The Model and Me: Boho Bird

Nikki ParkinsonFashion, The Model and Me 22 Comments

If I were to nominate one look that is my signature for cool autumn and mild winter days it would be this one.

A loose boho-style top worn with skinny jeans.

It’s a no-brainer outfit for me. The style of jeans just works and the top skims over the bits I’d like skimmed over around the tummy and hips.

This top is from the Boho Bird label, one of Birdsnest’s own. I’ve talked here this season about two of the other Birdnest labels – Belle Bird and Bird Keepers. Birdsnest very much understands its customers and delivers every time.

Boho Bird appeals to those who have a bohemian streak to their wardrobe personality. And yes, that would be me.

This top very much had me at its shape, colour and print.

If I had to nominate one colour family that just works for me in all shades, it would be the blue family.

My wardrobe is testimony to that. Alongside a bazillion white and black tops, you’ll find a swag of blue ones.

It’s a colour that makes me happy.

This is also a pattern that makes me happy. It’s got interest but isn’t overwhelmingly busy.

The style is supremely flattering, a v-neck, loose fitting sleeves and hemline mean that it’s an instant winner when contrasted with a skinny or slim leg jean or pant.

The fabric is viscose and incredibly soft to wear.

I’ve sized down one size from my normal size 16 bust but I find this is always a good idea in tops with more volume.

When it cools down, I’d add a tan or denim jacket to this look. I’d also wear the top with white or black jeans and boots.

So tell me, is the boho-top-skinny-jean look an autumn staple of yours too?

  1. Nailed it in one Nikki.
One of my all time favourite go-to looks, with a nod to Neens. Have ordered the blouse but how about those wedges?? Serious shoe envy here. #gorgeous

  2. This is also my go-to look, any time in’s cool enough to wear jeans. In fact I have some many floaty, boho tops that they rival the number of stripy tops in my wardrobe. For that reason I’m staying away from the link 😉
But let’s talk about those shoes! I really love the Zoe Kratzmann styling AND they’re in that slightly lighter than navy blue which is so hard to find. I recently purchased a pair of navy clogs with a closed toe otherwise I’d be adding these to the wardrobe.

  3. love the blues on you nikki!
I like blue more than black at the mo! … who am I? … older. softer!
have a good one hun! love m:)X
