There just seems to be so much stuff happening in the fashiony world at the moment. Maybe it’s because I’m still coming back to earth after Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia? Maybe it’s the change of seasons?

Whatever the reason, I thought for this 5 for Friday I thought I’d share some of the newsy stuff that I’ve sussed out this week

Boots for ALL calves

If you’ve ever walked all over town trying on boots after boots in the hope that one pair would actually fit over your calves, then listen up. DUO Boots has arrived in Australia, giving you access to made-to-measure boots in up to 21 calf sizes and shoes in three widths. A step-by-step fitting guide and video ensures the correct calf and foot width measurements are obtained, with the added option to download and print a tape measure.

Queensland fashion spotlight

Do you know how much I love that the organisers of Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane have chosen a woman in her 20s to be the face of this year’s festival? A. Lot. So much better than a teenager. Plus, Adele Frost (pictured wearing Pia du Pradal) has just launched her own fashion label, Friends of the Heart. The schedule for this year’s festival (to run from August 25-31 at the Treasury Casino Hotel) will be announced on May 24, with tickets on sale the following day through QTIX.

  1. Trying to shop for some clothes for an upcoming Whitsundays holidays.  Help!  Where do I find anything half decent for the northern winter when I’m in Melbourne!  Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

  2. No shopping for me this weekend – already hit the 25% off sales at Country Road and Trenery and the 30% off sale at Witchery yesterday. Bought a black oversized knit from Witchery and a grey tunic from Trenery for me and lots of nice things for my 2 boys.
Your post on boots has inspired me to get my boots out this weekend and get them ready for winter. I may even wear them this weekend. 🙂
    Happy weekend!

  3. OMG those Jean Brown heels are TDF!! Not much planned for this weekend – renovating as usual. But next week we’ll be in QUEENSLAND and I cannot wait!! xx

  4. I highly recommend Duo Boots. About 5 yrs ago when I was quite a bit larger than I am now, I couldn’t find long boots to fit over my calves anywhere in Australia. It was sooo frustrating and demoralising! Anyway, I discovered Duo Boots, ordered a pair and was absolutely thrilled with them. I wore those boots everywhere! The service & delivery was excellent too. They might be a bit pricey but the quality is excellent. And no, I’m not affiliated with them in anyway, I just love the fact that they cater for ALL sizes & shapes.

  5. Like the look of those sites Nikki, but I have no trouble getting boots to fit m calves ,I have really skinny legs ,but I know other people do, that app looks good too,I am after a new watch cause I’m now allergic to the nickel in my really nice watch I wear everyday:( age grr. I have found a really nice one but at $400 ,a bit too pricey I may have to do a google search and see if I can find it cheaper …..
I would love a couple of new jumpers to go with my jeans and ponte pants but we will see ,maybe not this week.
