If there is one fashion garment that is very thick on the ground (or should that be the legs) this week at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week*, it is the leather or leatherette pant.
Leather or leatherette skirts are running a close second.
Yes, in case you’ve been hiding under a fashion rock, all things leather or leather-look are back with a vengeance.
And who am I not to jump on that bandwagon?
Well, actually I did question whether I was a little on the, ahhemm, mature side to be doing any jumping, bandwagon or not.
But that was for approximately 4.5 seconds.
By the 5 second mark, I had fallen head over legs in love with these Luxe Deluxe leather pants. They’re leather up the front; ponte up the back which adds up to an uber comfortable style combo.
And as has already been mentioned, this year I’m all about the comfort factor for my fashion week outfits.
Also, look away if you’re not a fan of doubling up on styles that you love. Because doubled up I definitely did today.
I cannot tell you how beautiful these Mela Purdie shirts are to wear. The fabric is man-made but it’s like a silk on steroids, allowing your skin to breathe in a way usually associated with a cotton or pure silk.
The reason for my neutral stance?
Those Zoe Kratzmann boots, that’s what.
Let me tell you a bit of a story about those boots. Remember how I told you how so many fashionista types strut around like peacocks hoping to be dressed beautifully or theatrically enough to be photographed?
Well, blow me down if I wasn’t asked for a photo today. I actually looked around to see if they were calling out to someone else. Not so, it was me they were after … well, not me exactly … more my boots.
The photographer was working for Style Tread, which has the boots for sale, and they were keen to capture them. This will console me should I see myself on social media or the Style Tread site … minus my head.
I’m ok, really. Those boots are the stuff off shoe-robe dreams.
Someone pinch me now.
Too much lippy pop is so not enough this week and today I puckered up for the Hot Plum shade from the limited edition We Are Handsome Color Sensational Vivids lipsticks from Maybelline New York.
This strong pink has a violet undertone which sits on my lips for the perfect lip statement. The colour hold is good. I still need touch-ups during the day after eating and drinking but in between it lasts without drying out my lips.
Maybelline NY has collaborated with designers We Are Handsome to release three limited edition lipsticks (available at Woolworths and Coles until June, 2013 $16.95).
