The Model and Me: Motto

Nikki Parkinson Fashion, The Model and Me 43 Comments

We’re at the pointy end of 2015.

It’s parties and catch-ups a-go-go.

In between, there’s Christmas shopping to finish/start, festive menu planning and hunting and gathering to happen and a touch of wardrobe management thrown in for good measure.

I shared ideas last week about what to wear on Christmas Day and later this week I’ll be sharing some New Year’s Eve outfit ideas but today’s Model and Me feature kickstarts that idea.

You can never go wrong with an LBD in my fashion books and at this time of year, they very much come into their own when you may have to do a quick wardrobe change before heading out to a party or gathering.

The one I’m featuring is by Australian designed-and-made label Motto.

My love of the LBD is no secret.

It’s a go-to frock that always works for me. No matter what the style or fabric, it always looks dressed up.

Therein lies the power of this wardrobe work horse.

Today’s example is no exception.

It’s jersey so will always be ready to party, whether you’ve just pulled it off the line or out of your suitcase.

It’s shaped to do all sorts of wonders when you put it on your body, with a shaping in under the bust before it falls and drapes over your hips and tummy in a tulip-style skirt.

It’s just the right length for either dressing up with heels or down with flats and provides the blank canvas for a little – or a lot – Christmas bling.

Has the party season slowed down for you? Got plans for New Year’s Eve? Need this dress in your life?

  1. Thank you for featuring this dress Nikki I was desperately looking for a dress to wear to our Christmas party and couldn’t find anything I like. I tried this on and loved it! I am normally a 18 but ended up getting a 16 in this. It’s very flattering.

  2. Gorgeous – I think it looks better on you than on the model 🙂 I love your blog postings – hope you have a wonderful festive season.

  3. You look gorgeous!! I love a little white dress but I am partial to black and after seeing you in this number I am keen to look for a LBD x

  4. H Nikki. What a beautiful dress! Very tempted to go purchase but as a size 12 pear shape wondering if the tulip would make my hips/bottom look bigger?

  5. Perfect looking dress Nikki – so perfect in fact I had to add to cart. I was nearly swayed by the black & white option but stuck with the black one. Can’t wait to get it! Thanks for doing all the hard work and finding this for me! 🙂

  6. You look gorgeous in the dress and I understand the power of an LBD, but could you revisit your post a couple of years ago about navy blue? Black does not work for me now, unfortunately.
