Editor’s note: Samantha (Sammy) is Miss SY’s best friend from school and a journalism student. Each month she shares some style and beauty tips that are relevant to teenage girls of all ages – please leave us a question if you have a teenage style/beauty question you’d like answered.

Now that winter is well and truly here, we all know that with the colder season comes change … so today we’re going to mix things up a little 😉

I am here to show you my cult beauty products I use for my everyday 5-minute makeup.

5-minute makeup products

While it’s no secret that I’m a HUGE cosmetics girl at heart, I am also a big skincare enthusiast.

And with good skincare, comes good routine. But we’ll leave that for next time (as a sneak peek, I use Natural Instinct).

When it comes to makeup, being a uni student and someone who is ALWAYS on-the-go, I don’t have the time to spend all morning on my face.

BUT, that doesn’t mean I don’t get the same results as those that do.

It’s all about the products and techniques you use. And by techniques, yes, I mean fingers.

1. Clinique High Impact Mascara (Brown) $38 | 2. Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup (02. Alabaster) $50 | 3. Clarins Instant Concealer $38 | 4. Clarins Daily Energizer Lovely Lip Balm $25 | 5. Savvy Eyebrow Pencil (Blonde) $4.99 | 6. Clinique Blushing Blush (Aglow) $49

1.  Use fingers to apply Clarins instant concealer, which smooths out the eye contour area and reduces the look of dark circles and any surrounding puffiness.

2. My all-time favourite base to use is Clinique’s stay-matte oil-free foundation. This particular range caters for the fairer toned girls (like me), without giving “the line”, and is also fairly easy to apply (again, using your fingers).

3. It’s now time for blush! Be sure to apply using an angled brush, and start from the middle of the cheek and stoke in an upwards diagonal direction.

4. Add a bit of colour to the brows.

5. Add a flick or two of mascara on the lashes.

6. Don’t forget the lippy! You’ll never me see me without my Clarins lip balm. This nourishing and repairing balm provides me with long-lasting moisture and enhances my natural colour – perfect for winter.

And voila!

I’d also like to share with you some of my current beauty favourites. Each of these products is also designed to help you get your face on quickly and easily.

1. Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Mascara $19.95 ($10 on sale at Priceline at time of publishing) | 2. Natio Pure Mineral Skin Perfecting BB Cream $14.95 | 3. Maybelline Face Studio Master Hi-Light Blush $9.99 | 4. Natio Pure Mineral Face Primer $17.95 | 5. MAC Mineralize Concealer $38 | 6. Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner $9.95

Sukin’s hydrating mist toner is a must-have for winter, when you’re feeling a little on the dry side. It can be used both under and over makeup, to give you that “fresh” look, and to re-hydrate the skin.

Big lashes are in, and always will be. So be sure to add Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Mascara on your wish list. Maybelline Face Studio Master Hi-Light blush is fantastic as the multiple colours are great to blend with.

Try Natio’s long-lasting pure mineral face primer, underneath Natio skin-perfecting BB cream. You won’t be disappointed.

Miss SY also says MAC’s Mineralize concealer is perfect to remove those under eye “bags”, which can become quite apparent during exam time 😉

Now it’s over to you. Do you have a quick and simple makeup routine that would work for teenagers? Or a fave product we should be embracing?
