Everyday style outfits of the week

I have a confession to make.

I was in my yoga gear until 2pm yesterday before finally getting dressed for the day.

I toyed with the idea of sharing said yoga gear as my #everydaystyle but that kind of defeats the purpose of what this exercise is all about.

It’s supposed to motivate me to mix up what I wear every day. It’s supposed to make me wear more of what’s in my wardrobe. It’s supposed to make me be more mindful of my everyday style.

But you know? I’m only human.

Besides it was rainy … and a little bit on the cool side for Queensland at this time of year.

I needed to change anyway.

My fave outfit this week

It’s funny when you look at all the outfits you’ve worn over the past seven days – all in one place and recorded forever on the internets – you get a better understanding of what works for you. And which ones you’re more likely to wear again in a hurry.

For me, this one was hands-down a winner. And not just because of the pineapples … or the fact that Dave Hughes’ wife wore the very same tee on Dave’s final show for The Project.

Outfits of the week

I thought it would be fun to share some of the great #everydaystyle photos here on the blog each week.

It’s not about a best-dressed competition. More about sharing the diversity of style out there.

Inspiring, yes?

#everydaystyle Australian women share what they wear each day

Clockwise from top left: @cillajean79; @goodfoodweek; @ellaspurling; @downthatlittlelane; @irismaystyle; @bbeingcool

Many of these amazing women already join in other Instagram style challenges. (Two of the most motivating out there are Fox in Flats‘ #DAREcember and #aussiecurves, coordinated by Danimezza.)

Would love you to follow them.

Style blog roll

Not everyone who’s joining in with #everydaystyle has a style blog – or any blog – but each week, I’d like to introduce you to a couple who do.

You may be able to identify your style with them. You may connect with their lifestyle, their age, their shape or where they live.

Each woman may inspire you to stretch outside your style comfort zone a little.

If that’s the case, subscribe to their blogs, follow them on Facebook or Instagram and show them the love. They’re worth it.

sonia styling

Sonia Styling: Sonia is a gorgeous Adelaide girl who not only got married last year and had an A-MAZING honeymoon throughout Europe but is also renovating her dream home with her husband. She knows how to take her style from gym, to work to a night out, all the while keeping it real and fun.

icurvy world

iCurvy:  Jo is based in New South Wales, LOVES shopping and inspires every day with her outfits – particularly her work outfits. She says she just “happens to be plus size”. I like that because it’s not about size it’s about style and Jo has bucket loads of it.

Want to join in? Simply upload a photo of yourself to Instagram or Facebook, use the #everydaystyle and tag @stylingyou so I can find you. Remember, don’t feel you have to post every day. Post when you can.

  1. I love the pineapple top and have resisted because I didn’t think it would suit me. And then I saw your pic and was inspired! Got it 25% off – it was meant to be… Love your blog Nikki, thanks

  4. You know I love a good old OOTD pic! I’ve been sharing daily outfit shots for months with #kimbalikessharemystyle, Frocktober then BAGvember now DAREcember.

I hardly read magazines any more. Am far more inspired by Everyday Style!

  5. I’m loving being a part of everyday style challenge! It gives me a chance to be more creative with my outfits and also it’s a great opportunity to get to know other women and check out their individual styles. Such a great idea!

  6. I have been loving the everyday style pictures. Although I am missing a lot as I am not yet up with Instagram (I hope to be soon) what I have seen has been great. It is really hard to get motivated when there are many days that I am just at home with the kids. So much inspiration here though to help step it up a notch next year when the Kindy run starts.

  7. I love the #everydaystyle photos that you post Nikki & I will be joining in but it’s going to have to wait until 2014. You see I’ve torn muscles in my shoulder, back & right arm; so dressing is a little tricky right now 🙁
Plus once my holidays start next weekend I’ll be hanging out in ‘house clothes’ [old dresses, etc] until we go on holidays where I will live in swimwear & more comfy clothes for two whole weeks – not very fashionable!

  8. Wow Nikki! Humbled to be featured on your blog. Thank you.
I too have a terrible habit of either leaving my pilates clothes on until I actually have to get changed (currently still in them) or reaching for + wearing the same old faithfuls. I like creating new outfits now! x
p.s Love the pineapples too. French connection + Seed also have pineapple t’s at the moment!

  9. i love the pineapple shirt, v Gorman but it’s CR! Looks great, Love all the ladies featured , real women doing their thing, that is inspiring. Happy to remain a reader rather than contributor but you have motivated me to lift my game daily, starting with a mani and pedi today!

  10. I’ll say it again….just love this idea!! It’s such a girly dress-ups lets-celebrate-our-style kinda thing!! Well done you!! xx

  11. Love your work Nikki, and your everyday style. You were the very first blogger to inspire me to mix it up and be more mindful and colourful everyday, so thank you! I just posted a blog today about my everyday Mummy style 🙂 Have a fabulous Friday!! A x x x

  12. Nikki, I have just received a text from Beckie (who also follows your blog) to say ‘you’re on Styling You today Mum’
Thank you for creating such a wonderful way to share our #everydaystyle – – even if 5 of my days are wearing Witchery! I love joining in & checking out what everyone else is wearing, but most of all I adore the individual inspiration #everydaystyle creates.

I do love your pineapple shirt too!

  14. Yes so many inspiring fashionistas out there and I think it would be great for everyone to continue to share there everyday style. I love seeing how everyone pulls together a look and show there individuality. Thank you Nikki for your constant inspiration. I have tried adding some pics everyday but I never seem to get the right shot. Lets see how I go from now. x

PS I will be checking out everyones instagram and iCurvy. I already love Sonia Styling and read often.

  15. I hear you Nikki! I stayed in my gym gear all Tuesday and it wasn’t pretty but I just ran out of time and then it was dinner!

I love your outift and the nod to pineapples and splash of aqua. You look fab!

  16. It’s such a great way to actually wear more of what we’ve got instead of returning to wear the same old thing over and over again – which is what I can fall into doing! 🙂

  17. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you for starting the Everyday Style Challenge. For me it’s been a great way to look at what I have and start putting in a bit of effort for myself.
Thank you also to all the ladies joining in – you’re inspiring me (and enabling me…yes I’m looking at you, Kim-Marie!).
Thank you for including my blog, Sonia Styling. While it may not be exclusively a fashion blog, I do love my fashion and want to include a lot more of it next year.
Here’s cheers to all of us and our everyday style! xx
