Stylers, we’re officially in a new fashion season. Autumn-winter 2017 may not be here weather-wise but it’s on our radar when it comes to fashion and what’s in store now.
The tricky part is … how do we transition from summer to autumn without feeling like a Sunday roast in a pressure cooker?
The key, my fashion-loving friends, is loose and light layers. And incorporating a nod to a new-season colour.
This week’s Model and Me feature outfit from Boho Bird autumn-winter 2017 at Birdsnest does all that.
Boho Bird is a label that offers plenty for those of us who love to channel a little bit of bohemian into our wardrobe style.
The model
Boho Bird Spring Day throw | Walking on Clouds tee | Wild Tribe Stitched leggings @ Birdsnest
and me
Boho bird throw (I’m in 14), top (I’m in 14) and pants (I’m in 16) | FRANKiE4 Footwear NiKKi heels | Uberkate Jewels cocktail ring | Nicole Fendel earrings
Let’s break this outfit down, shall we? Starting with the stunning lightweight viscose-cotton kimono or throw. The lace detail and three-quarter sleeves make it an easy add to a tee, cami or tank. Too warm for long pants? Wear with shorts or a skirt.
The tee is a statement in itself and you could definitely wear this on its own and still make an impact with this outfit. Simply add a long necklace. The front sleeves and back panel are bamboo viscose; the back body, polyester.
This blossom/blush colour is one of the key colours of the season. It’s a transitional colour that works just as well with white as it does with grey and black as we head into winter.
Finishing with the white leggings. Comfort plus style has long been my thing. These cotton/elastane pants fit that bill. They have a mid-rise, elasticated waistband with back pockets and stitching on the knee. There is a good amount of stretch, so consider going down a size.

wow! you look lighter ! this is a great look on you and you look BETTER than the model. I have been struggling for the last 10 years with my style. I just turned 45 and i am like enough is enough. So tired of looking frumpy, covering up and want to find items that flatter me than hide. I am not huge, i am average size for an american woman. I am thinking too much about how i used to look (skinny ,athletic figure) and now curvy. Your blog is my style bible. thank you , and bless you.

Love this outfit! I bought the Walking on Clouds Tee in white a couple of years ago and it’s still my go to top when going out. Love this new colour and that kimono!
The style is simple but instantly dresses up an outfit!
I fell in love with the blush pink trend last year … glad to hear it’s still going to be big this A/W!
Me too Janet – glad it’s still around. Will be next season too.
Great outfit, Nikki, love the layers and the colours

Thanks Anna!
I agree with Jane. Looks awesome on you Nikki. I’m 163cm tall. Would that gorgeous top be too long on me. Ooohh and size 14 on the bottom so order a 12?
Jo, I am 162cm and have that top in another colour and I think its fine.
Thanks Kelly. And the wonderful thing about Birdsnest is the amazingly easy return policy if it doesn’t suit!
Very true! The change room too has been a game changer!
I’m only 3cm taller than you. Yes try the 12 in the bottoms!
Great. Thanks so much !!
thanks Nikki, I think the outfit looks much nicer on you than the model. I have been a big fan of Birdnest over the years and living in the country makes online shopping easy with great delivery, prices and amazing customer service. Not sure about the Boho look as long floaty tops tend to swamp me but I do like the pants.
Great to hear that Birdsnest helps with your online shopping needs! Floaty tops can be tricky – I like this one because it’s short at the front.
Oooh I’m loving the blush!
Such a fun, fresh colour to wear!
Gorgeous Nikki I am loving blush and pale pinks I think they suit most people Xx
I think it does too Lisa! x
