I’m a big believer in making the most of your existing wardrobe.
You know the drill … don’t go shopping unless you’ve first done a proper edit and cull of what you already have tucked away in cupboards, drawers and robes.
Now, you might think it’s counter-productive of me to be reminding you of this on the day I launch my own shop on Styling You but I seriously do want you to think about what you already own before buying – even from me.
I want you to be super clear about what you already own and love so that you are super clear on where the gaps are and can shop consciously, knowing that you will be filling those gaps with clothes that will enhance your wardrobe and make you feel fabulous.
EVERY DAY.
It’s the least every woman should feel, don’t you think?
The way I see it, devoting just a little time each morning to thinking about what we’re going to wear on any particular day, is all about prioritising ourselves
And it’s so damn easier to carry out this prioritising without stress if everything on offer in your wardrobe works for you, works for your personality, works for your lifestyle and works for your shape and size.
This desire to take the stress out of putting an outfit together is the premise behind the Styling You Shop.
Each season, starting today with autumn winter 2015, I’ll bring you a capsule wardrobe of 10-13 garments and accessories.
I’ll show you how to mix and match those garments and accessories to create more than a dozen outfit combinations for your everyday style.
I’m working with some of my favourite designers and stores – many you would have already heard me talk about – and I’ve hand-picked pieces that are versatile.
The key to versatility in a garment is its ability to be be dressed-up or dressed down depending on the occasion or your mood. This is when you get real value from the clothes you buy.
It’s something I encourage you to think about when buying any garment or accessory.
If you haven’t already scrolled down to see what’s on offer in the Autumn Winter 2015 Styling You Shop, then let’s get stuck in with the reveal, shall we?

If the shop is taking a long time to load, it just might be that a lot of people are trying to access it at the same time. I hope you can be patient. I really don’t know how this will go as it’s all new to me.

Thank-you
This project is something I’ve been working on for most of the year to date.
I have Emily from Bohemian Traders to thank for planting the seed of the idea and helping me get started.
Thanks also to my fabulous web design guru, Kelly Exeter at Swish Design. Kelly goes above and beyond and is an absolute pro to work with.
Thanks to photographer Sarah Keayes for her fantastic work on capturing the outfits. Thanks to makeup artist Megan Braunberger and hair stylist Meghan from The Blow Dry Room for making me look a more polished version of my everyday self.
Thanks so much to the stores and labels who have got on board for this very first Styling You Shop. It means the world to be able to showcase your fabulous designs this way.
And last – but by no means least, thank-YOU.
Thank-you to each and every Styling You reader. You get me excited about showing up here every day. Thanks for being a part of this wonderful community.

I just went into the shop to make a purchase but it’s closed and needed a password. What does this mean?
Yaaaaah my Bohemian Traders dress arrived today and I love love love it, so comfy!

Love this, I love buying from “real” people who have actually worn the product and look real, no airbrushing. Woot! I just wish I could spend…… xx
Thanks so much Zoe!
Great capsule wardrobe and love all the style ideas.
Thanks so much Bec x
In the interest of (trying to) saving, I thought I would see if I could shop my own wardrobe based on your BRILLIANT capsule wardrobe…. I 90 % succeeded but could resist a cheeky few purchases from your shop……Since I started following you, my inner style geek (who was hidden away) has roared to life… Thanks for empowering those of us who aren’t the “perfect 10”, aren’t young any more but aren’t old either.
I’m so impressed that you went into your wardrobe first Andrea! And I love that I’ve been able to help you find your inner style geek! x
It all looks great,Nikki, and I particularly love the boots. I am a size 8 in the Ellies, yet usually a 38 in boots (which according to sizing guide for Frankies is a 7.5), so would you recommend going with the 8? I also have narrow ankles/ heels, so feel nervous ordering online- are they a snug fit in the heel? I love the way you style them, and may just bite the bullet! If they are still there by now….!!
Hi Fiona, I would go size 8. I’m a size 9 and wear a 9 – true to size. Also the custom footbeds that come with enable you to work on the fit (and slip) of each foot. My left is bigger than my right so I wear the full insert in the right; half in the left. The full inserts for you should help with a narrow heel. Hope that helps!
Thanks- will order this weekend!
This is a gorgeous collection Nikki and a really thoughtful and beautiful extension of your blog and your work. It looks like it’s going well – I went to buy something and it’s sold out in my size! In the middle of this very warm QLD autumn, my shopping focus is on finding very warm clothes for our holiday high into the arctic circle in Norway for Christmas. ❄️
Hi Kathryn, I may be able to source it for you – please email [email protected] and I’ll see what I can do. And BTW what an amazing Christmas that will be! x
Congratulations Nikki. The next logical and wonderful step for Styling You. terrific picks for AW15. Your styling and sizing tips make it that much easier to choose and buy. Merci beaucoup! x
Thanks so much Samantha x
Congrats on the shop Nikki! Think it’s great & just placed an order. Love everything! Didn’t know there was a shipping deal till I came here to comment though. My only suggestion is to add a wish list option & maybe a way to back order – wanted the Camyz as well but my size had gone. I wish you every success with this – you certainly deserve it. xoE
Thanks – love the suggestion – and please email me: [email protected] and I’ll refund you the $15 and also organise a Camyz for you x
Oh love it! Fantastic idea! Gorgeous , practical pieces!
Thanks Jess – that was the aim!
Looks great! Just made a purchase – too bad I didn’t realise there was a shipping deal until I clicked over to here to see what was happening in the comments….
Send me an email and I’ll refund you the $15 x
Congratulations Nikki! I wish you every success! This is a GREAT idea! Less is more! And you look fabulous in all of the pics. Thanks for all these great ideas – I do love a capsule wardrobe and you’ve inspired me to look at what I already have and how to wear it differently so….thankyou. Julie xx
That is awesome Julie – and makes me smile! x
Oh my god, I want all of these . Thank you
Thanks Sharyn! x
Congratulations! Fabulous idea and great combinations. If I ever left the house I’d be snapping them up!
Thanks Deborah! x
Congratulations Nikki. Great concept – I’m sure it will be a huge success. Well done you! x
Thanks so much Persephone!
I love the shrug! And the striped skirt – even though I most probably wouldn’t wear it. You look fantastic, I hope the chick who called condescending reads this post – no pressure to buy, just like your book. You look beautiful in every photo too, great post. Kathryn 🙂
Yes the chick is reading. The chick is also entitled to have an opinion.
Hi Jo, good I am glad you are, and I agree you are entitled to have an opinion. I am too, and I think you judged Nikki harshly. Best wishes, Kathryn
Thanks so much Kathryn – never any pressure to buy from me – just to use your wardrobe more efficiently!
These are all fabulous – they look great on you Nikki. I also think it’s a great idea – all these items would be able to be worn to so many events/on multiple occasions/ by all ages/ flattering to many body types and complexions. Bravo!
That’s the idea, Kerri, glad you like!
How exciting Nikki – I work from home and don’t get out as much as I did in the past so LOVE seeing your posts and I’m now embracing online shopping with some of the wonderful clothing you have showcased. I have just placed my order – can’t wait to receive it. Being in my 40s I find it hard to find anything in the big shopping malls (and it can be very depressing) but you have sourced such beautiful clothing that suits me perfectly (late 40s age group). Thank you thank you.
Oh Anne-Maree, I’m so glad this is a help to you! Thanks for buying and hope you like future shop edits!
Fabulous Nikki and a really great edit…I continuously cull my wardrobe because I do think it makes life less stressful if you have clothes that you love wearing and you know look good on you, rather than a cupboard full of ‘just in case’ or ‘one day’…you have shown that less can absolutely be more. Congratulations, I look forward to shopping your style…xPS where is your necklace from, you always wear brilliant jewellery…

I really like what you have done with this capsule approach. Having lived in the tropics ( SE Asia) for 7 years, I have no Autumn winter clothes much at all. Placed an order and it all worked really well. One suggestion- maybe give customers a place to review items so others can see how they work across a range of shapes and sizes… Anyway, love your blog and hope to meet you in Melbourne some time.
I’m definitely taking that suggestion on board Sue and will hopefully have in place for the next shop edit in Spring! Thanks so much.

Buried in my home office ploughing through paperwork, your daily posts are a welcome distraction, often nudging me to whack on a bit of lip gloss and don a bangle, even if it’s only for me. Today’s masterpiece is a particular treat. Outfit #12 is my fave. Well done and good luck.
“Only for Me” is always a good idea Angela … thanks so much for reading and glad you like!
In love with some of these pieces Nikki! I wasn’t planning to shop until the end of the month but from the look of things, there’ll be nothing left by the time I get to it 🙁
if there is something you’ve missed out on, please email me: [email protected] and I’ll see if I can source for you.
Fab capsule! Congrats 🙂
Thanks Beth x
Great capsule wardrobe. Just the inspiration I needed. Can you please tell me where your wedges in outfit #1 are from? Thanks.

Nailed it Nikki, that’s why so many of us love you, your book, your blog, your approachability and generosity and down to earth yet sparkly champagne style. So glad i have found this blog and fellow readers.
Best wishes and than you for making such a significant difference to women’s wellbeing and style
Oh Cheekie, thanks so much. Your words mean SO MUCH!

This is excellent. Decided I had a gap for the striped skirt and, Murphy’s Law, it was out of stock in XL. The skirt looks excellent on you.
Would you like me to see if I can get one for you? Email me: [email protected]
That would be excellent. Many thanks.
First of all… CONGRATS! I can’t even begin to image the work it would have taken to put this together. You’ve created the perfect A/W capsule wardrobe for women everywhere. I hope everything sells out in the blink of an eye! I hope you’ll be popping a bottle of bubbles tonight. You’ve more than earned it! x
It’s taken a lot but when I’m excited about something, it drives me Sonia. And yes there were bubbles last night x
what a great capsule wardrobe…I am feeling inspired! Unfortunately can’t buy anything as no postage to NZ (yet?!).
I’ll work on it Jan – apparently one of the most trying postal services is between Aus and NZ?!! I never say never though. x
Congratulations Nikki! Just beginning my journey and your book/blog/website are amazing. Great ideas and wonderful offers – thank you!!!
Oh thanks for reading … enjoy! x
Great idea Nikki……I think others agree too as the pieces I chose were gone by 9.30! I did however get some wardrobe inspiration as I have similar pieces already.Thanx.
If there is something you want but can’t get, please email me: [email protected] and I’ll see if I can get for you x
Hi Nikki
I get excited by your emails every day but today even more so. This is great and im sure this concept will be a huge success , fashion so sensible and practical, you put everything together so classy and real.
Thank You
Dora
Oh Dora, thanks so very much. That was the intention with what I’ve created here. x
This is such a great idea and I LOVE your edit. Love all the outfits you’ve put together to showcase how they’ll all work hard in your wardrobe. Just love the whole darn thing. Well done!
Thanks so much Mel! x

Well done Nikki! Doing more with less is a great mantra to live by. A tight colour palette, the secret ingredient. Beautiful, timeless pieces. Ax
I soooo agree about the tight colour palette. So true!
Me three!
I’ve come to realise
it makes life easier and you always look smart and can add with a bit of sparkle or spunk
I do it for my work wardrobe, no question. I can’t be getting dressed and mixing my navy with my black… So all black it is. Haha.
I don’t mind a bit of navy and black together 😉 And I’m a big fan of a tight colour palette!!
On purpose, no problem, by accident because I’m not awake yet… Whoops. Haha.
And so good for travelling too – that’s been a big lesson for me!
It’s becoming more and more my mantra Anita! x
I have been on the hunt for a fur vest- this one looks gorgeous! What a fabulous concept too Nikki, and I am excited for you!
Thanks Lauren!
Thanks Lauren!
Wow Nikki you have put so much work into this shop ,all these outfits are gorgeous and I love that you’re a big fan of checking your wardrobe for gaps before even thinking about buying a new piece, well done on creating this capsule wardrobeI am in love with that cashmere poncho and I’ve had my eye on the bohemian traders striped dress.I bought a pair of Frankie4 boots when they were on sale last week.
Congratulations Nikki and the photos of you are stunning Xx
Thanks so much Lisa – your support means a lot!
Looks great Nikki. And I’m pleased to say for many of the items I can say I have a similar item that would work in as substitutes for your picks.
Oh that is great Johanne – and the shrug has been very popular. I love mine and will continue to wear lots!
This is so exciting and such a brilliant idea! Congratulations! (And you look sensational in every outfit!) Bravo!
Thanks so much Sammie!
Love this Nikki! I love this whole collection & am madly selling off my current unworn wardrobe to invest in things I truly love – something I have learnt to do since “meeting” you.
Well done on this wonderful concept. ♥
Oh I love that you’re only investing in things you really love – that is the key to feeling good in what you wear – EVERY day!

Love these looks! Nikki! I am after the perfect pair of black pants….but am 178cm tall and buy a 34 inch leg in jeans to get the length needed. Are the Sacha Drake pants long length?
I’ve rolled mine up in most of the photos. The model on the Sacha Drake website is 176cm and they are the right length for a long pant. Hope that helps!
