2013 Product of the Year

Are these 2013 Product of the Year winners in your bathroom?

I love a good survey, don’t you?

Especially ones that confirm stuff you already knew. No, I’m not talking about the longest Australian election campaign in history, I’m talking about the 2013 Product of the Year Awards.

These annual awards are like the Logies of consumer goods but instead of giving a thumbs up to your favourite actor or TV program, you let an official survey person on the end of the telephone line a bit of an insight as to what goes into your supermarket trolley on a regular basis.

This year’s results were announced last night and today I could talk about small appliances and dishwashing but I won’t. I’ll cut to the beauty and bathroom chase.

These are the products that got the thumbs up more than others from 11,600 Australian household shoppers just like you or I.

And if you’re anything like me, if I’m actually going to give a product recommendation then I’ve tried and tested it first – and in this case, the survey respondents have probably bought the products several times over.

Tell me, are any of these in your bathroom right now? If so, what do you like about them?

  1. I really appreciate good recommendations. Can’t believe I have NEVER heard of hair powder! But we do have some of the other products – I use the Bic Soleil razors – and they’re good. Also have the Vaseline Lotion and the Nivea Cleanser in our cupboards. I’m curious to try out the Garnier Dark Spot corrector.

  2. Thanks Nikki for the insight once again.. ..I must be living under a rock, I haven’t seen half of these products but I do have the Garnier Dark Spot Corrector in my bathroom drawer and probably don’t use it enough to see any real difference unfortunately.Must start though by the other ladies comments below. Can’t wait for my other body moisturisers to run out and I am definitely getting me some of that Vaseline Aloe SPF which I didn’t even know existed . Have a lovely weekend.

  3. Thumbs up from me for the hair oil and the volume powder. I have fine, curly hair and the oil is great either as an overnight treatment or very lightly pre-styling – and any left over on my hands is great rubbed on my legs!

  4. I have tried the dark spot corrector and find it works better on my body than my face – strange but true. Anyway, that volume powder is very good (not quite as good as Dust It but the price difference certainly makes up for it). I am with Lisa, I think Moroccanoil is the best but I haven’t tried the one listed.

  5. I have tried the Garnier Dark spot corrector,I was actually on the trial before it came out but I saved the last little bit to try on the backs of my hands as they have a few dark spots and it does work very well.I haven’t tried the Vaseline aloe fresh body lotion yet ,but I will I am just using up the stores of body lotion in my bathroom cabinet,I tend to buy in bulk when I like something ,as you do! I don’t shave I epilate but my daughter has tried these razors and she loves them.I must say I have tried the hair oil but found it a tad too greasy on my fine hair,so I am sticking to Moroccanoil light.I do love a sneaky supermarket purchase,as It is like your not buying beauty products just groceries ;)Thanks Nikki for keeping us up to date on the best buys.

  6. I swear by the Garnier Dark Spot Corrector, Mrs Woog got me onto it, and I don’t go a day without it now!
And the Schwarzkopf Hair Powder – ABSOLUTE awesomeness for my fine strands, so so so much volume in just one little puff of powder!
