The Model and Me: Maiocchi autumn-winter 2017

One of the most fabulous parts of my business is that I get to meet the designers behind some of my favourite independent fashion labels.

These are the people whose creative brains never switch off. I’m in awe of their capacity to be inspired season after season.

One of those designers is the gorgeous Deanne Mayocchi. I’ve been following Deanne’s work since before this blog when I was a journalist. I was taken in by her fabulous prints and nod to feminine, vintage shapes after seeing her show at the very first Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane.

When we moved to Brisbane three-plus years ago, I got to meet Deanne in person and this year we’ve been meeting up at yoga most weeks, solving the problems of the world during our post-yoga infared sauna sessions.

Deanne is so, so talented. There are always more than a few faves in each of her collections – and this frock from the Maiocchi autumn-winter 2017 collection is no exception.

You know how I love the fabric ponte, yes? Well, the thick ponte on this dress is all kinds of magical. It’s got amazing stretch but the thickness of the fabric means that it sits SO well on.

I love that there is amazing structure in this dress, with the fit and flare waist and skirt but I LOVE that you don’t feel like you can’t breathe while wearing this dress. It’s dressed up but with superior comfort levels.

The asymmetrical neckline adds interest and offers a beautiful alternative to a traditional scoop or v-neck. Love the sleeve length for its flattering ways too.

This is the type of dress you could have in your autumn-winter wardrobe for years to come. It would be there for you for an occasion or event and would also serve you well in a corporate office.

Maiocchi is proudly Australian-made.

So tell me, do you love an LBD with a little bit of a fit and flare situation? Obsessed with ponte like I am?
