Summer is *basically* here. Well… at least in Queensland it is 😉
This week the warmer weather was definitely felt, and boy was I glad to have been able to swap my boots and jeans for a pair of strappy sandals and my favourite maxi skirt.
For those of you still experiencing the chills – hold tight! Christmas is less than 11 weeks way… which means BEACH TIME!
So to get you prepared for the season ahead – today we’ll be discussing casual summer trends.
What to wear this summer

This season… it’s all about releasing your inner bohemian – so girls, be prepared to head back to the 70’s!
And if you’ve already done a bit of window shopping, you’re guaranteed to have seen everything from big hats to big prints.

Summer 2015 casual fashion trends
#1 A-line Skirts
Whether it’s rain, hail or shine, A-line skirts are the perfect piece for adding some flare to your wardrobe – and are also flattering for most shapes and sizes!
Particularly this season, it’s all about white and chambray.
Pair your A-line skirt back with either a crop top or bell-sleeve blouse, and you’ll be left standing tall this summer.

#2 Swing Dresses & Bell-Sleeves
Please say a big hello and welcome back to swing dresses and bell-sleeves. Perfect for the up-and-coming festival season!
Wear your bell-sleeve blouse with either an A-line style skirt or even tucked into a split leg or fitted maxi skirt (see below).
Or – rock the bell-sleeve dress with a pair of strappy sandals and some light accessories.
And if you’re heading to the beach, swap the sandals for a pair of thongs, and pop your favourite pair of swimwear underneath.

#3 Felt Hats
Another (recurring) trend about this season, that you may have already spotted in stores, are felt hats.
Whether they’re a short or wide brim, felt hats are the best way to release your inner boho girl this season.
Dress it down with your flats and swimwear throw-over, or if you’re sporting the boho look for the spring races – flaunt it there too!

#4 Lace-up Details
Ah. Lace-ups. Probably my favourite trend to date.
So elegant, yet so versatile.
You’ll find this 70’s inspired trend amongst tops, skirts, shoes, and everything in between.
And if you’re truly ready to release your inner bohemian, rock your lace-up top/dress this summer with gladiator style sandals.

#5 Boho Prints
And last, but certainly not least – are boho prints.
With denim and suede thrown into the mix – that 70’s style is going nowhere.
Sport your boho print on either a bell-sleeve blouse, a swing dress or even a maxi skirt.
And if it’s a blouse, why not pair back with a suede skirt?
The best part is these particularly light-weight fabrics are also ideal for the warmer season, not to mention they’re quick drying too. Perfect for beach wear!
