I love clothes … I love them a whole lot. The problem is that I don’t have a huge budget for them or a lot of space to keep them, so I like them to be trans-seasonal, versatile, comfortable, look great and not need special attention (like ironing). They have to be hard workers to earn a place in my wardrobe.

I recently met the gorgeous ladies behind Bamboo Body Clothing and their philosophy is look good, feel good and do good. Bamboo fabric is softer and more breathable than cotton, has natural moisture wicking, anti-bacterial, and anti-odour properties. Plus, as you know, bamboo grows quickly, without chemicals, sucks up a lot of carbon dioxide and releases more oxygen than trees. It’s a natural, sustainable resource.

Bamboo Body is a label that seems to completely understand what I need. Gorgeous, comfortable, versatile, affordable and did I say comfortable?

Today, I’m wearing a grey Long Bamboo Skirt $69.95 from their collection. Here it is on the model.

Wearing: White Essential Scoop tee $39.95 | Taupe Bamboo Everyday Cardigan $69.95 | A skinny tan belt (Mimco old stock) | tan Ramarim boots*

I usually avoid any pieces that are a little clingy around the stomach or hips but I was keen to give this skirt a whirl to see if it could work on me and because when I met the Bamboo Body Babes, one of them was rocking it.

To make it less clingy on my problem areas, I folded down the band and pulled it up to my waist. This had the triple affect of creating more suck-in support around the stomach, a slightly looser fit and made it a little shorter so I can wear it with my beloved ankle boots and still show off a little skin between to balance it out.

The Model and Me Bamboo outfit in different ways

Here I kept on the same skirt and scooped tee but changed into a French Connection denim vest (similar Jacket here) with blue Ramarim booties*. Denim always creates a fun, casual look.

And for the final outfit, switched the vest for a Charcoal  Everyday Cashmere Pilar Wrap Cardigan* $388.

Do you make your clothes work hard to earn a place in your wardrobe?

  1. What size are you wearing Rachel? I read they are more on the small size and you should go up a size or two … is that true? P.S. Love the look … looks stylish and so comfy.

  2. Thanks so much for the tips regarding how to style the skirt for, those of us who do not love the cling factor around the stomach, hips etc. Clever. I would not normally try on a skirt like this….but you allow us to see that it can be worn in a few completely varying looks! I’ve enjoyed your three posts Rachel, well done.
