The Model and Me: Sassind summer 2017

One of the most wonderful things I love about my business is that I get to showcase and introduce to the Styling You community independent fashion labels they may otherwise not have heard about.

The fashion industry is not an easy one. Ask anyone who’s working in it.

But we – the consumer – often don’t hear the stories behind the labels of the clothes that don’t have the big marketing budgets of chain stores.

This week I’d love to introduce you to a label that’s fast becoming one of my faves. I was first made aware of Sassind, a label that launched in 2015, by a friend who is a friend of the designer.

That friend is a former expat and the label is the brainchild of a woman who has “travelled and worked in luxury hotels for more than 15 years, adapting to our ever changing surroundings and absorbing all that a travellers life has to offer.”

The travel and the need to adapt to new surroundings is the foundation of this lifestyle label which offers versatile casual wear that looks and feels luxe to wear. Fabrications of cottton, silk, merino and cashmere ensure this.

I’ve featured a few pieces on Instagram, including the cotton jersey boxy short sleeve tee, the silk freestyle blouse and the cotton jersey relaxed fit shift dress.

These pieces and the woven cotton dress I’m featuring in this post easily slot into my wardrobe. They always work and can be dressed up or down.

We have forged connections with our makers to ensure that quality is never compromised, that their workplaces are fair and that their love for what they do is the heart of their business. With a commitment to being responsible, honest and forward thinking, we know that our range is the best it can be. Our silhouettes are designed to flatter all body shapes, taking luxury to a new level. – Sassind

You know my love of the throw-on, go-anywhere dress don’t you? Of course you do. Well, this dress well and truly fits the bill.

The cotton is incredibly soft on and the shape of the dress is universally flattering. Yes, it’s an over-sized style but it is cut to move with the body.

It is slightly sheer but I haven’t worn a slip with it for these photos. If ordering in the white or soft blush you may need to wear a cotton slip underneath.

I just love the sleeve length and neckline on this dress. It’s cool and comfortable to wear but offers a next-level sense of style.

The pockets are a lovely bonus and the length is perfect for my height (166cm).

This dress provides the perfect black canvas for accessories. I’ve opted for statement earrings but a statement necklace would work very well here.

I’ve worn heels but I’d also wear sneakers or flat sandals with this dress. This versatility makes it ideal for everything from throwing over swimsuits to blinging up for a night out.

  3. I love the stripe Sassind dress. I bought it after seeing it on you. I do almost all of my shopping online now, ( no time to get to the shops). People often ask me how I can shop online and I tell them I have a personal stylist! There has only been one dress that I sent back but everything else I’ve bought after seeing it on you has been fab! Thanx Nikki.
