My love of the go-to dress is no secret around these parts.
Frocks that go the distance, can be dressed up or down … they are the wardrobe pieces that I can always rely on.
Sunshine Coast-based designer Leonie Macleod has long been creating designs that I can rely on for that very task.
Leonie’s label Verily is all about “slow-fashion: original design, paper pattern making and grading, garment fitting, fabric testing and lots of love!”.
She understands how to shape a frock for women of all sizes and she understands that we all love a frock that works for us – not against us.
The frock I’ve featured today is one that very much works. Here it is on the model (a gorgeous woman I’ve known since my teens were babies!).
I love so much about this dress.
The drape is supremely flattering – creating shape and camouflaging all at the same time. The viscose is beautifully lightweight but not so much that it doesn’t wash well.
It’s incredibly comfortable to wear too – a piece that works for wearing for a casual occasion as well as dressing up as I’ve done here with a necklace, over-sized clutch and heels.
While this dress style works well now in autumn, it is also suitable for layering when the weather cools down. Add a jacket, tights and boots. Add a coat. It’s the perfect layering base.
It’s also available in black but my money is on the cobalt blue as a great way to add a splash of colour and work back with winter neutrals.
Would I find a Verily piece in your wardrobe? Love a splash of cobalt blue?
