If I had to nominate one dress style that just works for me EVERY time, it would be the shift.
This style skims over my hips and stomach, hides the fact that I have a short waist and takes the focus to my legs.
There’s a whole lot of comfort wrapped up in wearing this style and it’s the type of frock that is so easily dressed up and down.
I have a thing for grey – especially this light shade. The alternate white stripe completes the fresh, summer neutral picture.
I’ve already pledged my love for the shift and this one does tick all my required boxes.
It skims where I need it to skim. Big tick.
I love the cotton/linen fabric (there’s also a 2% elastane for comfort) as it’s the perfect recipe for summer comfort dressing.
The boat neck is flattering, although if you have a larger bust than a DD it may not work for you. The sleeve length is ideal for a little coverage while still keeping your cool.
The length is perfect for my 166cm height. The model is about 10cm taller than me, hence the shorter styling on her.
I’ve left this quite un-adorned – just adding nude block heels – but you could add a statement necklace, a scarf, or a blazer to switch things up.
This is the kind of dress that will take you to work, to lunch or even dressed down and worn with flats over a swimsuit for a day at the beach.
If you are someone who loves a defined waist in a frock, this dress is probably not for you. However, if you wanted to modify it for more shape at the waist, a little tailoring would work.
