Lazy-girl beauty: how to give good cheek

Nikki ParkinsonBeauty, How to 29 Comments

I was feeling a little not-so-fresh yesterday.

As you do after a weekend where wine time was any time, sleep was over-rated and you are no longer of the bounce-back age you think you are at the time of said wine consumption and sleep dodging.

No, you think you are 22 again. And you think that you will greet Monday as fresh as those proverbial daisies. Except the only daisies you’ll possibly be mistaken for are the wilted ones you should have thrown out before you went away for three days.

But I digress, Stylers … as I am want to do when I have lazy-girl beauty tips on my mind.

Now, I don’t want to scare you off with this lazy-girl idea but I will give you the heads up. It does involve using three products. Not one.

Stick with me though. I’ve demo-ed it on today’s vlog.

The good cheek cheat sheet:

… and the products I used:

Stockists: Elizabeth Arden | Smashbox | stila

… but I know you want more:

You may have guessed that I’m a little obsessed about cheek beauty products, so I do get a little excited when new ones land on my desk*. These ones are some new releases that your cheeks will also get a little flushed over. Pun very much intended.

6 products for giving good cheek

1. (For bronzing) Me Me Me Goddess Rocks $36.95: I love the way that the sponge applicator (or your own bronzing brush) creates a gorgeous colour, picking up the tones from the different coloured “rocks”.  A little affordable luxury for your cosmetic drawer.

2. (For cheek colour) Alexami Perfect Puff mineral blush in coral pink $34.95: If you love loose mineral products but don’t love how they leave “calling cards” all over your bathroom sink, then you’ll love this. The minerals work their way through the attached puff applicator and as you press down and make circular motions they leave a gorgeous colour.

3. (For cheek colour) Jane Iredale PurePressed Blush in Whisper $42.50: This blush is part of the new Spellbinding Grab & Go Kit, which I can highly recommend for its gorgeous combination of products that will set you up with a fresh new makeup look. This blush? I love it for its sprinkle of 24K gold. Just call me Princess Nikki.

4. (For highlighting) Australis Mineral Highlights in Gold $14.95:  This is a great, easy-to-use liquid highlighter that will give you the top of the cheek glow I talked about in the video.

5. (For highlighting) Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch in Shimmering Sand $12.95: This is my favourite of the four shades available in this highlighting product. It’s beautiful, sheer and shimmery. And like the Australis product, a top price.

6. (For cheek colour) Me Me Me Boho Balm Cheek and Lip Tint $18.95: I’m a sucker for pretty packaging and this tin ticks all those boxes. Great for keeping in your handbag or for travel. Also, I love a product that does more than one thing. For a bit of fun use your fingers to blend both colours together to blend your custom cheek colour.

Do you have a favourite cheek product or products? Would love you to leave your recommendation in the comments below.

PS. If you are even a little beauty obsessed, this little bit of news may just your panties in an excited twist. You can now buy Sephora products online from Australia.  I’m not making this up. No, head on over to this site and check it out. It’s an Australian site that’s making it possible for you to shop from some of your favourite US stores. And yes, the prices are good. I KNOW.

  1. I am so trying 4, 5, and 6 – love me a dabble with a great priced new beauty product 🙂

    thanks nikki, great cheeky post

  2. I absolutely love a bright cheek. Adore it. It brightens up my face and makes me look fresh. I have 2 blush colours on the go at the moment – MAC ‘Springsheen’ and Napoleon ‘Royal Flush’. Love your 3 magic tips, Nikki!

  3. Oh, I’m all about cheeks! My current favourite combo is Bobbi Brown Pink Peony powder as a blush, BECCA Beach Tint in Raspberry or Dragonfruit (I pop a bit on my lips too as a base stain), then BECCA Pressed Shimmer Powder in Angel (a nude beige pink) as my bronzer in a reverse 3 (I really don’t do bronzer very often) and a little BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal tapped along my cheekbones, under my eyebrows, down the bridge of my nose and above my upper lip. It sounds complicated, but it takes very little time and lasts all day. 🙂

  4. In a very basic way I use Mac Love Rock and Arbonne Bronzer but think the way you use them Nikki in your vlog might be a much better way. I will give it a go! PS thank you for that Sephora link! I suggest there are going to be a few purchases made today.

  5. I’m in love with all Benefit products. I have four of the box powders, all the tints and four different illuminators! Still getting the hang of the new cha cha tint. I’m pale so I only need the smallest amount or I look really orange!

  6. Wow Nikki I just tried that war paint tip with the highlighter and it really works, why did you not tell me about it before?,no seriously I love blush,I prefer pink tones as well ,I find in bronzers some are way too dark and do look dirty and it gives some glow to your face especially when you get to my vintage,if I were champagne I would be very expensive lol.I have golf ball cheeks too,but they are an asset especially as you get older ,lots of people get check implants you know and we don’t need them, got to look on the glass half full theory here 🙂
I like smashbox blushes the best or the ones with the pink and corals mixed in a flower, you know the ones I mean, you just swoosh it with your brush and the colours mix,and look better than just one colour on it’s own.Thank-You Nikki for another lazy girl tip ,I especially love this one, anything that makes you look fresher than you are is a winner.

      1. Yes,I watched the video and am about to go grocery shopping and feel tired so I thought,go and try it now….winner so Thank-you Nikki x
PS and when I get home I am going to have a look at Sephora online x
