The Model and Me: Rasaleela spring-summer 2016

Oh hello. I’m up early this morning and off to the airport, super excited to head to Bali and hang out with 12 fabulous women – Styling You readers – for six days of shopping, spa-ing and sipping cocktails.

It’s a tough gig but I think I’ve spent most of my adult life qualifying for the task.

It was actually quite cool in Brisbane yesterday, strange for late October, so I know that the heat and humidity of Bali will feel like an assault.

As my good friend and one half of the SY community manager team, Kirsten, says, there is only one thing for it … adopt a tropical juice cleanse on arrival. By juice cleanse she endorses starting at the top of the cocktail list and working your way down.

Other ways to keep your cool? Stay in the pool. And if you really have to get out of the pool, dress in cool, comfortable fabrics that breathe with you.

This Model and Me post offers just that – an a-line, tunic-style dress from Rasaleela.

Rasaleela is designed in Australia, and (designer) Trish Louey travels the globe to find her design inspiration. Unique, often vintage-inspired and ethnic prints have become part of Rasaleela’s signature style.

I love everything about this dress.

The print is captivating, inspired by the vintage vibe of the Parisian district of the same name.

The base colour is so fresh. Add navy into the mix and I’m there.

This style of dress is my style of dress. It’s an a-line, longer tunic style that skims the body but also shows shape as it skims.

It’s true to size. I’ve got size 16 hips and the size XL I’m wearing just skims my hips.

I love the small v-neck and gathered, cap sleeve for an easy summer style that is suitable for over swimwear or dressed up for lunch.

The fabric is 100% viscose so beautifully breathable when the heat is on.

So tell me, is this your type of dress? What’s your go-to frock style when the heat is on?

  1. This dress looks really nice on you Nikki. Can you tell I am a bit behind with my SY reading (and possibly missing you a little bit)?!!!

  2. You always look so fabulous in a tunic dress and this one is no exception. It’s gorgeous! Also loved your commitment to the Juice Cleanse while in Bali. Apart from shopping in air conditioned comfort, it’s the only way to beat the heat x

  3. Beautiful dress Nikki I am a big fan of the shift dress too!
Safe travels and can’t wait to see your photos from Bali on IG Xx
