What do you sell in your store?

Fully customisable jewellery: rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and cufflinks. Choose your jewellery item, then select the metal, the finish and whether you want to plate it. Choose your gemstone, have the item engraved, add your personal touch … or a combination of all of the above. StyleRocks is a world-first in offering jewellery customisation in this manner.

How did the idea for your store come about?

Jewellery design has been a life-long passion of mine, so I was looking for a way to combine that passion with a career that was more conducive to motherhood. The idea of setting up my own business from home, doing something I love, seemed the best way to marry those two worlds. After being given the opportunity to select a gift to celebrate the birth of my twins, I realised there was little avenue for personal choice in the online jewellery industry. Being pregnant, the last thing I wanted to do was shop, so I went online and couldn’t find anything I liked in the metals I wear, or the stones I love. I didn’t have the energy or time to visit a jeweller to create something, so we left it.

The babies were born and some months later, after we’d relocated to Australia from London, I saw the Shoes of Prey website, which offers you complete customisation in designing your shoes. I thought that the ability to design your own jewellery – exactly as you want it, was exactly what I needed to create – and so StyleRocks was born!

What’s is your career background?

Marketing and communications specialist with blue chip financial services companies.

Who is your key customer?

I call my ideal customer Lauren: Lauren is 29, all her friends are getting engaged, married or having babies, so she’s constantly on the lookout for quality jewellery as a gift. As these are all life’s significant milestones, she wants to purchase jewellery that commemorates these occasions, and also demonstrates the relationship between her and the gift recipient. She doesn’t have the time to go to a jeweller to have things made, nor the budget; typically, you don’t have anything customised for less than $1000 with a jeweler. Most of the StyleRocks items are available for between $100-$400; although if you choose a more expensive metal such as 18ct gold, you will exceed that price range.

How do you make it easy for your online customers to buy from you?

The StyleRocks customer sees the image of their jewellery change as they make their selections, ie silver changes to gold immediately, blue topaz changes to citrine. As these changes are made, the price is updated instantly too: so the customer knows exactly what their item will look like when it arrives.

StyleRocks has a great returns policy too: if your jewellery item arrives and you don’t like it, we will take it back and credit your account – no questions asked.

We provide a necklace and ring sizing guide on the site, to help you with your purchase: if there’s an issue with ring size, we’ll adjust it for you free of charge.

Do you sell in person or in a physical store as well?

No, online only.
