It’s here. The Styling You top 20 beauty products 2015.
This list features products that were released on to the market in 2015 as well as some previous releases that I discovered and fell in love with.
Most of the products below come from the posts I featured each month up in my monthly beauty favourites posts. Others have come from themed posts and sponsored posts.
The big test for their inclusion here was based on whether I was still using them and in some cases had re-purchased once and twice after the original sample had finished.
In most cases I was initially sent the sample to trial and possibly share with you. In other cases I bought the product. For a product to even to be featured on my blog, it has to have some kind of difference or special appeal that warrants a trial and then I have to be blown away during that trial.
With sponsored posts, yes I’m paid to write about those products featured, but I think it’s the ultimate test if long after that job has finished that I’m still using and buying that product because it was as effective and useful as I initially found it.
The top 20 appear below in no particular order but they are grouped in beauty product “type”.
I’ve also included online links to where you can buy the product or contact someone via online to find a stockist near you.
So, with the disclaimers out of the way, let’s roll on with my top 20 beauty products for 2015.
The VERY GOOD news is that one lucky SY reader and beauty lover is going to have a chance to win all 20 products. That’s one big beauty haul. Read on for details on how to enter.
1. Nair Sensitive Hair Removal Shower Cream $8.69: If you haven’t tried hair removal creams or home waxing since the ‘80s (like I hadn’t) then I suggest you embrace. This is easy to use in the shower, saves you a tonne of time and gets fabulously smooth results.
2. St Tropez In-Shower Gradual Tan $39.99: I stumbled on this in Boots in London in June and quickly added it to my shower routine. It was released in Australia in October. The only downside I’ve found is that you have to switch off the shower for three minutes after application before you can rinse off. Apart from that, the result is a very good one.
3. bhave Gun Powder Matt Styling Dust $29.95: bhave has released a range of styling products to complement its hair shampoo, conditioner and treatments range. This is my fave of the new releases as I like to create a bit of lift in my hair towards the back of my part. Teasing and back-combing helps achieve that and styling dust keeps it in place. Love the wand design of this product for control of delivery. Available from selected hair salons. Use the salon locater to find one near you.
4. Klara Cosmetics RESET GLOW $24.99: Get your glow and keep your skin hydrated all day with this product that you can wear as a primer or on its own. I’ve been using it both ways – much like I might otherwise wear a BB or CC Cream. It contains light-reflecting prisms that ensure you look fresh all day long. It’s super silky and lightweight on the skin.
5. MUD CC Cream $8: This budget range of cosmetics burst on to the market in Woolworths supermarkets this winter and quickly sold out – for good reason. The products well and truly stack up with more expensive counterparts. This CC Cream corrects and evens your skin tone and leaves your skin radiant even if you’re not feeling so.
6. Maybelline NY Dream Wonder Foundation $21.95: The formulation of Dream Wonder is fluid so it will actually surprise you that such a lightweight liquid (it’s 12 times lighter than traditional liquid foundations) can deliver the coverage. It does so thanks to concentrated pigments that give you perfect coverage that’s build-able. This is my top budget foundation for 2015.
7. Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly Satin 24HR foundation $50: If you’re still looking for a foundation with a matte finish that stays, this is definitely worth checking out. I’ve had great success with it lasting and keeping that even finish in place all day. I love the finish for an event or occasion as I know I don’t need to worry about touch-ups. It’s worth getting colour matched on this one at an Elizabeth Arden counter.
8. Face of Australia LUMI-tint $12.95: You know how I love an illuminator? Well, here you have a budget option that is so good. It was a limited edition release but there are still product to be found out there. The two most popular shades are When in Rome and Santorini Skinny Dip. Santorini Skinny is a soft pink nude that complements my skin tone. Against animal testing and support cruelty free
9. NARS Dual Intensity blush (in Fervour) $65: This has become my go-to cheek colour product. I use the darker shade (a gorgeous coppery rose) on the apples of my cheeks, back up toward the temple (but easing off the intensity of application as I go). I use the lighter shade (a soft pink) as a highlighter along the tops of my cheekbones, down my nose, on my chin and if my eyes haven’t already been given a highlighting lift, I whack some on there too.
10. Curtis Collection by Victoria Lip Velvet (in pink truffle) $34: I spotted these on the counter at the salon where I get my mani/pedis and spray tans (King’s Beauty Bardon). Correction: I spotted them on the lips of the therapists at the salon. And I wanted in. Specifically, I wanted stunning lip colours that stayed put on your lips but left your lips hydrated like a gloss. So I bought this colour and a vivid pink – cosmopolitan – and have not stopped wearing them. Paraben free and vegan friendly
11. ModelCo Lash & Line Superlash Mascara + Liquid Eyeliner $24: Oh I do love a hard-working, effective multi-tasker in my makeup kit. At one end is a “tube” mascara that coats each lash for zero smudge all day. If you’ve never used a tube mascara, it’s a bit strange at first but the results of the formula covering each lash in a tube are amazing. The brush is designed to lift and lengthen the lashes. At the other end of the product is a liquid eye liner. It’s a fine-tipped applicator that glides on easily and the formula won’t feather or move all day.
12. Laura Mercier Face Illuminator in Indiscretion $42: A beautiful face illuminating hybrid product with a soft rose gold shimmer perfect for highlighting. The unique formula based on high pearl levels provides build-able long-wearing colour. I wear this over the top of my foundation as a way to get an all-over glow happening. It was released as a limited edition product but you’ll still find it selected stockists, including David Jones.
13. Swisse Micellar Makeup Remover $10.95: Swisse is probably more known for its vitamin range but it’s far from a giant leap for this company to make the move into skin care. And it has done, with a range nutrient-enriched, natural skincare products. I’m a huge fan of Micellar water for taking off my face at the end of the day and this one will very much appeal to those who would prefer a more natural formulation. It’s synthetic-fragrance free (you’ll only detect the cucumber extract which your skin will love), and free from a whole bunch of stuff including SLS, SLES, Parabens, PEGS, mineral oils etc. Importantly it works, removing all the makeup and grime of the day. Not tested on animals, RSPO-certified – only sustainable sources of palm oil are used
14. Trilogy Make-Up Be Gone Cleansing Balm $36.90: Cleansing balms are the new black when it comes to getting off your makeup at the end of the day. Balms such as this work to dissolve away even the most stubborn waterproof and long-stay products. You apply a quarter of a teaspoon on to your fingertips and then massage into your face – on dry skin. Rinse the face washer in warm water and then gently wipe away makeup and balm. It’s so, so luxe on your skin thanks to a formula of mango seed butter, certified organic rosehip oil and sunflower seed oil. Cruelty free, no petrochemicals
15. Garnier Miracle Skin Cream $19.95: This is instant radiance in a tube. While instant transformation is great and very much a win, what sets this product apart is that it’s the first anti-ageing skin transformer. It works over time to help correct the signs of ageing by targeting wrinkles, dark spots, uniformity of skin tone, firmness, radiance and hydration.
16. Go-To Skincare Face Hero $44.95: Ever since I chatted to Zoe Foster-Blake about her skincare brand, I knew at some point this super clever beauty brain would add in a face oil. I like to apply an oil or serum on my face both morning and night and this one fits the bill. It’s a combination of 10 plant oils including certified organic Buriti, Brazil nut, macadamia, rosehip and calendula. Face Hero absorbs beautifully, giving your skin a moisture boost while protecting and brightening. I particularly love how it calms the skin – sometimes I need this extra boost as my face is the first to show any signs of stress. Cruelty-free and free from a bunch of nasties.
17. Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence $39.99: Olay scientists designed anti-ageing actives that boost cell renewal for faster, noticeable anti-ageing results – and the Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence is key to setting up your skin to improve the penetration of those actives. In a nutshell, this pre-essence boosts the power of the serum and moisturiser you layer on top afterwards. I love the way it feels on my face and it’s become a firm fixture in my routine.
19. NIVEA Cellular Anti-Age range $27.99 each: The premise of the formulation behind this product is that young skin cells work more effectively so if you need a helping hand in the skin cell department then the combination of ingredients in this product works to help make the cells feel younger again. It’s available in a night cream and day cream with SPF15 as well as an eye cream.
20. Sodashi Enzyme Face Polish $110: This amazing product has been a best seller this year thanks to its face-smoothing and brightening genius. Use once or twice a week after cleansing. Pomegranate fruit enzymes, rice powder, sweet orange and geranium are the key ingredients at work here. Not tested on animals, free from all synthetic ingredients

Ageless <3
Oh I’m glad your skin is happy!
I just used the Instantly ageless cream and completely fell in love with the product. Works fast and it makes you look amazing.
I know I am late in responding to this but I have been cruising around Tasmania on my motorbike. As you can imagine, when travelling for a few weeks on a motorbike you have to be space savvy. My makeup kit was bare bones, existing of Garnier Mircale Skin Cream and Nivea Cellular Anti- Age night cream along with a brow brush, a mascara and a lip balm.
The Garnier and Nivea got me through sleet, snow, wind, sun and rain.
Love them!
Great comp thanks Nikki. The product I have discovered
and love is the Garnier BB cream. Only received it in the goodies bag from the LittleBlogBig day and now part of my every day routine. I have been a
powder/mineral foundation ever since I started work and mum made me pay for my
own makeup, so well over 30 years. However now use this every day….just on its
own if not going out, or just needing a slight ‘top up’ to give me a full
makeup feel. Thanks
I have spent a bomb on all manner of skincare ,primers, foundations that I’ve barely room to store them. But the one I couldn’t leave out of my holiday necessities is the Olay Pre Essence. It hydrates my skin and let’s foundation sit smoothly.
I have to say that before I used eye base under my eye-shadow I never new what a great product it was! Not only does it make your eye-shadow last all day but it makes the colour so much more intensified. I use one from Girlee which lasts ages, which I sell to my clients when I do a personal colour analysis, its $25+postage.
Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara – It separates, it thickens, it’s build-able and best of all its $6.95. i have been through 3 tubes already. I have used Benefit they’re real, badgal and many more brands, but i keep coming back to this one! I want to keep this little secret to myself, cause its so good. 🙂
Have started using Estée Lauders Bronzing You powder bronzer. Love the way it applies as a skin coverage giving a glowing natural look. Also the packaging is amazing being in a compact form with its own inbuilt mirror and application brush. It has adaptability and can be used as a powder, a bronze highlighter or a blush ( I’m sure it could also be adapted as a eyelid colour powder but only just thought of this so will try tomorrow!)
As you can see I cannot say enough about this newfound item in my cosmetic drawer!, love it!,
Ella Bache lightweight eyecream, just feels so great, luxury in a little tube!
I’ve fallen in love with Benifit’s cult classic ‘They’re Real’ mascara, because I’ve never gotten so many compliments on my lashes in my life! A few friends have even mentioned that they thought I was wearing falsies, & who doesn’t love that confidence booster?!
I have been using Garnier BB Cream for the past year and I have found it to do exactly what it claims – Reduces redness (with my ageing skin, this is a great solution to this issue), hydrates and my skin tones does look more even. In my opinion, apart from surgery, nothing stops the ageing process but this product is suitable for all types of skin especially sensitive. What more can I say except I love it.
Love Endota ceuticals daily moisturiser spf 50. Light on and love the high spf. Makes a good primer under bb cream. Thnx for the blog Nikki. Happy Hogmenay to you and yours.
Within two minutes, Instantly Ageless immediately reduces the appearance of under-eye bags, fine lines, wrinkles and pores.
This specifically designed micro cream targets areas that have lost elasticity — revealing visibly toned, lifted skin.https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/03bed5bc97dd218d5214626334c11bacecbe9a7d5d0fe389af7fe3d93bfc7d61.jpg
One of the best products I tried this year & love is La Roche-Posay sunscreen which I use on my face as a moisturiser. It has a 50+ spf, great for sensitive skin & feels gorgeous on my skin & gives a dewy look.
My favourite product has been Clinique’s Superdefense Eye Cream. It’s one of the few eye creams with SPF 20, a big plus, is a wonderful moisturiser, perfect for under makeup, and I’ve had absolutely no problems with using it on my sensitive skin. I love it and tell everyone about it.
While I was in Hawaii I visited the wonderful Sephora and picked up some Sephora brand Instant De-puffing Eye-masks. Soooo great! Pop one on and have a lie-down for 15 minutes and it looks like you’ve got a full 8 hours.
Ageless – Super!!!
I love La Roche-Posay BB Cream. It has a high UV factor and is moisturising but not greasy. The best feature is it’s colour – it is the most natural skintone of any BB cream I have tried.
I think the one stand out product I have tried this year is definitely the Go-To Face Hero! I have very sensitive eczema prone skin and this stuff is just the best! Since using it I have had no trouble with eczema breakouts on my face and my skin looks brighter and more hydrated!
Love love love the Garnier Miracle Skin Crean! It sits in somewhere between a moisturizer and a foundation! No hassles of being shade matched..which is perfect for my Asian skin and it instantly evens out and brightens my skin! Am on my 3rd tube already:)
The product I would say I found this year and love the most is Dr. Lewinn’s Reversaderm Glycolic Clarifying Cleanser. It doesn’t leave me feeling dry, but does keep pores clear (which I worry about on my nose, and since using this have had women remark how lucky I am to have small pores!). I find it removes most make-up as well, I might have to use a cotton tip with eye make-up remover to get the last bit of waterproof mascara off my bottom lid. It also helps to calm redness down – I am a pale freckly redhead, so do have a little sun damage with broken capillaries on my cheeks.
I first purchased this to try (after reading up about it) in July, I use this morning and night and just ran out last night. I feel this is great value for money – it may even last others longer, I tend to use 1.5-2 pumps, rather than just 1 pump. It retails for $35 but I buy when on special for around $25.
*FYI, if anyone is looking into this product, I am 37 & live in Brisbane climate, so it depends on the season as to whether I am slightly sensitive/normal/dry or normal/slightly oily skin type. As mentioned I am pale & freckly with some redness.
After having my babies my already thin hair is falling out and thinner than ever. I’ve discovered salt water texturising spray, ( Tony and Guy is a good one) it makes my hair feel fuller and all beachy, I love it. Oh and plain coconut oil as a hair treatment and all over bath oil for super soft skin and silky hair, it feels gorgeous.
The one product I discovered this year is the Nuxe lip balm. Unlike Paw Paw cream that feels quite drying after a while this balm keeps your lips hydrated for a long time. It’s amazing! Love it and will definitely repurchase!
What a wonderful giveaway!
This year I did the L’oreal Revitalift 14 day challenge. Wow it was good. I’m on the cusp of turning 50 (yikes can you say 2 weeks). Anyway I’m finding my skin is changing dramatically and quickly. It can’t get enough moisture. Revitalift is helping but now I need to find it with Spf. Seems to always be sd out.
Merry Christmas Nikki! Thanks for an inspiring 2015 of blogs.
Hi Nikki… I have tried a lot of new products this year.. Some cheap and cheerful others not so much! I am still yet to find that elusive jar of magic to fix all cures but alas, I will continue my search! I do want to try the Miracle Duo that I have read much about on your website but I forbid myself to buy it until I have used up my current range of skincare ( that I paid a lot for and haven’t seen any difference?!). I have tried a few primers this year and I am very fond of the Napoleon Perdis whitening and brightening primer…. I really notice the difference when putting on my foundation, so I do thank you for your tips…. I read often but hardly ever post! Thanks. Danni.
In my quest to go low tox, I’ve recently tried and tested levera BB cream and it’s incredible. No nasties at all!
Love the look of some of these prods, especially the in shower tan. Now that’s innovative! Xx
I have tried Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E. I use it at night after cleansing to moisturise my skin. It has had amazing results on my neck – making the skin look younger and less lined. I love it and highly recommend it for mature skin.
I bought the Tarte Energy Noir palette this year and I love it. Beautiful eye colours that can be used in many combinations, including darker ones that can be smudged on as liners, and a nice neutral blush. I think it’s the perfect travel palette.
Rosehip Oil – wish I had got onto this band wagon earlier as the difference ti has made to my skin in just a few weeks is nothing short of a Christmas Miracle!!!
Have tried the full range of the Luminecse Skin care by Jeuness and absolutely loving it! Never used any skin care products on my skin – hated the feeling of been covered and had to wash them off as soon as I had them on.
But as I have turned 40, I have decided that I needed something to moisturise – and I found my dream-magic cream 🙂
I finally tried Micellular cleansing water and I tried the garnier trial size. I was sure it would be just another make up fad but I was wrong. I was amazed at how much better it cleans my face of make up than a foaming cleanser. The other bonus is for some reason at night or when it’s cold I hate to put water on my face (is that just too weird) and would often go to bed with my make up on. Micellular water means I get to go to bed like a good girl with her make up OFF! I’m going to try the Swisse one because I love products with a nice smell and garniers has none. 2015 has taught me to give new products a go, they might not all be a fad, I might even find a gem!
I am not a lady that enjoys the whole makeup routine! I just want a foundation that is perfectly balanced, both in feel and colour, easy to apply and looks fabulous. I have found the holy grail! Lancôme Miracle Cushion comes in a cute compact with a seperate section for the application sponge which is refillable, so no need to buy the whole thing again which makes it cost effective after the initial outlay.i can just use a little for everyday wear and more for evenings out but always gives a soft, dewy, hydrated, glowing look that’s totally weightless. Mine is Beige Peche and loves my 54 year old face….and I love it right back!
Finally my eyebrows are tamed and making a positive statement with my Benefit Browzings brow shaping kit. The combo of a soft tinted wax and matching powder, along with 2 perfectly shaped brushes, is perfection for me. All in a small, travel friendly compact with a good mirror. Zingy eyebrow heaven!
I love Garnier Micellar Water, amazing how it removes makeup easily and gently and has made me skin clearer and softer
Forgot to add the photos!
Before and after photos using L’Oreal Elnett Satin Volume Heat Spray.
I discovered L’Oreal Elnett Satin Volume Heat Spray. At first I was sceptical that it would be able to provide both heat protection and lock out flyaways and humidity but I was excited to give it a go.
I love the stylish look of the bottle and the locking button on the lid is a great safety mechanism for children. My hair is really curly and fine but there is a lot of it and I am constantly looking for products to tame it straight but still give me some amount of volume.
Since the product is heat activated I decided it was best to use it on wet hair. After washing and combing my hair I applied it into the roots and around my head by lifting up sections of hair and spraying. I then blow dried and styled my hair straight with a round brush to get some volume.
The result was a light and airy feel with no claggy or pasty feeling and my hair did not feel weighed down at all. It gave me just the right amount of volume from the roots and a little texture which I like.
As for its claim of “three days” volume I would have to say I only got
two days out of it but I do toss a lot at night and my hair is really unruly so other people may find they get three.
Overall I am really happy with this product and it exceeded my expectations. It is an enjoyable and easy to use product and it will certainly be replacing my regular old fashioned mousse.
I’m a sad public servant who works in a grey cubicle village with air conditioning rivalling the temperature of Winterfell. I discovered the Clinique Moisture Surge overnight mask, which leaves my skin plumptious in the morning, and prepares my skin for the ravages of the frosty temperatures. Add a light dusting of The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer and nobody is any the wiser that I’ve spent too much time the night before watching beauty YouTubers, and ordering more products online.
Nivea In Shower Body Lotion. Best invention ever. I can moisturise and stay in the shower long and when I finally have to come out, I can just wipe, whack on my clothes and go! No need for that extra step of moisturising.
I bought Micellar water on special not knowing much about it, I use it after cream cleansing or using a make-up remover wipe, I was amazed at how much dirt and grime came off even after I thought I had cleansed thoroughly, this is now a must have product for me!
During 2015, the product that I have tried, tested and fallen in love with is the Lacura Beauty Face Primer 3 in 1. It is absolutely true to what the blurb on the tube promises – “Smooths, Protects and Moisturises”. It is SPF 15, oil free, won’t clog pores, is low irritant and suitable for sensitive skin. You can wear it under make-up and it keeps it in place all day, or wear it alone and it miraculously evens out and hydrates your skin, making it look and feel better even without any make-up! I often just dust a little loose powder over the top once the cream has absorbed for a natural, fresh look. It comes in a 50ml black, white and gold tube – with a handy flip top – that is a great compact size for popping in your handbag AND a little goes a long way. Oh, and it’s an Aldi product, so it’s budget priced too! It’s an amazing product at a bargain price – gotta love that!
Swisse Micellar Makeup Remover – its cheap, effective and good for your skin. So easy to use, leaving your skin feeling refreshed. Thanks for the recommendation!
My mum bought me a bottle of good old “Nivea In-shower body lotion” a month ago. I am loving it! It is honey scented and it also doubles up as a quick moisturizer! Great when you are in a hurry. You use it as a body wash and when you get out of the shower your skin is so silky and smooth and smells lovely! No need to moisturize 🙂
Sisel International mineral lipsticks that are lead free and safe. Alluring colours that not only accentuate your look but deliver healthful ingredients that nourish your lips. Silky, all-natural blend of exotic oils and lavish butters that smooth, protect and enliven your lips to make them pout-proof.
Trilogy rosehip oil … nothing makes my skin smoother or more scented!
I have switched my Loreal skin care to Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence along with the serum and moisteriser – the wrinkles on my forehead are less noticeable and i enjoy beautiful smooth and supple facial skin. i love it so much that i also use the same products on my hands
I discovered Hydraluron (serum) by Indeed Labs, it gives your face exactly what it says it will…INSTANT HYDRATION.
it works instantly…the first time I used the serum I could notice the difference straight away, asked hubby what he thought, he said “my face looked plump & less wrinkly” lol thanks babe.
Especially during this stinking heat where my face is usually looking rather dehydrated & so dry, my face is feeling absolutely ‘hydrated’ & so much better than it was before……truly amazing stuff, I love it, definitely a convert & I’d recommend Hydraluron to everyone!
Benefit Big Easy bigger than bb cream. Amazing!
I tried garnier micellar water and it was brilliant. Perfect for removing makeup and making the face feel refreshed
Clinique all about eyes rich. It is the best eye cream I have ever used. Doesn’t sting my eyes, stops puffiness and deeply moisturises the dry skin around my eyes. The one product I can’t live without now.
Garnier Micellar Water – It’s light, quick & simple but most importantly it gets my eye make up off!
I have been super impressed with the J Bronze products from Jennifer Hawkins. As a St Tropez mousse user from back in the day when you could only find it online, the J Bronze mousse tanner (I use light) is amazing; skin softening, fragrant, natural colour, long wearing and idiot-proof! But its the Daily Beauty Balm SPF 50 face tint that I now use daily – I mix it with my moisturizer for a hint of bronze and wear it as is or under makeup. Its lovely!
This year I tried the e.l.f Brightening eye colour pallet in Butternut and it has been the greatest eyeshaddow I’ve ever tried.I have fallen in love with this product because its so easy to apply, blends well and looks fantastic.
Dr Lewinn’s Hand & Nail Cream – works instantly with NO greasy feeling at all. Dry cuticles & roughness disappears – & stays away! Amazing product.
I’ve loved La Mav’s organic BB cream. It’s 12 hours night sleep in a bottle and includes Sunscreen which is perfect as I’m a SAHM of two under 4 and beyond a shower and deodarant, I’m lucky to leave the house wearing cosmetic anything. I’m as simple as I comes with my products and if I can be used in the shower, quickly before seeing anyone before exiting the car- I’m a fan. Would love to pretend I’ve stepped out of a salon and treat myself with your tabloid giveaway
Lucas Paw Paw! I swear I use it everyday for lip-gloss, cheek glow, taming eyebrows and for dry patches!!!! LOVE!!!!!
My find has been the magical moisturiser with SPF15 – OLAY’s Regenerist revitalising hydration cream, used twice a day. Gran. has been for decades a firm believer in the goodness of OLAY products. I agree!
Estee Lauder – double wear foundation- I broke up with Mac Studio fix when I finally gave in an bought a bottle. A little goes miles and after a day full of work, sun, sand, water, sweat it will certainly outlast you.
BB Creme – Not a foundation nor a moisturiser but it does both. As my daughter would say, “I don’t look cake faced”. However all brands claim do 7 or more different things, after asking on numerous occasions no-one can tell me what they are 🙂
Even though it has been available for a number of years now I have only just used it the first time this year – NIVEA Q10 Plus Anti – Age Hand Cream. It really has visibly reduced the signs of ageing of my hands and they are so soft now!
I tried the Maybelline Dream Wonder foundation after reading your review (and scoring it for 40% off at Priceline) and was really happy with it. After using powder foundations exclusively for years, I loved the way it went on as a liquid but settled into a powdered finish – the best of both worlds!
[email protected]
Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist – I carry it in my handbag. When the hot flush arrives, when I am frazzled or just because, it gives me a lift and a refresh, both physically and mentally! It lasts for ages and is a good quality product.
I loved Benefit’s ‘They’re Real’ mascara. It makes my super-short, blonde eyelashes look long and natural and, unlike most mascaras I’ve tried, it does not irritate my eyes.
Benefit High Brow is an amazing brow-lifting pencil. Just apply under your brow for an instant brow lift.
I have started using the Go-To range and apart from some funky marketing the products make my skin feel fresh and clean. Being ethically clean as well, gives this range the thumbs up for me
Models prefer concealing palate. From Priceline, cheap, works!! Comes with instructions on the back, covers zits, uneven skin tone and for me especially the dark under eye shadows!! Which is s blessing this time of the year.
Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence has easy apply texture to hydrate my dry skin and reduce sings of winkles. It doesn’t break my bank but it has big brands results. Olay is a trust skincare products with superior quality. It has been my favourite skicare brand for years.
Garnier Micellar Water – the best, most gentle and effective cleanser I’ve ever used. Finally one that doesn’t destroy my skin (which doesn’t like being caked in makeup anyway)
I tried Jamberry nail wraps for the first time a few weeks ago and I LOVE them! After years of struggling to get to a salon for shellac or living with chipped polish, I have finally found something that looks fabulous while it stands up to the road-test of my life on a farm!
I discovered the Garnier Miracle Skin Cream, it keeps my skin looking so smooth and fresh
I have discovered Paula’s Choice products: my favourite is the Clinical Retinol 1% cream. I feel it has improved my skin tone and texture. I’m 48 so I’m not expecting to turn back the clock to 28 but I feel the product has really helped regenerate my skin, so much so that I don’t feel I need as much makeup and often go out with only a bit of concealer as opposed to the full BB cream.
Definitely Face Hero…and micellar water was also a fun beauty discovery this year!
My favourite product from 2015 is The Body Shop Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalizing Facial Oil. This blend of 3 oils smells amazing, is economical, lasts forever & really does live up to its name, restoring life & radiance back into my complexion. Can’t recommend it enough!
I’ve discovered the SKII face masks. Yep, they’re expensive, but MUCH cheaper than a facial and you get 5-10 masks (using each a few times) per pack, so bargain. The added benefit with these masks is that they make you look like something out of a horror film when you’ve got them on. Play your cards right and scare the kids by jumping out from behind the door with one on early. Then sit back and reap the rewards. Peace and solitude at least once a week and noticeably better skin to boot!
Garnier Miracle Skin Cream not only priced really well but works a treat too
I discovered Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express mascara – terrible name but awesome product for someone like me with pale fine lashes – they lengthen and thicken giving me fabulous lashes!
My great discovery this year is a bit on the expensive side but well worth every cent. The Clairsonic facial cleaning brush! Oh my! My face no longer suffers from breakouts even at my more ‘mature’ age and my pores no longer are the size of mini craters, in fact I would almost say they are invisible to the naked eye. A great one minute addition to my morning shower.
My skin has loved using Trilogy Vital Moisturising Cream. I look so much better for it and my skin smiles from within. The difference is very noticable and my skin colour and tone has improved immensely.
My discovery product this year that I fell in love with was the Happy Skincare’s Cloud 9 Cleansing Balm. I’m 46 with really dry skin, so it’s important for me that my cleanser isn’t harsh and doesn’t strip my skin of its natural oils. This cleanser is a pale lemon colour and is like a malleable butter consistency. It removes all types of stubborn makeup, feels amazing – has like mini bubbles of heaven that explode against your skin as you massage the cleanser in. I use on dry skin, I feel I get better results this way. Cloud 9 smells beautiful, with its citrusy, uplifting scent. If all that isn’t enough ….then I can also tell you that it’s 100% natural and is a multi-tasking product……the luscious balm is also great for taming, de-frizzing hair, makes cuticles soft, perfect pampering for your feet and toes and can also be used as a barrier cream, to protect skin from harsh winds or environmental issues.
This beauty haul that is up for grabs is jaw-dropping and one of us is going to be experiencing a few Christmases all at once!!! After reading your list of products, Nikki, I have made a note of quite a few I want to try out – the first on my list is the Klara Cosmetics – Reset Glow…I love my highlighters, illuminisers….any product that can provide me with that healthy ethereal glow.
My fingers are crossed but I still also wish everyone Good Luck and would like to wish you, Nikki, a very Merry Christmas and look forward to a 2016 full of awesome reading from you xoxo
My one-true-love product for this year is one that you’ve referred me to … Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. It’s sensitive on my skin, leaves my skin feeling super clean, it’s affordable and now even comes in a travel size. What’s not to love?
From your earlier recommendation, I have been using and loving Urban Decay The Nakeds no 3 palette. Love Love Love it!
Curtis Collection by Victoria Lip Velvet
You know that saying? “Get up, dress up, show up & never give up”?
I live by it! That’s why I loved this lippy when I tried it. Just that little bit of colour on your lips (when you might not necessarily feel like putting a whole face of make-up on) makes such a difference. Not only to how you feel but to how you look. I love that this product isn’t drying and doesn’t look as if it’s painted on and set like concrete. It’s moist and dewy and fresh. It’s an absolute must have for my beach days over the Summer holidays!
Go-To Skincare Face Hero, Combat an oily face using Oil, certified organic, cruelty free, no nasty chemicals, kind to your skin reducing the red, miracle product 🙂
NARS Bronzer powder. I’m 51 and had never really worn makeup until I was escorted to the makeup counter by a colleague young enough to be my daughter and introduced to the wonder that is bronzer. It makes a tired face look amazing!
Garnier Micellar Water, amazing how it removes makeup easily and gently. Best invention since sliced bread IMO 🙂
The Alpha-H Liquid Gold it was amazing! I can’t believe you can feel the difference instantly.
Alpha-H Liquid Gold – I love how soft and clean my skin feels after using this product, and it has definitely improved my skin’s texture!
Miracle Sleeping Cream – Garnier – Its fantastic! It really is a miracle worker. I feel so revitalised and refreshed when I wake up in the morning.
Benefit Cosmetics “They’re real!” lengthening mascara. Doesn’t clump or flake and looks great. It really does make my lashes look longer, thicker and curls them.

My absolute hero product this year has to go to Face Hero by GO-TO… it has absolutly fixed all my winter skin issues.
Actually i would happily add any go-to product to my must use list.
[email protected]
L’Oreal CC cream – I turned 30 two years ago and found that BB cream just wasn’t quite right for my skin…Then I went to Mecca Cosmetics and I was introduced to it – love at first try!
ModelCo’s eyeliner pencil – it’s the best one I’ve ever tried; goes on smoothly and STAYS on. It’s easier to use than any liquid eyeliner with which you have to not blink until it dries (!) and it defines a lot better than most pencil eyeliners. The sharpener in the lid is a very convenient bonus.

I have discovered Sally Hanson Airbrush Legs. I have never been comfortable about baring my legs but this product ìs like a miracle. I use the medium.
There has been a few standout products new to me this year. Ive tried a few of the swisse range and have liked everything so far- the Kakadu plum serum and the glycolic gel cleasener to note 2,standouts. I also purchased an hourglass bb which is brilliant. Buildable cover with a lovely amount of illumination giving a lovely glow. I realise I am late-ish to the party on hourglass products but they really deliver. Of your pics I have some reset glow to try, and have a couple of others, but would love to try face hero, the nars blush, Laura mercier illuminator and the Elizabeth Arden foundation for a notch up on my current base.
Sukin Rose Hip Hydrating Day Cream, this product has helped my face and neck area immensely. This year I had a spinal neck fusion, leaving extremely tight skin on the scar site on my neck, I looked for a natural cream, that smelled nice, had active ingredients, and was cheap, that could bring back my pre operation skin. This cream has done it,, where before I truly doubted I’d ever lose the tightness of the scar, it is the best product for me this year as my skin is soft, flexible and there is only a slight mark of the scar, people have to ask me where it is now, ( I am also using it on the back of my hands and it fades sun spots). It may do other things, I’ve yet to try, and try I will, next will be elbows! [email protected]
Weleda Skin Food – best all-rounder moisturiser with no nasties in it – rich and thick so it can be used like a balm, but as I have dry skin I use once a week on my face overnight. You can use it as a lip balm, foot, hand and body cream. It even works as a primer under make-up. I absolutely love this stuff and always have a tube in my bag now. Love that it is free of anything artificial, it’s cruelty free and vegetarian. Amazing stuff.
I recently discovered Nude Skincare (not to be mistaken by Nude Makeup). Absolutely love the healthy and luminous skin I now have. Quite pricey but rightfully so given they are packed with Omega’s, Probiotics and Minerals.
If anyone has questions about Instantly Ageless #18 above feel free to message me. I am a distributor and can answer from experience using the product, how to find it and anything else about the company that makes it Jeunesse Global. http://www.agelesslooking.com
I recently started using Arbonne’s calm skincare range and it’s absolutely fantastic. I suffer quite badly with roseasea and finding gentle cleansers and exfoliating products have been difficult. While nothing will fix or truly solve my skin care issue, using products that minimalize it helps my confidence immensely. The daily gentle cleanser leaves my face soft and clean, and my pimples have even cleared up. Love it.
I have bought the Face of Australia Primer – love it and such a good $ Garnier BB cream and have had a few compliments on my skin which isn’t bad for a 50 yr old, the Olay range with the miracle boost and moisturiser – am enjoying those and I have bought my daughters the Micellar water for Xmas because at 20 and 23 they are still lazy about their skin care. thanks for all your great recommendations Nikki 🙂
My skin had gotten very dry and scaly so I went in search of a body wash and moisturiser. Best discovery ever has been Aveeno skin relief body wash and moisterising lotion. My skin sucks it up and it feels soft, smooth and velvety. Love it!
This year I have loved The Beauty Chef Dream Repair Serum, it feels so good on the skin and smells divine. Now off to they some of your recommendations Nikki 🙂
I’ve never been very good with painting my own nails, I find I’m too impatient and they’ve smudged while I’ve slept but I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the longevity, easy application and price point of the Essence nail polishs. (Target & some chemists) The base coat dries before you’ve finished the other hand and two coats of colour and one top coat are all done within an episode of Home & Away. Results last too. I got a full 7 days with the navy blue without chips and lots of shine. At less than $4 a bottle with fabulous wearing power it’s a no brainer for me.
The only beauty product that I ‘tried and tested’ this year was LaMav, and I must say, I am in love with the Vit-C Advanced Nightly Repair Nectar. Perhaps ironically what I enjoyed most this year was giving up on make up all together. Yep, at 38 – I quit make up. Aside from mascara on an odd day – its just me and a SPF50 plus moisturiser. My white, oily skin with the odd pimple is who I am, and I am not hiding away from it. I feel more confident then ever before. I do though have a very fancy wedding to attend in January and thinking of splurging and getting some smokey eyes :)-
This makes me realise how much I need to try some new items! The only new-to-me element this year to my super-simple routine is aveeno gentle cleanser at the end of the day – very creamy and leaves me feeling fresh with the day’s grime washed away.
Nikki hands down my fave beauty product this year, is Jergen’s BB Body. It is the ultimate body cream. Hydrating and moisturising without leaving you feeling one bit greasy…get dressed immediately. It is a skin perfecter, an even skin toner and it smells divine. i do not bare skin for summer until I have a sunkissed body but this year for some reason my skin looks sooooo healthy. And it doesn’t have a tanning agent. I cannot tell you enough just how amazing it is. Just one last gush…thought it would be one of these temporary wash off things, but it actually improves skin over time. Oh and…no glittering bits, just lusciously soft, healthy looking skin. Enough.
Promise just one last point – available at Coles/Woolworths at the moment on special, so I have filled the bathroom cabinet, $11 and some cents for a large tube.
Moo Goo Milk Shampoo and Cream Conditioner! the harsh, chemical-laden “treatment” shampoos had stopped worked on my psoriasis-filled scalp 🙁 Moo Goo has been my saviour – NO traces of psoriasis left on my scalp, meaning I can wear black with no fear of “snow” on my shoulders during an important meeting. The best things are they’re an Aussie company, their product range is huge (think everything from lip gloss to insect repellent) AND IT ALL WORKS! I now use their cleansing oil, lip balm and full cream body lotion too!
Forgot to add the photo!
2015 was a big year for me. I became a mother for the second time in May. This meant that I spent the first half of 2015 with puffy pregnancy eyes and the second half with puffy eyes due to the many sleepless nights that come with a new bundle of joy! I also managed to get a Mild case of facial psoriasis which caused there to be patches of irritated dry skin on sensitive parts of my face including my eyelid. So here I am toddler running circles around me, new baby boy with an inability to sleep at night and dreadful, dark, dry patchy eyes…it was not a ‘pretty’ sight! That’s when the French came to my rescue! Eau Thermale Avene Soothing eye contour cream (purchased in Priceline not Paris!) this product made my year! I no longer had giant dark buckets under my eyes and my facial psoriasis disappeared. If there’s a product to rave about it is this one! I think it should be given to every mother on Mother’s Day!!

Nikki, thank you so much for your kind words on Face Hero! (I back you hard on that NARS blush, too.) Also thank you to the lovely women below who are enjoying their Go-To. It warms my heart, especially since I didn’t even financially bribe any of you.
There was that one time you sent me Haigh’s chocolate freckles. That wasn’t playing fair 😉 Love your work and can’t wait to see what’s coming in 2016.
This is an easy question it would have to be the Olay Miracle Boost it’s the only new product that I have tried this year being a mum to three kids under 6 and starting to hit my mid 30’s my skin needed that much needed help to stop/slow down the ageing process.
Nutrimetics Nutririch Oil is my 2015 favourite! It’s is a one stop shop for many of my skin needs, which is super helpful given I have very little time to spend on a skincare routine thanks to a 2 year old and 4 month old!!
I fell hard and fast and have a long term love affair with the Garnier Miracle Cream. We have a mutual love for one another, he hides my pigment, under eye bags and uneven skin tone and I keep repurchasing and lovingly using this cream!!!
I discovered BioElixia skincare after a sales assistant in DJs recommended it – excellent moisturisers, cleansers and serums which have really worked for my dry skin. I also tried Fleur de Mer tinted sunblock (50+) – recommended by another commenter on your blog – and loved it.
I felt overwhelmed when trying to find a ‘serum’ type product and when I read Nikki’s post for the Olay Miracle Boost and Moisturiser I thought that she explained it so well and kept it simple, I totally thought “I must try this” – I have not looked back!! It is an amazing product and I have been advocating it to all my friends….
This year I finally decided to try Garnier’s BB Cream, and what a phenomenal product. It gives me good coverage every day and makes my skin glow.
The product I have fallen in love with this year is Go-To’s Lips. It is the most divine lip balm I’ve ever owned (and let me tell you I’ve tried them all) I love everything about it from the way it smells to the cute peach packaging it comes in. The parcel even joked with me saying I had a delivery from Channing Tatum 🙂
Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask – the absolute best mask to take with you on a flight – it is so hydrating yet still light on the skin. I use this once a week to give my skin some extra hydration and whenever I am going to be in the car/on an aeroplane for a long period of time. xx
I love Rimmel radiant BB cream (Light) it is so easy to use and the tube is compact so i now own a few! The cream goes on very well and is easy to blend and gives my skin a subtle glow. Easy, fast go-to option in the morning.
Go-to skincare. Love them all! The best thing is – I know they do work. Makes my life easy and stress free.
My standout for the year would definitely have to be the Garnier Micellar Water. Three letters….WOW…..so easy to use, great value for money as a little goes a long way and it’s something that my teenage daughter and I can both use.
I found Lavera Faces Firming Day Cream Karanja Oil & Organic White Tea earlier this year on Fresh Fragrances site. It is lovely.I look these days for more natural products and am very happy to use this brand as well as Weleda. I feel they live up to their claims. My skin feels well hydrated and a bit firm which is nice.
My beauty find for 2015 would have to be Rimmel Lasting Finish lipsticks by Kate Moss. I would rate these right up there as far as texture and pigmentation is concerned and the colours are lovely. In particular no. 16, a gorgeous pinky peach summer colour. Priced under $10, often on sale and hey, it’s Kate ….
Gosh, so many favourites this year….but for me, the stand out, the head and shoulders above everything is the little pink beauty blender! I only bought one in recent months and I the love the finish that it brings to everything – foundation, blush, bronzer etc. Creams and powders don’t settle in fine lines or creases. A little tool with a big impact! After having read your reviews Nikki, I am trying out the Olay Miracle Boost Youth Pre Essence and the Garnier Miracle Cream!
Sounds like I need the little pink beauty blender in my life! Thanks for sharing
Discovering micellar water has been a revelation . I will admit to laziness and I was just using baby wipes at the end of the day. I have discovered how ineffective that was since being introduced to micellar water through Styling You. My skin thanks you Nikki!
Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel! It has made my skin look even and was gentle enough even when I was recovering from perioral dermatitis. A real winner!!
I’m also living the swisse micellar makeup remover. So easy to use and leaves my skin feeling so fresh. I love that it contains no nasties too. Will have to give the face hero oil a try. I love finding natural skin products that work.
This year I discovered Kosmea Rose Hip Oil and use it morning and night on my face and eyes before applying moisturiser. For the first time in my (adult) life, not using an eye cream! Feel a bit sinful, but so far so good.
For some reason I started having eye irritations to certain eyeshadows etc so I switched to a brand recommended by my beauty therapist called Inka. Its organic no nasties and 100% Australian made & owned … haven’t had any reactions to any of their makeup. I use primer, foundation (mineral) and all eye makeup. I don’t think its sold in department stores etc but “Uncle Google” will give you ideas where you to purchase.
The Garnier Miracle Skin Cream – LOVE 1) you can buy it at the supermarket 2) it is very often reduced 3) price means I can buy it for all my friends so they too can LOVE it! I use it daily… no fuss and leaves my skin glowing!
For me my 2 favourite products that I have bought more than one of is micellar water ,it’s gentle and lovely on my sensitive skin and does a great job!
I also love the Maybelline NY Dream Wonder Foundation it’s lightweight, buildable and gives a very luxe finish, love it.
Great list Nikki I will be trying some of your recommendations Xx
Like you, I tried out the Swisse Micellar Makeup Remover as a more natural approach to the ‘quick and easy’ makeup removing routine! I was thrilled with the results and my skin felt so clean and fresh every time I used it!
Thanks for all the tips in your list!
The beauty product I have found and loved this year is the Nude Skincare Purifying Cleansing Wash. I bought this tube because I like the packaging for travel, but the results from using a gel you massage in dry, then rinse off has been marvellous.
I’ve just added Nair and the Mud CC cream to my shopping list! Just in time for summer too. I think we have all had one of those awful hair removal cream moments that make us shudder (think chemical burns on armpits) but I’m hoping age and wisdom will see better results this time!
My product find this year was micellar water. I love the way my skin feels clean before I cleanse in the shower now and I’m sure my serum and night cream are working better due to having a clean slate. I use the micellar water then Go-To Properly Clean and I’m not having as many breakouts although pregnancy is bringing that back!
Merry Christmas everyone and congrats to the lucky winner – what an awesome Christmas pressie!
Great cleansing routine there!
What an amazing list Nikki! For me in 2015, it has been the Kerastase Discipline shampoo and conditioner- they both contain keratin along with other smoothing trickery that de frizzes and de puffs my hair- even in February (!) Its a holy grail hair product.
Was on my 2014 list! Great products!!
I was about to repurchase my Chanel eyebrow pencil when I spotted Maybelline Brow Drama while in Coles. And it is fantastic !! It’s like a mascara for brows, so quick to apply and stays on all day….and the best bit was that it was half price – $6.47 !!
Great list Nikki, I’m definitely putting the Nair on the shopping list despite the ’80’s flashbacks! I picked up the Garnier Miricle Skin Cream a few months back, I was impressed with how it hides my redness and evened out tone being such a light cream.
Sodashi Enzyme face polish. I actually thought that I would need to see a beautician every time I want my skin to look and feel this radiant. Not so! This product is now a necessity in my skin care cabinet.
Thanks for all the beauty list Nikki. I have loved Nivea lip balm fruity shine…got to lurv some glossy lips.
Wunday Aromatherapy Moisturiser from Wunday Naturals….light, soothing, amazing essential oils based scents from a small, Australian producer. My daughter is loving it in her extrememly sensitive skin after swimming and sun exposure. It is available online…I picked mine up in Yamba NSW and I am going to get the rest of the range to try.
The garner miracle skin cream!! I use it every day as part of my make up routine and it is especially fantastic for a casual day out when you don’t want to (or let’s face it “can’t be bothered”) wearing make-up. I find applying it straight after my shower and letting it sit for 20-30 mins, it settles really nicely! It’s the perfect summer makeup product in my opinion. I have recommended it to so many people and it’s a go to for the mums out there (just like me).
The photo is just the skin cream and teeny bit of concealer on a sneaky pimple on my chin 😉
On your recommendation ( can you spot a theme here?) I tried the go-to cleanser and love it! The foam is so light & the scent is delicious. I love how it’s all natural ingredients & your face feels properly clean without the harshness.
Thank you so much for identifying which of these products are cruelty free – they will be the only ones I will try.
I always do with my monthly beauty faves as I know many look for it.
What an amazing list! My top finds for the year…MUD CC cream after you recommended it, I use it even at night instead of my expensive foundation. The Garnier Body Lotion you recommended, I’m on my second bottle and so is my daughter. And finally Organic Spa, a skincare range I buy from a local store, A Perfect Blend in Caloundra. It’s free from every nasty imaginable, and one of my workmates has starting using it because my skin is looking so much better, and quickly. Love these posts! Kathryn 🙂
On your recommendation I started the olay regenerist line….they are very good for the money. I love how I can have a complete routine without taking out a loan to pay for it! Very happy with the results.
Glad you are Julia – so am I! On to third round.
I discovered primer this year after reading about it on your blog. Wow it really works , stopping makeup from sliding off in Queensland heat. Both Mac primer and Napoleon Perdis autopilot primer work well.
Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade. It’s perfect for my patchy eyebrows, and although it’s not cheap, the little pot will last me a very long time. After I use it to fill in the gaps, I finish off my brows with Maybelline Brow Drama brow mascara, which is cheap as chips and SO effective!
Hi Nikki, I finally found a CC cream I loved – Stila is the brand. Helped with my red nose and was light and lovely to wear. Alas, is being discontinued! So am on the hunt for a new one to replace it. I have to say I hate it when products suddenly disappear. Maybe one of your recommendations will help me.
Do try the MUD CC cream – what have you to lose? $8! And yes, very frustrating when products are discontinued!
Morning Nikki, following your recommendation in August I purchased the Bobbi Brown Corrector and Concealer duo. They weren’t cheap but were worth every penny. I have had a constant battle with dark circles no matter how much sleep I have my whole life (thanks Mum !) and this is the first product I have tried (and there have been many) that actually works. Thanks for the recommendation.
Narrowly missed this list Lisa!
