The Model and Me: Surafina

Nikki Parkinson Fashion, The Model and Me 13 Comments

Every Sunday I check the weather app for the forecast before planning out my outfits for the week ahead.

I haven’t always done this level of planning but it’s now something that gives me a road map for the week ahead and means that I’m not wasting time each morning deciding what to wear.

It also ensures I’m proactive in wearing more of the items from my wardrobe.

Anyhoo, I took one look at the app and couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Most of the week here in Queensland will be 26, 27 or 28 degrees.

Now, we do have a mild winter but those are seriously spring temperatures. What about all my knits and wraps I want to wear before spring proper hits?

I know – first world problems – but it’s relevant to today’s post because the pieces I get most wear out of, most of the year, are trans-seasonal pieces. Pieces that can be layered up or down depending on the temperatures.

Queensland-based label Surafina has just re-launched its online site with a new trans-seasonal collection that fits that bill.

Last week I wore this dress from that collection and today I’m featuring a ponte pant and tunic top outfit that will easily slot into my lifestyle.

The model

Surafina Neve top and Ponte pant

Surafina Neve top in black $119.95 and Ponte pant in grey $69.95

and me

Surafina Neve top (I'm wearing size M/L) and Ponte pant (I'm wearing size L)

Surafina Neve top in black* (I’m wearing size M/L) and Ponte pant in grey (I’m wearing size L) | Nine West heels (not current)

I’ve long espoused the virtue of a ponte pant for comfort and a little more thickness than a regular legging. They look more dressed up and they have a greater ability to suck you in and smooth over lumpy, bumpy bits.

These ponte pants are mid-weight so not too heavy that you’ll have to cast them aside in spring. They also come in black but I do love the grey as a change up from my regular winter “colour” obsession.

With any legging-style pant, I prefer to cover my front and back bottom with whatever I wear on top. This tunic top would be too short for me without leggings but, with leggings, it falls at the ideal point.

It’s a relaxed style but it is shape creating in its drape and design. The panel and darts at the waist make it fall in an oh-so flattering way.

Detailing of pleather inserts on the sleeves and tie at the neck take this top up a notch in the dressed-up stakes. The silk-look fabric has just the right amout of sheer to look elegant without the need to wear a cami or slip underneath.

On a cool night at the moment, I’d swap the heels for boots and add a knit wrap for warmth. This top is also available in navy for those who don’t do black.

Love a good ponte pant? And an outfit that offers a relaxed but dressed-up style?
