The Model and Me: Binny

Nikki Parkinson Fashion, The Model and Me 30 Comments

I’ve never met Binny – the designer behind the Australian label of the same name – but it feels like I have.

Catch up on the Binny archive here.

This Victorian-based label came to my attention thanks to the TV series Offspring (thank the TV gods that it’s coming back next year) when the costume designers dressed lead character Nina Proudman a number of times in Binny.

Catch up on my intel with the costume designers here.

The exposure that Offspring gave this then fledgling label was a game-changer and, I’m so glad that Binny has continued to produce fabulous collections each season since.

One of the label’s signature fabrics is the use of a graduated stripe, so I’ve chosen to feature this season’s stripe offering for today’s Model and Me.

The model

and me

Binny zipolite dress | Frankie4 Footwear MONiCA heels

Binny zipolite dress (I’m wearing size 16 and have a size 16 hip) | Frankie4 Footwear MONiCA heels (available in stores now – stockists here; and online very soon)

This is the kind of summer dress that I pop on and immediately feel dressed up. In a smart-casual kind of way.

But I love that it’s also a dress that I can throw on over a swimsuit and wear with flats.

The viscose fabric is soft and lovely to wear. The a-line shape flattering (note that it’s not as over-sized as shown on the model – it’s true to size and the 16 just skims my size 16 hips).

There are pocketsthe sleeves offer great, sun-safe arm coverage and the deep v-neck is flattering to a large bust.

Love the print but not a dress person? Check out the jacket, pant, maxi skirt and shirt.

I’m looking forward to seeing more of the Binny spring-summer 2015 collection “in the flesh” at the Petrol Boutique spring soiree this Thursday. I plan to wear this piece.

A word on the heels … I’m the ambassador for Frankie4 Footwear and its spring-summer 2015-16 collection has started to arrive in store (see here for your nearest stockist). The range will be online soon and I’ll also be sharing with you my favourites – these MONiCA heels are definitely in the line up!

Do you love stripe? Hanging out to see what Nina is wearing these days?

I’d love your vote!

I would so love your support and vote: Kidspot is hosting a competition where I have the chance to win $2500 for my charity – Dress for Success Brisbane – plus I would also receive a business grant, which I’d put towards my current project of creating a tool that will help make it easier for you to plan out what to wear each day. 1. Before I even opened this post I just knew this was a Binny dress which shows there is definitely a signature style. Love it!

  2. This is a gorgeous dress Nikki, definitely an investment piece. I am loving the sneak peaks at the new season Frankie 4’s. Can’t wait to see them online, as I have no stockists nearby. That may or may not be a good thing 😉

  3. Now that’s a great summer dress for you Nikki – the colours are perfect for your Aussie blonde locks 🙂 I’m sure you’ll get heaps of wear out of that. Have a great week!

  4. This dress looks great on you, Nikki. The colour, print and fit all make you glow.
Actually the fit on you is far more flattering than on the model, and is proof that a fit that skims rather than swamps is so much nicer on most of us.

  5. your skin! you look so beautiful, so young! Love that dress on you.
Tell me, do you think Offspring will as good without the old producer? I hear Debra Oswald is leaving. I hope it doesn’t jump the shark…
