought
After trawling your site – many things I am taught!
It will be perfect as we head into Spring,
I live in Canberra – winter has been freeeeeeeeeezing!!!

I have been eyeing off this trench since I first saw Nina wear it on Offspring. I have a serious girl crush on her and ABSOLUTELY love your ‘get the look’ posts – I wait for them every week (and then shop, shop, shop accordingly!).

  48. I LOVE the versatility of this trench- it’s https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/d2955508e1424792bff0102a369fd13dcc73e2bab09a6502200a3db6d63c8421.jpg trams-seasonal and has a beautiful flowing effect that adds so much style whether casual or on a night out – my go to outfit for a day out with the girls would be a feminine Maje or Sandra Paris top with some Lace or subtle pattern work, a Mimco scarf in pink tones or blue/green, skinny jeans, ankle boots with a point of difference and fine gold Linda Tahija jewellery.

  49. I would dress it down with navy jeans, brown short boots and soft cream shirt and up with my soft pink and cream silk dress … heels for gorgeous dinner…. but would wear it every day …. show stopper !

  50. I’d pair it with a blue patterned dress dropping just below the jacket length, and black ankle boots. It would definitely also a need a free flowing silk scarf with blue and sea green tones. That’s it!

  51. As I live in Melbourne like Nina (and have a four year old daughter called Zoe!), I would pair the amazing trench with black, black and more black! Black skinny jeans, black lightweight knit plus knee high black boots. With pops of colour in the jewellery. Ahhh I can see it now! 🙂

  52. Ooooh I love this Primness trench, it’s so versatile and would work for so many occasions. I’d make it my own with a long, flowing floral boho dress and a pair of chunky mushroom boots. Long wavy hair and statement earrings would finish off the look

  53. Great episode and fabulous outfits! Did anyone notice Kerry’s gorgeous all white floaty outfit? I’d wear the Primness trench in a similar fashion with silk pants and cami in similar mushroom tones with silver heels and delicate silver jewelery to create a sophisticated boho look.

  54. I’d like to see the Primness Rever jacket with a frothy, Boho winter white blouse, super skinny dark blue denim jeans, mushroom coloured stiletto pumps and some vintage style silver dangly earrings and necklace.

  55. When I wear the Primness Rever
I will be a Boho Diva
Wrapped in Mushroom on the top
First I’d give my hair a lop

Put on lipstick and a face
Grab some boots and add some lace
    Pop a tunic over that
    Add Fendel, and a hat

OMG I NEED that Primness Jacket in my wardrobe stat. Would wear it E.V.E.R.Y day!!! [email protected] or [email protected] PS Love you Nina

  56. If I had this gorgeous jacket I’d style it with a black dress, tights and boots to wear to work, jeans and a boho shirt for the weekend (Spell floral shirts are my fav), and a soft cami and black skinny pants and killer heels to go out (not that I get out much, but would make an effort with this outfit!) and always with some gorgeous Nina inspired jewellery.

  57. What a gorgeous trench – would style this with almost everything in my existing wardrobe. Striped tee with jeans, boots and scarf would work for starters though.
    Cindy F

  58. I would wear it with dark jeans with a silky shirt . Preferably a cream or vanilla colour and nude suede boots. Add a lovely flowy silky scarf with pinks in the colour scheme .

  59. The jacket is such a statement piece I would wear it with a plain white t-shirt and jeans, and my witchery ankle boots…. perhaps adding a gorgeous floral scarf. Love it!

  60. I would wear it with a black long sleeve body suit for a top, a colourful scarf (perhaps my new one that is mint and blue), tight black jeans and my gorgeous nine west suede brown ankle boots. I love love love this trench, have been eyeing it off since I saw Nina wearing it on the show (meanwhile I have the biggest girl crush on Nina and absolutely ADORE reading your blog and Nina style tips – thank you!)

  61. As a Melbourne girl I can’t go past the classic Nina combination of jeans, boots and boho top…however would love to wear it simply over a LBD for date night! Melbourne girls do like their black!

  62. I would wear it alone …..and just a hint of a white cami underneath, teamit with slim jeans or white pants and loafers.

  63. Billie’s shirt was stunning I agree Nikki….all the love heart eyes!
Now let me see if I did win this gorgeous jacket I would wear it with jeans in spring,Autumn and cool days in summer and also over a dress,it’s a classic design that would be in my wardrobe for years to come.

    1. I’m currently on holiday in Italy and have missed the last 3 eps – so thanks Nikki for the catch up each week! Love love this piece, could be worn with basically anything in my wardrobe and as I’m from Melbourne – that’s a lot of black and grey – I need this to brighten everything up.
