I’m getting better at this whole body moisturising thing.

It’s only taken me half a lifetime, a little bit of ageing, drying skin and a big change of attitude but I’m getting there.

A big part of making moisturising part of my day has been thanks to NIVEA In-Shower Body In Lotion (which I’ve written about here) … because, well, I love my beauty products but I do like to achieve results without fuss or effort.

But what if your skin needs a little more?

What if your skin is very dry and needs TLC and attention? What if you’re looking for an easy solution on how to treat very dry skin?

NIVEA understands that and has developed a pharmacy-only moisturiser – NIVEA Repair & Care Body Lotion (400ml RRP $7.99).

NIVEA Repair & Care Body Lotion

What makes NIVEA Repair & Care Body Lotion different?

NIVEA Repair & Care Body Lotion improves the skin’s protective barrier, lifts moisture content and relieves tightness through a special combination of active ingredients. Skin is moisturised for up to 48 hours.

Dexpanthenol (panthenol): this active ingredient stimulates the production of new cells and the boosts existing ones. It delivers moisture while also calming the skin with an anti-inflammatory action. This makes even the driest of skin relax, retain moisture and look healthy.

Hydra IQ: This is an active ingredient that NIVEA incorporates in many of its products. It works to deeper levels of the epidermis – stimulating the production of tiny water channels that help a more effective supply of water to the skin. This helps to improve hydration levels.

It also has a fabulous fragrance – subtle and not over-powering – of bergamot, mandarin, warm sandalwood, soft musk and vanilla.

The pump pack is bathroom-convenient for easy application after your shower.

7 ways I’ve been using NIVEA Repair & Care Body Lotion

  1. As an everyday leg and arm moisturiser. These are the parts of me that get more exposure; the skin that is drier than others. Repair & Care has made a real difference.
  2. To make a salon spray tan last longer. The enemy of the spray tan is dry skin. Dry skin means dead skin cells and dead skin cells flake off and take away your salon tan before it needs to slip away. Effective moisturisation will extend your salon investment.
  3. To avoid salon spray tan mishaps. Apply Repair & Care to typically dry areas of skin – elbows, knees, ankles – as well as the tops of your feet and palms of your hand to avoid an unnatural looking result.
  4. To create my own gradual tan. I’m not very good (ie, not patient enough) with home fake tan application. Instead my preference at home is for a gradual tanning product. Yes you can buy these as is but why not mix your own? Add a little fake tan to Repair & Care and you have an instant gradual tan that ticks all the hydration boxes and gives you a bonus glow.
  5. As an overnight treatment for dry feet. In spring and summer the skin on our feet and around our toes dries out really easily. Apply Repair & Care to your feet one night a week before bed. For best results wear cotton socks in bed for the night after application.
  6. As a hand, nail and cuticle cream. This is something that also works by applying at night. The tops of my hands, cuticles and nail beds dry out very easily thanks to constant washing throughout the day. This is a great every-evening counter-balance to that.
  7. To relieve sunburnt skin. I’m super vigilant about apply sunscreen but sometimes human error happens and I burn. This is a fantastic after-sun treatment thanks to its anti-inflammatory and hydration properties.

  1. I absolutely love the Nivea shower lotion and lotion products and am so glad other people feel the same way! Your blog is so helpful and insightful, and I enjoy reading your topics! I would love if you would take a moment to check out my new blog at Have a wonderful day!

  2. Please to see the pump pack for this. Had to change my shower bottle to a pump as my hands couldn’t hold it. And the gradual tan tip – thankyou. That’s another for me to try.

  3. I am LOVING the NIVEA In-Shower Body In Lotion – I’ve nearly finished the Cocoa Butter version & I picked up the Honey one the other day. I am sure I am going to smell divine in that one too – so quick & easy in the shower in the mornings. Great tip Nikki!

  4. I’ve been using Nivea rich nourishing body lotion during a course of Oratane for acne (dries out your skin incredibly as part of the treatment) and it’s been great.

    1. How long have you been on the Oratane Angie? I started yesterday due to relentless inflammatory roseacea and I am dreading the many side effects.

      1. I’ve just completed 4 months- the recommended first dose. First month was tough, but you eventually get used to the dry lips and dry skin. Moisturise religiously and always have a chap stick handy- I tried so many but my favourite ended up the Nivea hydro care (I sound like I work for Nivea, though I don’t! haha). I got some joint pain and headaches which weren’t fun, but worth it in the long run! Good luck Nell

  5. Yes indeed Nikki and what a very good price it is,I have been a fan of Nivea for a long time! This body cream looks great thank you for sharing Xx

  6. How my forehead can be so oily at the same time as my arms and legs are so dry is an absolute mystery to me. I do need something with a bit more oomph for my limbs, so I’ll be on the look out to add this to my in-shower moisturising.

  7. thankyou nikki! as you know I love natural products!
but I use urederm by Hamilton skinactive … aids in the management of chronic dry skin, restoring moisture and suppleness … my doctor recommended it, as I have keratosis on my legs … but I use it on my face too makes my skin smooth and hydrated and if mr m has a shaving rash he swears by it too … no mean feat!
I could try the nivea but reluctant to change as other is working for me! love m:)X

  8. Great ideas- I have horribly dry skin that sometimes only responds to hydrocortisone cream so I struggle to find something that works. I will be on the hunt for this!
