WIN: A weekend for two Spicers Tamarind Retreat

Nikki Parkinson Life 45 Comments

I’d love to tell you that I’m a rough and ready type. Up for a bit of getting back to nature and a spot of camping.

But I won’t. Because if you’re a regular reader here on Styling You, you’ll know that that’s not me. Don’t get me wrong, I get why people LOVE camping.

I just like my weekends away to offer me the creature comforts of home … but on steriods.

It’s about the sheets, the fluffy pillows, the champagne, the gourmet food. And a spa. Must be a spa.

We’re holidaying at home this summer (actually the holiday is coming to us with friends from Sydney coming for a week in early January … they don’t know it yet but we’ll be hanging at their Mooloolaba resort. A LOT.) so I’m thinking ahead to the New Year and thinking about some possible weekend escapes.

One of the best possible places to escape to is actually on my doorstep (lucky me). Trust me, Spicers Tamarind Retreat is worth the drive or flight to get there.

Spicers Tamarind Retreat is now home to Spa Anise ... this could be you!

Spicers Tamarind Retreat is now home to Spa Anise … this could be you!

Spicers Tamarind Retreat is an intimately unique property where Thai style (and food!) meets the tranquillity of the Australian bush. The retreat is situated next to stunning Gardners Falls in a picturesque rainforest spread over 18 acres. The property features 12 villas – five one-bedroom villas, each of which feature their own outdoor cedar hot tub, and seven two-bedroom villas.

Now, the luxury property near Maleny in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Queensland, has launched its day spa – Spa Anise – a sanctuary where guests can experience complete relaxation and wellness treatments in the ultimate natural setting.

The purpose-built facility features four treatment rooms and a state of the art hydrotherapy room complete with a therapeutic spa, rain shower and steam room with water sourced on site from a deep mineral spring – all overlooking the forest.

Three treatment rooms are twin bedded to enable couples to experience a wellness treatment together. Spacious timber windows slide back and open on to rainforest views, inviting the outdoors inside.  After treatments, guests can relax even further in a well-appointed post treatment room featuring a lounge, fireplace and a large covered deck area complete with a refreshment station.

… sign me up. I’m there!

To help you start dreaming about some weekend escapes in 2012, I’m hosting this competition over the Christmas break. One Styling You reader will have a chance to win two nights’ accommodation in a forest pavilion, including a gourmet breakfast daily and a three-course dinner for two in the Tamarind restaurant. The total prize value is $1198.

Once again, I’ll be asking a question and I’ll be looking for the most creative and original answer to: What are your essential ingredients for a weekend getaway?

I’ve also attached a mini survey to the competition form. I’d love you to help me make Styling You an even better place to visit in 2012, so I’d appreciate your honest answers and feedback.

  1. Hi Nikki,
Thanks for this comp 🙂 It is my dream…and I’ve been holding on anxiously. Has a winner been announced yet? And if not, when might the winner be announced?

  2. Hi! My first visit to your site so I’ll definitely be looking around! As to the ‘getaway ingredients’ I’d have to say three things relax me – a good book, some good wine and good friends. I spend so much time working, on the Internet or social media and while I love my boy to pieces, we both need some time by ourselves now and again. My single parent status means I’m effectively both parents, so you cam imagine what it’s like! Funnily enough, one of my 2012 goals is to price some spa retreats but I’m thinking it may be a liiiiitle out of my price range 🙂

  3. Happy New Year! This looks awesome and prefect for relaxation. We all need to cuddle ourselves from time to time and we definitely deserved that.:)

  4. Hi Nikki, I wasn’t going to enter, but my hubby broke his leg in three places yesterday playing badminton (gotta love Christmas) that the thought of a spa weekend has me drooling more than a Saint Bernard!

Hope you had an uneventful Christmas!
    Cheers

  5. Wow! The place really looks amazing. Can you post some reviews or maybe photos of their foods? Most of the people including me consider food as basis in decision. lol 🙂

  6. Thanks for the chance to win a weekend getaway. This sound lovely, and would be a great way for hubby and me to relax as we celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary next year.

  7. My essential ingredient is hard to choose. Can’t live without my children, but boy to I need a break from them. Can’t live without my mother, although she nags me bonkers and then there’s hubby. Mmm!! Maybe I will just choose a bottle Sav Blanc. It won’t talk back, or tire me out. And it will keep me going for ages.

  8. My visits to family on the Sunshine Coast each year in January consist of a month of chaos. (sorry guys, love you all dearly but 3 families under one roof for 4 weeks…….) I’m sure no-one will notice if I snuck off for a few days. 🙂

  9. Isn’t it amazing to think we have such beautiful places just hiding in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast.

I hadn’t really heard too much about Spicers Tamarind Retreat, but it’s now on my “must retreat to” wish list.
