The Model and Me: Bohemian Traders

Nikki Parkinson Fashion, The Model and Me 40 Comments

I love outfits that offer an element of surprise – garments that when worn offer a contrast of either textures, colours, patterns or styles.

Or all of the above.

Australian online store Bohemian Traders (I think I’ve been its number one fan since day one!) does that surprise factor so well.

I love how I can always release my inner boho queen with their collections, while at the same time keeping true to my dominant classic styling wardrobe personality.

This juxtaposition of styles in one online store means that I’m forever at a loss to pinpoint faves in each new range released.

Bohemian Traders’ new spring-summer 2015-16 On The Road collection is no different. I love so much of it.

I’ve already featured some pieces in the Spring Styling You Shop – and will be bringing you more in November with the Summer Styling You Shop – but today I’m sharing one of my favourites with you.

And … brace yourself … it involves sequins. Lots of them.

The model

Bohemian Traders tee, skirt and scarf

Bohemian Traders Classic White tee $59, Straight Sequin skirt $159 and scarf  (similar) $59.40

and me

Bohemian Traders tee, skirt and scarf | Zoe Kratzmann heels

Bohemian Traders tee* $59 (I’m wearing a different tee from the model – this is the grey tee in XL available from the Styling You Shop until Wednesday), skirt* $159 (I’m wearing XL) and scarf  (similar) $59.40 | Zoe Kratzmann heels (last summer – similar here) | Location: Sheraton Noosa Resort

Have you ever? So  much blush/champagne-coloured, sparkly gorgeousness in one piece.

Positively mermaid-like.

And yes, I very much think it’s ok for a grown woman to channel a little mermaid action.

What I love about combining something like this skirt with a tee is that the contrast of dressy and casual styles makes it an outfit you could wear out to dinner or lunch with the girls.

Want to make the skirt work for a spring event, wedding or occasion? Team it with a silk top or cami and add more bling via a statement necklace or shoulder-dusting earrings and an arm party of bracelets and bangles.

I’ve worn the skirt back with muted tones but it would work equally as well contrasted with black or navy.

There’s plenty of length in the skirt. I’m 166cm tall and am wearing the skirt up on my waist. I prefer wearing skirts like this on my hips so will get it altered and hemmed so I can do that.

The model would be more than 10cms taller than me and, worn on her hips, it falls past her ankles.

Tell me, do you share my love of a sparkle?

  1. Nikki I’m curious to know is the skirt stretch? I’m an apple shape and finding skirts that fit/ are comfortable in the waist can be kind of tricky… but I LOVE the colour and sparkle of this!

  2. I had seen this skirt on the BT website and thought it was gorgeous but didn’t think it would suit me. You have changed my mind Nikki!

  3. Love it. Somehow I feel like sequins in pale colours are fresher than dark colours (even though I am devoted to black in most clothes).

  4. I’m a magpie from way back and always love a bit of sparkle and while I love this on you, I’m not sure I could carry off so much champagne sparkle in one item.
