Wow. What a weekend that was. I had never travelled that far inland in Australia and I’m so glad I said yes when Miss Chardy put the call out.
Meeting all the fabulous women at the Barkly Women’s Day was inspiring. Talk about super stylish ladies.
I’ll have more on the blog on Friday about the whole experience but what I need to talk about today is just how hot it was.
Beyond smoking hot, I tell you. The saving grace was that it was a dry heat. Still, it takes some clever wardrobe-ing to dress for such conditions.
Natural fibres are key. Today’s outfit is one that would work (I wore similar for our return journey).
The top is from the spring-summer 2016 Boho Bird label at Birdsnest.

Lately I’ve been cheating on my obsession with all things blue and navy with pink. Not just any shade of pink. No, it has to be a blush/rose quartz situation.
There’s just something about it and it seems to work. It feels fresh to adopt a new colour as your own, don’t you think?
This top ticks all my summer boxes (when I’m not wearing an OTS number). I do look for a sleeve in summer – something that will offer up a little sun protection.
So said sleeved top needs to be cool to wear.
This one is a gorgeous cotton – with embroidery detailing and tassels. Tick. Tick. Tickety tick.
I’ve worn it back with my fave shorts of the season from Bohemian Traders but you could team this jeans or a skirt. In denim or white.
I find that wearing a top instead of a t-shirt feels a bit dressier – you can’t layer so much in summer so I rely on pieces like this to be the interest in an outfit.
So tell me, are you a fan of the sleeved, summer top?

Love it. You had me at pink! Thanks so much for coming up. x
Of COURSE I had you at pink – I’m so glad I did come up Miss Chardy (debrief on the blog tomorrow) x
Love the top, but I wondered if it needs a slip underneath? It’s no longer nice and cool in summer if you have to wear something under it.
I’m not wearing a slip underneath it in the photo Jenny and I also wear cotton slips all throughout summer without any problem.
that top looks lovely on you both thanks nikki!
