Brisbane-based designer Deanne Mayocchi of label Maiocchi always excites with her seasonal collections.
With exclusive prints and her Australian-made designs, you know you’re wearing something special and buying a piece that will remain in your wardrobe for years to come.
This season’s collection – Orient Excess – is inspired by Deanne’s love of traditional Oriental design, specifically the opulence of that tradition.
What Deanne has done has take that tradition, modernise it, and make it imminently wearable for an exciting twist on the every day or a special occasion.
I’m featuring today a dress that has been super popular – despite being released only a couple of weeks ago.
The model
Maiocchi Eastern Promises dress $210 (sold out via Maiocchi online, contact them for stockist near you or buy via Birdnest – Black or Ruby)
and me
Maiocchi Eastern Promises dress* (sold out via Maiocchi online, contact them for stockist near you or buy via Birdnest – Black or Ruby) – I’m wearing size 14 | Witchery heels | Mimco bracelet
I’m sorry, in my photos the dress is showing up as being more of a navy colour. I can assure you it’s black.
I fell in love with the custom-design print at first sight. I’m not a big floral girl but in this style, it just works and doesn’t overwhelm.
The fabric is a deliciously soft bamboo spandex. It’s very low pill, eco-friendly and crush resistant, so perfect for travel but also for wearing all day and still looking and feeling put together.
The cut is AMAZING. It’s cut to create shape but skim and flatter. A girl cannot ask for me than that in a frock.
I would wear this dress now as is – the fabric is breathable – but as it cools down, add tights, boots and a coat for winter.
If you work in an office, this dress works on its own or with a blazer. For me, it’s the type of dress I’d wear out to lunch or to a networking event.
So tell me, is this a dress that could be very at home in your work or play wardrobe?

Gorgeous dress! It looks very similar to a style of dress that I bought from Maiocchi in 2010/2011, except it had fabric ties attached so you could adjust the fit and the flowers were more primary colours with lots of red and yellow. Good to see that a classic style and shape does not go out of fashion 🙂
This dress is gorgeous and looks stunning on you! x Allison
That dress is beyond divine – no wonder it sold out so quickly!

Oh I LOVE IT! As usual you are rocking this look better than the model! Go you x
Gorgeous print! I’m not a V-neck/wrap dress gal, but will have to look at the other options in the same print. Thanks x
Yes, I love that Em … same print but in other styles so there is always something that will work!
I’m afraid that I can’t wear black up near my face but the ruby one looks devine

I had added this dress to my wishlist on Birdsnest last week in the ruby as I do like Maiocchi dresses- the prints are always delicious.
Looks like I might need to purchase quickly before they sell out!
They’ve sold super quickly through Maiocchi and yes, on Birdnest, the black one has sold out in some sizes too. So, I’d hop on it. I actually thought of you when choosing this dress to feature!
Gorgeous dress. Love the style and pattern. 🙂
It’s such a fab combo Bec x
There is always a place for a wrap dress in my wardrobe. Love this one on you xx
And I find the faux ones work better for staying in place x
Oh what a stunning dress! Absolutely right up my alley in all departments AND looks fabulous on you. x
Thanks Vanessa. It IS up your alley! x
do you think this dress would be breastfeeding friendly?
I think yes … it’s a faux wrap but it’s a stretch material so you can pull the neckline to one side.
Now THIS is a dress I would wear. It’s gorgeous.
Glad you like Hootin Tootin!
I love their new collection! I’d definitely wear this to work. I have a few Maiocchi dresses in rotation and they are favourites. So comfortable and feminine. Rachel x
You rock Maiocchi Rach … my short waist rules me out of many of the waisted designs but they work a treat on you.
