Editor’s note: Please welcome today’s guest blogger: Rachel Wernicke from Redcliffe Style. While Nikki is away, Rachel is taking over the Model and Me posts to give us all a look at what some gorgeous fashion pieces look like on everyday women.

I’m in the process of moving house at the moment and the new place has a much smaller wardrobe. This means I have to do serious culling and considering every piece I keep. This is a love/hate job.

I hate saying good bye to items I have been dragging around for 10 years, hoping they will come back into fashion, or I’ll squeeze back into them. But I’m going to love the great, simple wardrobe I’m left with. Filled with pieces I love, that fit and, most importantly, I will wear. Just like today’s Model and Me piece.

Nikki introduced me to the Queensland-based label wYse lifestyle on Styling You. I love the simplicity of the designs and the gorgeous soft fabrics (made from beech wood chips). I love that they are low maintenance and you don’t need to iron them. Perfect!

8175 Adele Dress

Wearing the wYse Black Adele Dress $198*

I love the gentle boat neck and the ¾ sleeves but what I love most of all is that it doesn’t cling. The waist ties up, which flatters the curves and creates gentle draping to conceal any lumps and bumps.

The model is taller than me, so my dress sits longer. I prefer dresses on me that hit near my knees. I’m wearing a medium and I’m 169cm tall.

I work in a Law Firm and this dress is perfect for the office. I’m wearing my Adele dress with a Wool Camel Cape from Sabena* and Basque Milena1 Leopard boots currently on sale for $89!

Don’t be scared to dress a simple black dress down either. For the weekend I added a Bohemian Traders Plaid shirt and Frankie4 ELLiE* shoes.

If you’re feeling the chill, this dress is the perfect length for tights and long boots, finished off with a gorgeous scarf. I also look forward to dressing this up with some bling and strappy heels too.

What’s your favourite way to style a black dress in Winter?

  1. Such a beautiful dress! Love the boots and your jacket! Also love your hair style! I am trying to think up a place where I could wear those boots! I so want them but don’t have much of a need for fancy dressing!
