The Model and Me: abi and joseph

So I’ve been on a little bit of a health thingy. The kind of thingy where I’ve been giving this old body a little bit of the respect it deserves.

I won’t bore you with the details right now but suffice to say, I hadn’t really looked after myself for a while there. I’d taken on way too much at the expense of … me.

Anyhoo, when the lovely people at Perth-based label abi and joseph contacted me* to see if I’d like to give some of their new exercise wear a run (pun intended), normally I would have ran the other way … in the direction of my doona.

Never fear, my doona and I are still on very good terms but I’ve got my energy back.

I was really stoked that it wasn’t lost forever and was clearly just hiding in waiting until my obsession with orange could extend to exercise wear

Here are the abi and joseph pieces on a model and mannequin:

1. Three-quarter sleeve body top $69 | 2. Yoga leggings $89 | 3. Merino scarf $59

And here is me:

As worn with Witchery over-sized grey tee; Uberkate necklace; and my daily arm party

Now, I have two important things to say about these pieces:

1. Wearing each of them feels like an indulgence thanks to the quality of the fabrics used. The three-quarter sleeved top is viscose/elastane; the pants supplex; and the scarf Merino. They wash easily and require no ironing. I’ve had an abi and joseph white tank for more than six months now. There is not the slightest pilling and it still feels luxe to wear after this time.

2. Each of these products need not be used for exercise alone. I’m already planning to base what I wear on board my flight to the US in August around the pants. The reason? With a tunic-style top, jacket, scarf and ballet flats they make a stylish and comfortable ensemble. Seriously, these pants are SO comfortable, they’re perfect for a long-haul flight. The orange scarf and top? An easy layering add to my existing wardrobe.

It’s that ability to incorporate your exercise clothing into your everyday wardrobe (but not in a way that says I’m off to the gym, I’ve been to the gym or that really appeals to me. And it’s the premise behind the whole abi and joseph collection, which I think is super smart.

What’s happened as a result is that the pieces have now become firm fixtures the travel wardrobes of women around Australia. I’ve just become one of those women.

Do you exercise? What do you wear? Do you have separate exercise gear or do you have stuff that’s already part of your wardrobe?
