It’s been about 12 months since I quizzed you for your hair and beauty recommendations.
See, Styling You has readers all around Australia. I can’t possibly keep across all the places that serve you well so I want as many of you to share those places here.
So everyone can benefit from your go-to list.
Maybe you’re a low maintenance kind of girl. That’s ok. I probably employ enough salon maintenance for the both of us.
I’ve said it often enough, it takes a lot of beauty maintenance to keep up any kind of effortlessly groomed look.
I try and spread them out across the month. This doesn’t always happen and on a recent Friday I found myself scheduling in three essential maintenance appointments in one day so I could be prepared for an event in Sydney.
Here’s my current personal hair and beauty recommendations’ list:
Hair cut and colour: Cheveux Design and Espresso, Auchenflower
Hair blow dry: The Blow Dry Room, Paddington
Manicure/Pedicures: King’s Beauty, Bardon
Spray tans: King’s Beauty, Bardon
Facials: Rationale Clinic, Fortitude Valley
Brows: Get Threaded, QueensPlaza, Brisbane City
Event or photographic makeup: Megan Braunberger Makeup
Cosmeceuticals: Coastal Plastic Surgery, Kawana, Sunshine Coast
The comments section will make this post. I’d love to hear from you. Tell us what part of Australia or the world you live in and give a plug to any of the beauty maintenance salons that help keep you feeling good from one appointment to the other.
Over to you … please share in the comments below.

For northern beaches region in Sydney – Caroline at Cure Hairdressing in Frenchs Forest http://www.curehairdressing.com/ is the best colourist I have ever had. Marc is great too there for cuts.
Any in Adelaide? Am rather desperate for a good hairdresser to make me less “mumsy”!!!
La Tease Hair & Beauty in Blakeview they are amazing! Will never go anywhere else again!
I’ve recently discovered The Diamond Room here in Wynnum
http://m.thediamondroom.com.au
I’ve tried almost every hairdresser in the area over the past 8 years and I’ve finally found ‘the one’
Katie is the owner and is incredibly dedicated to getting the best colour and cut that YOU want. Locals, go here and support an amazing local business and equally amazing hairdresser 🙂
For Sydney ladies especially in the Sutherland Shire – I have found a GEM!!
Boab Hair Art – Crystal -she is an amazing cutter! I am back to my all grey as it is too hard to keep up the maintenance on regrowth so I foil underneath to give depth and she has accomplished for me a great look. Now at 62 I am very happy. Try her out for a great precision cut!
A bit off topic, and sorry if it’s been asked somewhere else, but, Nikki, how do you maintain your fresh light blonde colour between visits? I had mine done a colour very close to yours about four weeks ago and it’s yellowing already. I use purple shampoo and conditioner, but maybe there’s a better one.
Thanks so much,
Al
I’ve been told if the colour is a good one it should hold – that seems to be the case with the case with my current one!
Thank you – will hunt around for the best near me. Ta, Al.
Brisbane-
Blow Dry – Blow in Bar Hamilton Harbour http://blowinn.com.au the longest lasting round brush curls.
Brows – Amy Jean Eye Couture on James St above Sass & Bide Completely redefine your face shape with perfectly structured brows http://www.amyjean.com.au
I’m still on the lookout for the rest…thanks for your recommendations xx
Late instalment into your beauty files…
Great reading all the other ladies recommendations…
Bach Hair Chelmer & Paddington – Terrific , professional team
Endota Day Spa Rosalie for facial pampering
Thai foot spa Fortitude Valley for a relaxation and great nails!
No More Knots Training & Greenslops or quality remedial massage
Home! I can do fine spa in my own bathroom – lotions, potions, scrubs, bubbles, candles : ). Gotta keep up the maintenance at home. Looking after yourself inside & out. Nikki you are testament to that. x
Brazilian beauty in Fremantle, WA for waxing – quick, fast and not painful!
I now live in Karratha in northern WA and recommend getting on the Facebook groups in country towns to find people’s recommendations. Have found a great at-home hairdresser and beautician!
Hi in Hobart Society Hair is the go with Jo and Liz they are fantabulous!
Also Sara Muir in Moonah does the worlds best facials.
For those with curly hair in Perth, Lee at SuMo Hair in Padbury is a genius! (He’s great with non curly hair too). Also good for colour.
For facials, waxing, IPL, manicures, pedicures, etc – Nelly at SkinSense Beauty in Warwick is wonderful – & she does THE best massage!
xoxo
I digress but gosh I find it hard to keep up the hair removal/tanning/mani/pedi over the spring/summer or if I travel more than two weeks solid in warm weather. Any hints on managing the in-between times?Could that be another post please?
As for rec in south east Melbourne
Masci for hair
Sugarblonde for nails
Waxed for doh! waxing (seriously nice, discreet and hygienic)
Make up, see Yolanda at YSL at David Jones, Bourke St Mall or any of the gorgeous Mecca girls in Chadstone or Armadale salons
I dont do facials but love a massage or a PT session and feel that they take years off my face, but no divulging my masseuse or trainer as they are so in demand already!
It is difficult to keep on top of Cheekie, I do admit. And I don’t have waxing to throw in there as I had laser and IPL a few years ago! That’s actually a top tip. If I’m away, I may book a mani/pedi where I’m going … the spray tanning takes some tricky time management, especially if travelling.

For those in Melbourne:

All fantastic, experienced professionals who give a great result without fail! 🙂

You’re welcome! Love your work.
Mt Isa: The Cut Above – Lauren or Tamara, do a mean bob!!! (07) 4743 2493
Brisbane dwellers read on. I am reluctant to share the secret behind my crowning glory, but here goes…Terry Mallon (Rouge Hair, Melbourne St South Brisbane) cuts and colours my hair beautifully. I have been stopped by strangers in the street commenting on how lovely my hair is (it’s not – Terry is a genius). After 18 years making my limp and lifeless hair ‘do’ something, the perennially stylish Terry still finds ways to make it fresh. She is the only thing standing between me and middle age. Get an appointment if you can – just don’t steal mine.

How time flies Nikki it doesn’t seem like 12 months since your last list, anyhoo here is mine.Hair,Inspire Hair Salon at Claremont Meadows Sydney NSW.
Nails. Spring Nails at Erskine Park 2759,the only place I’ll go for a pedi as they are careful of my leg and that’s very important.Brows I don’t really have any so don’t need much maintence on them ,I tint at home and pluck out a hair every six months or so.
Facials etc Cosmetic Laser and beauty St Clair, they use Dermalogica products and organic products, and for massages or pamper sessions Ella Rouge at Penrith.
I’d like to find a blow dry bar close by so I will have a look at all the stylers recommendations, great idea Nikki Xx
If you are a Sydneysider I recommend Canvas Beauty at Rozelle in Sydney’s inner west. Everything they do is great but particularly their facials as there isn’t a “one fits all” treatment. They look at your skin and determine which one is best for you. Give them a try – you won’t regret it.
I love the care and attention at Deborah’s Nails and Beauty in the Myer Centre. Deborah has been looking after me since the mid 90s. And I’ll never forget that she still opened the shop every day when she lost her house in the 2011 Brisbane floods. What a woman!
In Melbourne, the Cutters Lounge Hair Suite for great colour and cuts and SkinFocus Beauty Salon (Dermalogica) both in Auburn Road Hawthorn.
Laura Hudson Hair Design at Holland Park West (Brisbane). Best damn cut/colour I’ve had in ages!
What are cosmecuticals Nikki?
Good question V – anything non-surgical but a step up from regular beauty salon – chemical peels, laser, IPL, cosmetic injections.
Well, your maintenance team do a top notch job because you looked stunning when I saw you in Sydney. I was particularly in awe of your hair which was coiffure perfection. If your salon could make my hair look that good, it would be almost worth moving interstate for!
Thanks Sammy, if I’m having a good hair day then the rest is easy!!
