The Model and Me: Kalokeri

If you’re a mum, did you get spoilt rotten yesterday?

I did.

Beautiful presents and a champagne breakfast out.

But you know what I did when I got home from said breakfast? No, I didn’t take to my bed for a nap like I thought I would.

I did my winter wardrobe edit.

{Here are my 13 tips for editing your wardrobe}

I KNOW. Not quite relaxing but definitely cleansing.

The motivation for the edit was the coldest morning in Brisbane this year and my planned work trip to Sydney this week where the temperatures are definitely on the lower side from what I’ve been used to.

Having things organised – and my autumn-winter wardrobe selections front and centre – makes it easier for me to see what I have available to wear and plan my outfits accordingly.

We’re not yet in the thick of winter but I am still looking to wear clothes with a hit of a winter element because it keeps my outfits fresh after a long summer.

Those elements come in the form of different textures, colours and a layer or two.

So today for this week’s Model and Me, I’m featuring a Kalokeri rayon tunic with a leather trim from online store, Sequins and Sand.

Here it is on the model … in a different print but same style.

The model

and me

The leather trim not only adds a seasonal element to this piece, it works to dress it up thanks to the contrast of textures.

Add a tassle or two and I’m feeling more than a little on point for the season ahead.

The fabric in this is so easy to wear and I’m a big fan of teaming a tunic like this with leggings for an autumn-winter alternative to jeans or long pants.

You can also add on a long cardi or coat to suit the temperature where you are.

Do you love a tunic/leggings combination for autumn-winter? Was it cool/cold for your Mother’s Day? Done wardrobe edit for the season?

  1. Stunning tunic on you Nikki, glad to hear you had a lovely mother’s day breaky. Nothing like a good wardrobe edit, on the cards for me this Friday. Long over due!

  3. Isn’t this a gorgeous outfit? Such simple elegance!

I did my winter wardrobe edit last week. I was so inspired by the StylingYou Shop garments. I realised I had everything except the dress and the leggings. I’ve bought the dress. As you do. 🙂 And then I rearranged my chest of drawers so that I have just a few pants, tops/tunics and light jumpers in one drawer. Heavier jackets, vests and cardigans are in the next drawer. Winter coats hang in the wardrobe. All the rest has been packed elsewhere. Out of easy reach. My aim is to do more with less. And feel nicely dressed. So far, so good. I had to go grab back a couple of summer tops because the weather suddenly went back to too warm for long sleeves but a cardi combats the chill of the early mornings. So thank you for the inspiration Nikki.

  4. I do love a tunic/legging combo, an essential in these parts where we have a very long Winter instead of summer. Love these colours and this style on you too Nikki. See you soon in Syds! x

  5. That is such a gorgeous tunic and it looks fab on you! I’m constantly editing my wardrobe because I need to be able to see everything I own so I will wear it. Having said that, I could probably do with another edit before the cold weather really kicks in, so I can identify the gaps in my wardrobe. PS: so glad I’ve got luggage allowance for Sydney…! x

    1. I’d love it if you did a post on what you pack for you europe trip as I always get it wrong and end up not wearing half of what I’ve packed and having to buy a couple of pieces! Keeping below 20kg (including toiletries), trying to cover all weather possibilities and still looking stylish is so stressful

      1. Jools, Nikki did a post a couple of months ago on packing for Europe with lots of great posts from others too. Check it out on her site.

  7. Thanks
Nikki for another great post, showing us the way. It looks great on you. Popular! We’ve just
run out of the grey version and unfortunately can’t get any more as
Kalokeri have all sold out too. Sorry. We have it in the Blush option though. Same
style, different colour. Hope that helps SY girls. Happy winter! (never thought I’d say that as a summer lovin’ girl 🙂 ) Ax

  8. That tunic is gorgeous on you Nikki and yes I’m definitely a fan of tunics and leggings I bought 2 tunics last week one is black merino wool with pockets and the other a viscose patterned one!
It was a sunny but, very windy day here yesterday, yes I got spoilt but it was a very hard day especially at the cemetary and I’ve never seen so much traffic in my life and that made me sad too.
I do hope you got spoilt Nikki and had a lovely day,I’d pack some winter things as the temps are going to plummet from Wednesday on.
Love model and me Monday’s ,have a great day Nikki Xx

  9. Wow! That tunic definitely looks better on both you and the model, than on the hanger on the website, where it looks a bit shapeless.
I love a tunic and leggings in the in-between months, but unfortunately can’t quite get away with that at work.

  10. an easy outfit that looks smart nikki!
    I sound old world!;)
I love the colour ofcourse and how handy for travelling to Europe!
you could have 3/4 pants with this and sandals!
    sorted! love m:)X

  11. Love this look on the model, and on you! I’m a big fan of a tunic and leggings combo. We ran 8km around Sydney in the Mother’s Day Classic and spent the rest of the day recovering! Pleased you got spoilt as you so justly deserve! x

  12. Tunic, nice thick leggings and flats or boots – my fave winter look. Then I just add a finer or woolier cardi and a scarf depending on how cold it is. Luckily I work in a pretty casual office so it’s fine for work too! Had a lovely Mother’s Day – champagne lunch at home, Dirty Dancing on the TV and beautiful cards and pressies from the kids, who are all nearly adults these days. Glad you had a good day too, we are the lucky mums.

  13. This is a lovely outfit, and looks very comfortable. I really like the leather trim too. I didn’t have a nap yesterday either, I went to the markets early to get flowers for my daughter, then was waylaid and had my palm read. Don’t you just love champagne breakfasts! I was spoiled on Friday night, my girl took me to The Spice Bar for dinner! And I wore my new shrug! Loving the cool mornings up here, Kathryn 🙂

  14. Love the model and you. i this outfit. Hooray for real models!
That is a very on point Melbs winter look, come down!
Movies and chocolates and fllowers for me this Mother’s Day followed by a home cooked dinner, perfection!

  15. Love it, you look fab. Haven’t heard of this company before so looked around their website and there are loads of things I love. You guys are soooo spoiled for choice in Australia! Have a great day. Amanda x
