The Model and Me: Harlow spring-summer 2016

Oh HELLO November, really how did you sneak up on me like that? Wasn’t it just June?

Stylers, are you with me? Can you believe that we are very much on the downhill slide toward the end of the year and Christmas?

My son finishes school for the year on the last Friday in November. It’s just madness – or it will be because I’ll still be very much working well into December.

The upside? The calendar is a little bit full of fabulous gatherings, catch-ups, parties etc. I say upside, as this year, I’m determined not to over-commit myself.

No is a very powerful word. I’d prefer not to fall over the finish line of 2016, thank-you very much.

It’s been a year of stressy angst for so many – I’ve not been immune to it here with business stuff happening behind the scenes.  So before the year’s end, I’m aiming for a calm equilibrium to my life so that 2017 can start on a very high note.

If you’re with me and you’re looking at the positivity of special pre-Christmas gatherings – or planning your New Year’s Eve outfit – then I have the frock for you.

It’s from one of my fave independent Australian labels, Harlow. Harlow offers premium Australian-made fashion for sizes 12-24. The garments are cut and designed for a curvy figure, regardless of where you fit in that size range.

When checking out the Harlow spring-summer 2016 collection, I immediately fell hard for this frock.

You can see why I fell hard, can’t you?

It’s got all the dress-up/dress-down capabilities I love in a frock. You want to be able to style an occasion piece up and down depending on where and when you are taking her out.

This dress would work equally well with flat strappy sandals in a nude or silver. Being able to wear it with the tie or without also gives you further options. I’ve popped the tie around my neck in the second look. You could leave it off and add instead a statement necklace or earrings.

Of course I love the silver metallic – I’m a bowerbird at heart and will always be drawn to anything that sparkles.

Design wise, LOVE the v-neck, the sleeve, the scoop hem and slide split. They combine to create a garment that is fun to wear, all the while flattering and skimming your curves.

TICK. TICK. TICK.

So tell me, have you got any Christmas parties on the horizon? Love a bit of metallic sparkle in your wardrobe?

  1. Do you have tips for belts/ties when you’re short waisted Nikki? I know you’ve mentioned that previously, I am too.. But this looks great! Is it that you’re wearing it a little higher? I’m terrible at working that stuff out…

  2. Wow, Harlow need to use your photos – the dress looks so much better in your photos. In theirs it just looks grey but in yours you can really see the silver shimmer. Great dress… would love it (belts HATE me too!) but maybe next year I’ll be able to afford it. 🙂

  3. This dress looks fab on you!!! Sexy slinky gorgeous. And I love it belted, I know you don’t do belts that often but you’ve styled this beautifully with the tie. Such a great party dress!

  4. Gorgeous dress Nikki,I love it on you!
