The Model and Me: Motto

Nikki ParkinsonFashion, The Model and Me 5 Comments

It’s no secret around here that I’m a fan of the little black dress. My wardrobe is full of them.

Like stripes and leopard print, I can never have too many.

I don’t subscribe to the theory that black makes you look older … much like I don’t subscribe to most silly fashion rules.

I like wearing black, so I do.

A little black dress never lets me down. For casual – or evening – she is so reliable and open to any accessorising possibility.

Today’s Model and Me piece is, you guessed it, an LBD … but with a twist. It’s from Australian, family-run fashion label, Motto.

and me

Motto Cannes dress | Nine West heels

Motto Cannes dress* (I’m wearing size 16 and am 166cm) | Nine West heels (from last year)

This dress is currently on pre-order – it’s in demand and it’s not difficult to understand why.

Like all the Motto pieces in my wardrobe, this drapes just so beautifully. I love the simplicity of the styling and the way the dress gives the illusion of being two or three pieces.

It is, however, just one piece.

The crepe top floats over the jersey skirt with a choker neckpiece adding a great finishing detail.

I love how the top part of the dress falls to create the illusion of a waist, while the skirt skims and streamlines over the stomach and hips.

It’s a dress you can wear as is if the weather is mild but layer up with tights, boots and a coat if it’s cold.

It’s ideal for travel – a weekend away or further afield – as it can be accessorised to suit any occasion.

So tell me, do you love an LBD with a twist?
