I know this Model and Me business is all about Mondays here on Styling You but given that Monday felt like Sunday and today – Tuesday – feels like Monday then I hope you’re all ok with us just going with the flow?
I had THE best birthday weekend filled with family, relaxation and a good dose of spoiling. Thanks to everyone who left beautiful messages on Facebook and Instagram. Suffice to say, I felt the love.
The weather gods played along nicely too, offering up beautiful Queensland mild, winter days and evenings that were doona-worthy but not requiring a hot water bottle or a switch on of the heating.
They were the kind of days ideally suited to the outfit I’m featuring today.
Bella Lido is a Queensland-based label so it understands that we don’t need heavy layers but we do need pieces that can be layered.
For my southern style sisters, this is an outfit that would work beautifully for your spring.
The model
Bella Lido harem pants $115 | Jackie top | Abbie shirt $109
and me
Bella Lido harem pants* $115 (I’m wearing size L) | Abbie shirt* $109 (I’m wearing size L) | Free as a Bird scarf* $39 | Frankie4 Footwear sneakers $219.95
I have a thing for fabric and how it feels on the skin and I can tell you the moment I stepped into these pants, it was love.
They are made from a super soft rayon-lycra mix that looks as good as it feels. When it comes to a soft pant, this is the winning combo that will ensure that you feel amazing wearing them for any occasion.
They can be dressed up with heels and some sparkles or down (as I’ve done here) with sneakers and stripes.
Stripes are ALWAYS a good idea. So timeless and unequivocally stylish.
This particular striped shirt is one that appeals because of the fabric and collarless style but also because it looks just as good with the sleeves down or rolled.
It’s light enough to wear in warmer months and also fabulous for wearing now under a knit or a jacket.
There’s a fair to high chance that both of these pieces are coming with me to Europe. Stay tuned for a full packing post and please send some warm weather vibes to the UK. Current tops of below 20 degrees will not be conducive to my aims of packing light!
So tell me, do you have a fave pair of soft pants? Looking for light layering pieces?
* These pieces were gifted to me for editorial consideration. Full disclosure policy here.

This is a great outfit to wear overseas. I’d definitely wear something like this while running around with my girls. x

Thanks so very much!
dear nikki, not on post but, just want to ask if you are happy with your hard shell red case and is it the medium size? … also is it easy to maneuvre!
thankyou love m:)X
Very happy … it’s got flexibility in the hardness if that makes sense. I think it’s this one – 75cm – very easy to wheel around and so light – except when all my stuff is in!! http://www.samsoniteaustralia.com/bag-finder/75cm-spinner.html#.VXg4S1yqqko
glad you had a great birthday nikki! … you are getting younger I’m sure!
great outfit especially for traveling! … ab/fab on the plane!
love m:)X
I think, yes, great for the plane and thanks for making a girl feel good. It’s all about attitude, not age, I think x
Belated Happy Birthday and I love your hair!
SSG xxx
Thanks SSG – the lower humidity means it’s worth attempting this look. In summer it wouldn’t last the day!

You look gorgeous! Loving your hair! Glad you had a lovely Birthday 🙂
Thanks Jess – I did x
Hi Nikki, I have soft-ish Witchery black drapey pants put aside for Europe (much too cold to wear them here at the moment!) but yours look easier care…mine will have to be hung near a steamy shower I think! Such a good dress-up or dress-down piece, as you say. Glad to hear you had a great weekend xx
These won’t need that. They wash and wear. Will be good for flying and in UK – too warm in south of Italy though. Hope your packing planning is going well? I had good intentions to start last weekend but didn’t! OOPS.
Such a classic combo – such a great look Nikki. I can see why they are on the list for holiday packing.
Thanks Kelly … thinking plane flight as well as the cooler UK days. Won’t need in Italy!

Simply stunning Nikki I love everything about this outfit on you,the stripes with the spots….love and I swear you get younger each birthday and I know I’ve said it before but love your hair like this.
I’m very pleased you had a beautiful birthday weekend you deserve it Xx
Oh thanks Lisa – age is all about attitude I think! Well, I’ll keep telling myself that x
Look at your hair! Stunning. Anyway, back on topic. Love that outfit. It’s very me too – comfy, loungy, casual, just perfect for weekends. We’ve been having very mild weather. 24′ today … might feel the need to do a bit of online shopping … 🙂
Thanks Cheryl, with the lower humidity, I’ve been getting a wavy blow dry instead of my usual straight. Love it for the change.

Nikki are these suitable to wear to yoga?
They’d be comfortable enough but it depends on whether you like a more streamlined yoga pant or loose. I’m a streamlined kind of girl.
I think a pair of comfortable black pants are a must have. I have a couple from Sussan’s and they are fabulous. Love these ones they sound great and perfect for you Europe trip. Are they easy care – washing/ironing?
Yes, no ironing and easy care Karen – essential!
I might just be giggling…exact pants on the blog tomorrow! You look fabulous xx
I think I giggled when I saw you in them on Instagram – like minds!!
