The Model and Me: Bird Keepers

THE look of summer is well and truly alive and turning heads for autumn-winter 2016.

Yes, keep those shoulders at the ready Stylers. They are still very much in demand as the season changes.

You’ll have them out in knitwear, silken tops and frocks like this one from Birdsnest label, Bird Keepers.

Birdsnest Bird Keepers dress | Samantha Wills earrings | Nine West heels

Birdsnest Bird Keepers dress* (I’m wearing size 16 and am 166cm tall) | Samantha Wills earrings | Nine West heels

This dress has been a popular seller (if it’s not available right now in your size, do click the option to be emailed when it is back in stock) and it was not difficult to understand why when I first tried it on.

It makes you feel like a million bucks. I do love that in a dress – especially in a dress that is always at the ready whenever the occasion calls.

The fabric has enough weight in it so it skims and doesn’t cling in the places you don’t want it to cling. Wear seamless underwear for a smooth line. I’m wearing a strapless bra and discuss this vexed question here.

The sizing is true to size. I’m a size 16 hips and bust and I’m wearing the size 16.

The three-quarter sleeves are super flattering and elegantly balance out the off-the-shoulder neckline.

Increase the shoulder-statement situation with shoulder-dusting earrings and keep the neck bare.

It’s a dress you could wear now on a cool autumn evening but in winter add a faux fur stole or scarf and a coat.

So tell me, are your shoulders still happy to be out and about this autumn?

Share your outfit to WIN

Every month in 2016 I’m giving away a $100 gift card to help freshen up your wardrobe.

This month you could win a $100 gift card from Bohemian Traders.

Each month, I’ll propose a different wardrobe theme for you to consider incorporating into your #everydaystyle outfit planning.

Each day that you incorporate that theme, simply upload your photo as you would normally, using the #everydaystyle hashtag. To be in the running for the prize, you just need to add the specific hashtag for each month’s theme. You can enter as many times as you like.

This month’s theme is: how to add elements of autumn to your wardrobe when it’s still warm outside (this post might help with ideas). Think the addition of a new-season trend via colour, texture and style in one part of your outfit or accessories. At this time of year, it’s super tricky to do an autumn look head to toe.

This month’s hashtag is: #SYAW16

Your outfit photo could be featured here on the blog with a link back to your Instagram page. Entries close March 31, 2016.

  1. what strapless bra do you wear with this dress. I love it, but I haven’t found a strapless bra for my 38DD bust that will look flattering, be comfortable and not make me afraid that it will fall down. Also, do you wear a strapless spanx style slip with it?

  2. Hi there – you look absolutely stunning Nikki! Can you please tell us about your red lipstick and dangly earrings. I would love to copy your look.

  3. Love this! I’m wondering how stretchy it is as I want to be able to accommodate the baby bump for as long as possible 🙂

  4. Looks so good on you Nikki, a classic LBD never goes out of style and the length of the dress is just right – it is sold out already in all sizes!

  5. That dress is so chic Nikki,it would look beautiful with a faux fur stole!
Love this Model and Me post Nikki this dress is just so elegant and I’m sure it would be in your wardrobe for years to come Xx

  6. Fabulous dress! It just landed in my Birdsnest cart and should be on its way to my front door soon….I might have to start putting my credit card in the freezer every Sunday night. Your Model and Me posts are dangerous! X
