Everyday style – the Christmas Edition

Nikki ParkinsonEveryday Style, Fashion 40 Comments

While I sweated from places no person should sweat on Christmas Day, many of you had to re-jig your outfit plans to accommodate a very un-summer-like Christmas.

Loved seeing everyone’s not-so-everyday style in my Instagram feed and on Facebook. So festive.

I must say I did stretch out my red and green themed dressing from Christmas Eve Eve until Boxing Day but, hey, ’tis the season, and today I’m far from festive getting down to the serious business of packing up our house.

There will be some serious culling going on. Maybe you’re in the de-cluttering your wardrobe kind of mood? This post from my Unlock Your Style holiday camp at the start of this year my help.

Read on for a look at my own fave festive outfits and a selection of yours. I haven’t been able to include everyone’s photo as I’m sneakily writing this post yesterday in between prepping for Christmas #3.

Would love you to share your own festive outfit photo though – just upload in the comments below.

Blog roll

Not everyone who’s joining in with #everydaystyle has a style blog – or any blog – but each week, I’d like to introduce you to a couple who do. You may be able to identify your style with them. You may connect with their lifestyle, their age, their shape or where they live.

Each woman may inspire you to stretch outside your style comfort zone a little. If that’s the case, subscribe to their blogs, follow them on Facebook or Instagram and show them the love. They’re worth it.

Kimba Likes

Kimba LikesKim-Marie is mum to her son “Boyo” and lives in Sydney. She was an awesome commenter on this and other blogs before taking the leap and starting her own. Her ability to hunt down a bargain and comb an op shop for fashion treasures translates to a fabulously individual style that cannot help but bring on a smile.

Style and Shenanigans

Style and Shenanigans: Melbourne mum of three boys Vanessa has been blogging for only four months but she’s already built a loyal following who love the way that she defies the myth that Melbourne women wear only black. Her style is practical but with a splash of something extra – whether that’s colour, layering or her choice of key accessories.

  1. Woo, thanks for including me Nikki I am just catching up on Christmas posts now! I LOVE your Lola Australia dress. Hope the move is going well. x

  2. P.S. I wore my fabulous Valentino leopard print frock on Christmas eve, and a Chloe dress accessorised with a Christmas Hat on Christmas day 🙂

PPS.- didn’t realise the photos would be full size!!! When I was uploading they seemed to be readjusting to smaller. Ha! sorry for taking over your comments section! Hope the ‘holidays’ are treating you well. All the best with the move x

  4. Ooohh there’s me and my girls!! So great to see what other’s wear and it’s very clear to me I NEED to invest in a few new dresses!! Best of luck with your packing, I presume there is a cold beverage chilling and ready for you at day’s end?!! Xx

  5. I forgot to get one just of me so here is one of all the family, I’m wearing a Country Road top, Mink Pink pants and the ever present Havianas. It was 38 here in Kalgoorlie followed by 43 on Boxing Day, thank god for air cons

  6. I came home from a five week Asian holiday on Monday with plenty of purchases and so have been doing wardrobe detox since. Have given a few items their last chance to prove their worth in my wardrobe but also done a big re-jig. I styled the pineapples for Chrissy day, (hope you saw) but forgot a full length pic hence the boyfie made it in. Am loving #everydaystyle to discover new bloggers for new fashion inspiration. As a 22 year old UNi student, I love gaining inspiration from everyone! Good luck packing Nikki, we did it 11 times in 10 years as a kid, I remember lots of culling both as we packed and them unpacked.

  7. Thank you for including my blog in your post today Nikki. I am honoured and delighted to be in such illustrious company! I love your festive outfits too, particularly the Kaftan on the left. It really suits you and has the glam factor but looks comfortable. I also love seeing everyone else’s great outfits – lots of maxis and frocks which is right up my alley. Here is my every day festive style to add to the collection too (with a special cameo of my 7yo and the first Lego construction of the day):

  8. My #everydaystyle #bargainbuys Christmas Day outfit… Kmart top and jeans, Wittner sandals, necklace was a Christmas gift. x

  9. How nice! I’m flattered to be included in such a stylish group – everyone looks great! All the best with the packing over the next few days Nikki.

      1. Thanks so much Vanessa! The necklace is a customised Elk piece – I took it to the fabulous Fiona Etty-Leal, image stylist extraordinaire, who shortened it to suit me better, and added very small deep blue beads between each Elk nugget. It’s so great to have a one off piece, and she created some awesome earrings from some of the leftover nuggets too. Fiona did my colours when I was a teenager, and we crossed paths again last year. Everyone needs a style guru! The internet makes it possible to have a few.

  10. Oh yeah, it was way too hot on Christmas day and Boxing day – ugh! However, I LOVE your outfits Nikki – very tropically posh! Happy packing!

  11. I Love following you on FB, and your outfits! Here’s a picture of my daughter and I on Christmas Day down Boat Harbour Beach, Tasmania

      1. Thank you, its probably my favourite shot from the day, with my girl! Not sure why its sideways? lol
Big hello to you Petra, we had the BEST weather in Tassie on Christmas, the best in years!

  12. Thank you so much for including me Nikki. I’m a huge fan of Vanessa’s Style & Shenanigans. A beautiful girl inside and outside.

I’m absolutely loving the opportunity to share my daily style and have gained so much inspiration from looking at all the other participants. Love how I keep seeing the same piece or style worn completely differently by so many gorgeous women.

Who needs fashion mags when we’ve got #everydaystyle?!

Found some more IG inspiration too! Thanks xx

    1. PS – I kinda loved the dodgy weather in Sydney on Christmas Day. Sure, it ruined my plans to read in the garden but it was a fab excuse to wear my new Noa Noa scarf and my gorgeous Betsey Johnson fluffy beret sent from the UK. Teamed with shorts of course! x

  13. Your outfits are lovely Nikki ,I put mine on IG 🙂 I love all these #everydaystyle outfits and am glad to see lots of dresses even though it was raining in Sydney i thought it very humid so still wore a dress,Thankyou for sharing these pics…..Lovely and that new Kaftan of yours Divine!
